Armchair Aces over Palestine
Gatling20 replied to ojcar's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2 File Announcements
I am having a blast with these campaigns and the new Palestine terrain. I had to download a couple of aircraft for the campaigns, but otherwise the installation was painless. Thanks a lot for these, Stephen and Ojcar! -
Heinkel He 177 Greif A-5
Gatling20 replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
What a beauty. The new skins look good, and the FM works really well. And with this new bombsight mod I can actually hit things when level bombing from altitude. A great addition to the sim, thanks Veltro2k. -
The Palestine Front is finally here

Marcel's non-Delta in Down Under
Gatling20 replied to ValAstur's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Excellent work! One very small detail correction on the markings - the legs on the kangaroo on the wing roundels on RAAF aircraft point towards the fuselage, not towards the wingtips -
Landing Lights
Gatling20 replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I think that LightSrcOffset is the point the light is aimed at, so LightSrcOffset=0.0,25.00,-1.00 is aiming a light (usually a landing light) at a point straight ahead (0.00), 25 meters ahead, and 1 meter down. Brightness is the size of the light: 0.15 would be a large landing light, 0.03 is a small wingtip light. I'm not certain what LightSrcRange controls, but I think it is the distance from the aircraft, beyond which the light is not visible. -
1930s Ground And Terrain objects
Gatling20 replied to Geezer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Wow!! What a great looking bunch of aircraft. And that sounds like a yes from Veltro2k, about helping out with the uncompleted 3D models! -
Target Object Under Reticle
Gatling20 replied to Swordsman422's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
This sounds interesting, but I don't understand. I have looked at the stock Default.INI in the Controls folder, and I can't see a command about "Target Object under Reticule". Is this a command which SF2 recognises? -

Great work, Veltro and team, thank. I loved the previous version, and this one too. There is something about the "Iron Dog" that is attractive. -

P-51s
Gatling20 replied to TheWarrior's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Just tried baffmeister's new P-51D FM. MaxSpeedSL= 225.75 meters per second at sea level (505 mph) seems a bit much for a P-51D. The CDL changes make it climb a bit better, though. -

P-51s
Gatling20 replied to TheWarrior's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
I agree, I have always found the stock TW P-51D a very indifferent aircraft to fly. It is sluggish in acceleration, does not reach the published maximum achievable speeds at most altitudes, bleeds speed very quickly in any sort of turn, and can barely climb at all. I think the FM needs a serious overall. -
In FE2 you need to set up a separate folder for each pilot figure, containing the relevant LOD, INI and BMP files, under your Objects/Pilots folder. So if your new pilot is called ww1PilotNew1, there needs to be a folder with that name under the Objects/Pilots folder. Then, of course, your aircraft has to use this pilot in its Data.INI file.

Natural Metal skin for AD's Oscar?
Gatling20 replied to TSMcQueen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
I've got a bare metal skin for Wolf257's version of the Ki-43, done by Column5 in 2003, but I've never seen a bare metal skin for ArmourDave's version. -
Interesting research on Oscar.

No, you have to register before you can download things, just like here at CombatAce.
