  1. To change the subject slightly, I don't think he was executed. Didn't he commit suicide while in prison?
  2. Baffmeister: I found a reference on the web (aviastar.org) which suggests that the La-9 had 825 litres in a fuselage tank, and the La-11 had wingtip tanks ("It had a wing fundamentally similar to that of the La-9 and retained the ASh-82FN engine, but provision was made to attach auxiliary fuel tanks at the wingtips"). So my guess is 825 litres in a fuselage tank just behind the engine, and a 137.5 litre tank somewhere in each wing. To convert to kg for the Data.INI, does anyone know the specific gravity of Soviet fuel (avgas, not jet fuel) of the time?
  3. The Battle of Britain terrain is 1200 x 1200 km, the EuroWW2 terrain is 1500 x 1500 km (the sizes are set out in the terrain INI file: Height = and Width=, the numbers being in meters).
  4. Nice Meteors! Who knew that the Saar existed as an independent state from 1945 until 1956? If they had an air force they would probably have used French aircraft though!
  5. Open the INI file of that object (it looks like one of the EW_Radars), and under [shadow] CastShadow=TRUE < change this the FALSE If those lines don't exist in the INI file (some Falklands objects, like the CommTrailer, don't have them) then type them in. That should fix the problem.
  6. AFAIK aircraft gunners cannot be made to fire at ground targets, only at other aircraft.
  7. Wrench, I very much appreciate and enjoy all the work you do for this sim, including all your original work like the Norway terrain, but I don't think you are in the right to claim the European terrain in the A-Team's ETO Mod as your own. The ReadMe says that the original of this terrain was "ported to Strike Fighters by fng2k, Edward and Charles in July 2005". I have that terrain, and it has 255 target areas in it. Your upgrades to this terrain (January 2013) took it to 351 target areas, although in your ReadMe you claim the terrain as your own, without even mentioning two of the three original creators. I don't think it is right to do that. The new (2014) version of the terrain in the ETO Mod has 655 target areas, way more than your version, plus it has seasonal tiles which your version did not, and it has loads of other terrain goodies like the Tower of London, Eiffel tower etc which your version didn't have. Your upgrades are credited in the ReadMe, but I just don't see how you can seriously say that the whole terrain is your work. It obviously isn't. Stary: Feedback is always useful, I will pass that about the A-20 cockpit on to them.
  8. Well said Dave. I for one am enjoying this Mod, the aircraft set and campaigns are great, but it's a free country, and people can disagree if they want to. As Column5 used to say: "Don't like it, don't download it or use it" or something like that.
  9. Well, nobody seems to be able to identify any other actual errors in the A-Team's ETO Mod, so I won't bother PM'ing them. Mere vulgar abuse and vitriol doesn't count. Have any of you actually downloaded and flown this Mod, or are you all just angry about something I don't understand? As to Wrench's point about the terrain, the A-Team ETO Mod Readme is pretty clear, it says: The original of this terrain was made for TK's earlier flight sim European Air War (EAW) by fng2k and Charles in the 1990s, and was ported to Strike Fighters by fng2k, Edward and Charles in July 2005. Upgrades to the terrain were made by Wrench in February 2006 and October 2009, by Charles in October 2010, and by Wrench again in December 2012. The tiles are by Edward (mostly), with some by Wrench and Charles. I understand that fng2k, Charles and Edward are all part of the A-Team, so I don't understand the attitude, or the problem.
  10. Any other problems that you can identify? I will correspond with them and get them to fix them, if I can.
  11. No, this is where you would be wrong. I can only speak for my own experience, and I'm new to this and don't know what "people have been telling them for years", but I have always found them polite and responsive when I raise issues with them. And I don't know of any Mods bigger than this one, or better put together. Can you tell me the "way too many errors" you are talking about, I must have missed them.
  12. Remaining on the constructive side, the P-38 and Fw-190A cockpits in this Mod are a bit dated (I think they are by Wolf257, and they date from 2004), so if a Cockpit-Meister was looking for a project, new ones would be much appreciated :)
  13. On the other hand, they have a number of very good-looking cockpits in this Mod :) Seriously, though, I think this criticism is over the top and unwarranted. There are something like 170 aircraft in this mod. Some, like the Ju-88A, Do-17Z and Bf-110, are older models, but most are brand-new and highly detailed (in no particular order, check out the Spitfire Mk 14 and Mk 19, the Arado Ar-234, the Dornier Do-17P, the Me-262A, the Do-335, all of the Bf-109Es, Gs and the K, the Fw-190As, the P-38s, the P-51B and C, the P-47C and D, the Typhoon, Tempest, Defiant, and Whirlwind, plus all the exotic French, Dutch and Belgian machines like the Amiot 143 and 354, the Bloch 151 and 152, the Dewoitine D.520, the Caudron Cyclon and the Fokker G.1). As far as I can tell all, or almost all, of the Veltro2k models in this Mod are SF2 types, not SF1. And that gap in the Bf-109K cockpit is easily fixed by changing the cockpit.INI file from Position=0.00,-0.882,0.690 to Position=0.00,-0.882,0.750. I did it for my install weeks ago, when this Mod was first released. I am not a modder, but for my part I am not a rivet-counter, I am grateful when people do great things in their spare time, such as Stary's cockpits or this Mod, and give them to me for free.
  14. Just downloaded this - very nice, thanks mate! I particularly like the scuffed, well-used look, it looks very realistic.
  15. Try here, for an SF2 version: http://combatace.com/files/file/9446-f-102a-delta-dagger/
  16. New Galicia Terrain - WIP

Looks great, looking forward to it, thanks mate.
  17. Download the Zip file, not the EXE file which is also offered. The EXE file will be malware, or worse, in my experience. The Zip file seems safe to me. I downloaded it, scanned for bad things and found none, and opened it. The viewer itself works fine, on Gen1 or Gen 2 aircraft, and with either ANSI or Unicode files.
  18. Nifty tool, thanks Mue. It will be very useful for finding parts ands placing decals.
  19. Outstanding! I love these naval aircraft, and I have never seen the Firebrand in a sim before. Looking forward to it.
  20. A naval aircraft, from the tail hook. British, and Royal Navy, obviously. In the tail area it looks like the Supermarine Attacker, except that was a jet and this isn't. And the canopy on the Attacker was forward of the wing leading edge, not behind it. It could be the Supermarine Seafang, but the vertical fin is too square. Blackburn Firebrand?
  21. It looks great, Monty! Really looking forward to it.
  22. Thanks for that mate - it had never occurred to me to use negative numbers (which, of course, are needed for any off-map base to the west or south). I will give it a try.
