Yes its terrible what happen in the Ukraine. But to be honest, i had expected that the Russians will act in this way from day one of invasion. So it was a big surprise for me, that in the first days ukrainian civilists were able to stop russian columns by simply standing in groups on the road. This was completly contrary to the soviet and the russian doctrine. I have learned in the bad old days, which seems now become to the good old days, that commanders were not allowed to push armoured troops into hostile villages of towns. They had to stop and wait till the artillery would had done the job. So the soviets had done it in Afghanistan. So they have done it in Checheniya. So they have done it in Syria. So they had planed to fight in Europe. I remember a day in mid 1989 when i was a member of a deligation who visited a soviet helicopter base. The soviet pilots proudly showed us the ODAB-500 bombs. Fuel aerosol weapons. They said: "Before the ground troops attacked a Kishlak (afghan village) we dropped one of these. One was enough to flatten a Kishlak and it is also enough for a west german village! The nuke of the small man!" What i want to say is: We have not yet seen the top escalation of russian military strikes. I fear it will become worse.

Yes. The editing of the line in the data.ini was successfull. The LOD building now has the intended skin. Thanks. But there is a new problem: Theposition of the skin on the LOD object is wrong. Looks funny, isnt it! -

I have a question to the TOD Editor. I added LOD buildings to the editor, then i placed them on the tile. It works fine. My problem is, that the LOD buildings do not draw their skin from jpg file which is originaly linked with the LOD but from terobject file which is connected with the tileset. The result you see in the screenshot above. Any idea, somebody? -
It helps without the sand, but not very much. It is not an ERA. An ERA has explosives inside. It is a simple spaced armour, which is intended to ignite the fuse of a shaped charge warhead befor he can reach the basic armour. If it is filled with sand the build up of the Hohlladungsstachel (sorry i miss the english term, perhaps shaped charge beam or stinger or so) is hampered. If it is made correct you will get not one big Hohlladungsstachel, but a lot of smaler ones, which are less powerfull. To say some numbers: In the T-72 turret you will find a inlet of melted sand (Sandstäbe) wich is 13 cm thick. This inlet is as good as 40 cm steel. Today is this outdated, but in the 1970th it was good.

How do I make NATO fighters less effective
Gepard replied to 1Patriot-of-many's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Its an game Made in USA. Of course american planes and weapons are overrated. What do you expect? If you look into the datas of AIM-9B and AA-2, which are pratically the same, you will see, that the Sidewinder has better values than the Atoll. So it is in this game. You must live with it. In a russian game it would be exactly the opposite. -
Wobblin' Tejas!
Gepard replied to 1309mariano's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I played a little bit with the Flightmodel an i was able to reduce the wobbling of the Tejas. Open file: Tejas_data.ini. Look for line: ReferenceArea=38.4 and change it into ReferenceArea=35.5 Then look for the entries of the [Left_Flaperon], [Left_Flap], [Right_Flap] and [Right_Flaperon] chapters in each of this chapters you find a line: ControlRate=1.0 change it into ControlRate=2.0 This changes help to reduce the wobbling effect. They will not eliminate it. -
All critical systems are doubled at the Ka-52 and in the engine cover are Kevlar liners. Normally the heli should be able to humble home. Maybe the crew was so shocked .... What i miss, when i see the video, is the IR-Jammer. The basic platform of the jammer is there, but not the jammer itself. To fly without this device in a warzone is suicide!

I think the future plane will be the F-18E Super Hornet. The Luftwaffe is said to become the Growler, so it would be easier for the logistics to have the F-18E as standard plane. I think the F-18 is faster to get, than the F-35.

Good News! The german finister of finance announced yesterday, that the german government wants to make the Bundeswehr to the most powerfull army in Europe till end of the decade. Suddenly they found additionally 100 billion Euros in the budget to finance the Bundeswehr in 2022 alone. I'm not sure, wheter our eastern neighbors will like this decision. A powerfull german Army on the Oder-Neisse line could cause nightmares in Poland.

Maybe. But the rotorblades of a modern combat helicopter are so designed, that they can run at least 30 minutes or more after taken a hit up to caliber 30 mm.
-
You mean this Ka-52? It got a hit in the left flare dispenser and the left engine was hit by some debris. The helicopter seems to be more or less intact, what means that it was an emergency landing. Otherwise the pilots would have been ejected automatically. Its a good question, why the pilots not have flown home? The Ka-52 can fly with only one engine. It seems to be, that the will to fight is not very strong at the russian military. Its a proof of the old word, that the russian soldiers is worth noting when acting as aggressor. Only as defender the russian soldiers are great. And Russia is the aggressor, without doubt. Thatswhy they will lose this war.

Wobblin' Tejas!
Gepard replied to 1309mariano's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I think the plane acts oversensitive to joystick input. This is a flight model issue, which you cant solve easily. The quick and easy solution is to stay below the speed level where the "wobbeling" appears and handle the joystick with care. -
Here the first confirmed picture of the pilot, called Ghost of Kiev:

What If Screenshot Thread.......
Gepard replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
When Russias behaviour became more and more aggressive against the West, the german government decided to increase the numbers of fighter planes by realignment of 12 new fighter squadrons, what means 480 new planes. To hold the costs as low as possible the german government decided for a licence production of the HAL Tejas, equipped with european engine EJ-200 and german weapons. The plane got the name "Orkan". 12 month after the decision the first Orkan fighters were delivered to the fighter squadrons. -
The Pakistanis have already the JF-17 in service. Its much cheaper to operate than the J-10. The question is, wheter Pakistan can affort it to operate a two fighter type fleet?

We had 3 female secretary of defence in row. Nobody can see any logic in the things that they had done. We spent over 50 billion Euros per year for defence, for nothing. The Russians spent some 60 billion Euros, only 10 billion more then the Germans, and look at their capabilities!
