Panzerpack for Ukraine Terrain
Gepard posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File Panzerpack for Ukraine Terrain Panzerpack for Ukraine terrain ***************************************************** This mod is made for SF2. ---------------------------------------------------------- I. This package contains some tanks which are, or will be in the next time, in use in Ukraine War. This are: For the Ukraine: Leopard1A4 delivered by Germany Leopard1A5 delivered by Germany Leopard2A4 delivered by Canada, Spain and Norway T-64B original ukrainian tanks, former soviet T-72M1 delivered by Czech Republik and Poland For Russia: T-72B former soviet T-72BV former soviet The T-64B, the T-72 and the Leopard1A4 are repaints of the stock files made by TK. The Leopard1A5 is a repaint of the tank which made Gabilon. The Leopard2A4 is a repaint of the tank made by Kesselbrut. Alle LOD files are low poly, which reduce the workload of the computer. With my new made skins the tanks are looking good enough. The tanks are set for a timeframe from 2022 or 2023 onward. They will not appear earlier in the game. I have adjusted the values of the armour to make it more real. I also devided the hull of the tanks into two parts. The upper part has a better armour protection and the lower part a weaker armour, as it is in reality. Example for calculation of armour thickness: T-72M1 has a frontal hull armour of 3 layers of steel ( 50 mm inner plate, 60 mm outer plate, 30 mm add on plate) and one layer of Textolit (105 mm). Since Textolit has only effect against HEAT i use only the steel value to calculate. The formula is x= nominal thickness / cos(angle of armour plate) so we come to x= 140 / cos (68°) ==> x= 373,73 mm ~ 374 mm ----------------------------------------------------------------------- II. INSTALLATION: -Unzip into your SF2 mod folder ---------------------------------------------------------- III. For remarks, comments, bugs, etc please use the forum or send me a PM. ------------------------------------------------------------- IV. All files are FREEWARE. COMMERCIAL USE IS NOT ALLOWED! ------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ Hope you enjoy it. Russian T-72BV, repaint of the stock T-72A Its not perfect. The curvy shape of the turret makes it difficult to paint the ERA tiles properly. Its a pity that it is not possible to remove the smoke grenade launchers and the V-shape on the hull front. -

I took the stock Leopard1A4 tank and gave it a new skin. Its hard to believe, that a little bit paint can change the apperance of a very simple LOD so much. And this is the old Leopard 1A5 LOD made by Gabilon in 2005 with a new skin for the Ukraine terrain: -

I did some work on the panzer pack for the Ukraine terrain. I adjusted the armor to more or less correct values, included the lower hull with reduced armor thickness and added the tactical numbers and the white cross. For the T-64B i did dome photoshop to change the wheels from massive T-74 to small T-64. Here the ukrainian T-72M1 and the T-64B -

Small progress. Real life issues. I reworked the airfield file. I hope you like it. Then i changed the color of the "road" objects, which i use to build the target areas. They now fit better with the roads, that are painted on the tiles. -

As promised Basa Aerea Mar del Plata. Its a first attempt. I'm not happy with the terminal building. It is to big and the shape is wrong. I will check my folders to find a better fitting building. And dont worry about wrong parked planes. This comes later. -

Some days ago i found the old Leopard 2A1 made by Kesselbrut on my HD. I thought, why not using this old LOD to make a Leo 2A4, which we will see in the Ukraine in some weeks. So i gave it an other skin. So it looks: But i was not satisfied. Thatswhy today i made an other skin: It's astonishing what a skin can do for such a very simple LOD. I also reworked the data.ini. I changed the armour values to make them more accurate. For this i divided the hull into two parts, because in a real tank the upper frontal armour plate has a different thickness than the lower armour plate. For the Leo 2 A4 i gave the upper plate 300 mm steele and the lower plate 200 mm. Then i made similar changes for the russian T-72B and the ukrainian T-72M1. I will test this panzer pack for the Ukraine for some days and then i will release them. And tomorrow i will go back to Rio de la Plata Bay terrain and will start to build the argentinan air base Mar del Plata.- 807 replies

I tried to make water tiles for the muddy part of the Rio de la Plata Bay. But i'm not satisfied. In game it looks rather like desert than as muddy water. The screenshot shows in foreground the new water tile, in the middle the blue watertiles, which i have used in the terrain before. And in the background you see the tiles of Buenos Aires. -

Sit rep. I got the green terraintiles from Wilches and added them to the Rio de la Plata Bay terrain. Now we have a wet (green) season and a dry (brownish) season. Then i started to create Base Aeronaval Punta Indio for the Argentinians. So it looks at the moment. There is still a lot to do. The barracks in the middle of the base, the tower and so on. Then i must place the parked aircrafts to the correct positions. Will need some time. -
