  1. If you go to the Thirdwire update page you can download the patch to bring it to Jul 2013 level: http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_pc.htm NB You might need to download some older patches first though http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_archive.htm
  2. Before you install the patches please can you run the game and let us know what date is says in the bottom right corner of the menu screen.
  3. In the last 24 hours when I try to access the site on my iPhone 4s I'm getting the regular site and not the mobile version, even when I scroll down to the bottom and click on use mobile version. Any ideas why?
  4. Ike's airwing in action over Syria/Iraq against IS forces: F/A-18E's of VFA-143 F/A-18F's of VFA-103 F/A-18C's of VFA-131 & VFA-83 Rounding off the strike force - E/A-18G's of VAQ-140 And watching over them all, an E-2C of VAW-121 The above pictures were taken before the 25th December Russian invasion of Ukraine that saw the Eisenhower battle group, together with the USS Nassau battle group and her Marines and airwing (including AV-8B Harriers and MV-22 Ospreys) despatched from the Med northwards into the Black Sea to support the Ukrainians against the long-expected overt Russian incursion, following months of conflict with 'rebels' equipped with Russian supplied heavy weapons, including tanks and artillery. Other units deployed would include a detachment of US Navy X-47 stealth UAVs aboard the Ike, USAF bombers and a squadron of F-22 fighters to Incirlik in Turkey, as well as a number of MQ-9 Reaper armed UAVs and US Army AH-64D Longbow Apache units to Ukraine itself, operating from Ukrainian forward operating bases. Just an idea for an expansion pack for eburger68's excellent Black Sea Crisis mod if you're interested Eric. (All of the above are available here at CA, although some may be in the SF1 downloads section).
  5. Prowling around, looking for trouble...
  6. We have a couple of versions of the MQ-9 Reaper here: http://combatace.com/files/file/13153-mq-9-reaper/ http://combatace.com/files/file/14654-mq-9-new-mod/
  7. Agreed, and Homefries A-6/EA-6 superpacks are an essential addition to any install that includes modern USN/USMC action
  8. I've been considering getting SOH, but I don't know if I can justify the cost at the moment, especially when it's largely duplicating the excellent Operation Darius mod, not to mention that it's for 1st Gen games and I haven't the time to convert it to SF2:NA standard. Still, the helos do look nice... Required screenies: Razbam Prowlers, including some FSX converted skins.
  9. Great news! Are you going to re-upload the May for those of us who missed the original download please?
  10. Might look nice in Captain Scarlett's Angel Interceptor Spectrum colours.
  11. The arrival of the Hawk 205 in 2005 gave the Dhimari Air Force it's first single seat fighter since the retirement of the Hawker Hunter over 20 years previously Initial armament was the AMRAAM/Sidewinder combination as sported by the two seater 125s, as well as the ubiquitous gunpod. Perhaps the most important thing about the 205, however, was the inclusion of the air refuelling probe. Together with a newly purchased squadron of surplus USMC KC-130s Dhimar now had a force that could could loiter, carry out extended border and coastal patrols and deep strike missions against targets in the previously unreachable interior of Paran. It is believed that the Hawk 125s and the remaining Hawk 65s will be retrofitted with refuelling probes in the near future. The new Hawk 205s brought with them more advanced armaments (which would also be available to the two seat Hawk 125 fleet) including AIM-132 ASRAAM missiles to supplement and eventually replace the venerable AIM-9 sidewinders as well as advanced bombs such as Paveway III & IV LGBs and JDAMs, as well as Brimstone and ALARM missiles. The Hawk 205s represented a significant purchase both in terms of the increase in Dhimar's capabilities and also as a vital stepping stone to the acquisition of the EF-2000 Typhoon in 2017.
  12. I think Russo is doing one as part of his Hawk T1 upgrade.
  13. 2001, and the first Hawk 125's arrive in Dhimar to supplement the earlier models, which by now were sporting the grey air defence scheme fleetwide They bring with them increased weapons capabilities including LGBs, and both Maverick and HARM and anti-radar missiles for stand off attack And AIM-120 AMRAAM air to air missiles to supplement the trusty AIM-9 Sidewinders Although that doesn't mean that dumb bombs weren't used where needed so that the crews did not lose their manual bombing skills. Operating in concert with newly acquired E-2C Hawkeyes the Hawks were in action very soon after arrival as Parani fighters probed the vast desolate desert border between the two countries to test Dhimari capabilities. A flight of obsolete MiG 17 Frescoes crossed the border, tasked with carrying out a bombing raid on one of the many Dhimari observation posts that studded the frontier. Scrambled from a forward airbase the Hawks would be waiting for them The result: Four MiGs downed for no loss
  14. Do you agree with list? Top 10 Aerial Movie Dogfights

Where was BoB or the dogfights at the end of Aces High or Firefox? What about Blue Thunder vs Hughes 500MD, or F-14s vs Zeros in The Final Countdown?
  15. Best Naval Combat \ Submarine Sims

I loved Janes Fleet Command and will always have a soft spot for the old Red Storm Rising sub sim game.
  16. Dhimari Air Force Academy Hawk T1 Some Hawk 65s were assigned to air defence squadrons and were painted in in air superiority gray That didn't mean that they weren't used in the ground attack role when the need arose The vast majority of ground strikes, however were carried out by the desert camo'd Hawk 65s Primary armament initially comprised rocket pods and both iron and cluster bombs as well as the almost permanently fitted gunpod. Later upgrades would give the Hawk 65 PGM capability with 1000lb LGBs. These were initially designated by ground forces but later a number of Pave Spike pods were purchased to allow self- and buddy-designation. These were a precursor to the much more advanced weapons capabilities that the Hawk 125 and 205 would bring .... (Note that these aren't my skins and the decals are from Spinners excellent Dhimari decals pack. I've just tried to bring them together in my ham fisted fashion!)
  17. Dhimari Desert Hawks Something I've been toying with for a while, but maybe Paulopanz will do a better job (hint, hint....) My premise is that Dhimar is a former British colony/protectorate (a bit like Saudi and the Gulf states) and has historically used British equipment. An oil rich country, Dhimar has plenty of money but no real need for advanced fighters, especially when Paran is primarily operating MiG 17s and MiG 21s. So, for over 35 years, from the time that the last Hunters were retired in 1981 until the arrival of the first Eurofighter Typhoons in 2017 (purchased to counter a Parani acquisition of Russian built Su-35s) the Dhimari air force operated essentially a single type of fast jet. After qualifying on the Hawk T1 a Dhimari pilot could expect to be posted to one of the Hawk 65 squadrons, which operated in both air to air and air to ground roles. As the Parani threat evolved and they purchased later model MiG 21s and then MiG 23s so the Dhimari Air Force moved to counter this in 2001 by purchasing Hawk T2s and the operational version, designated Hawk 125, and then in 2005 acquiring the single seat Hawk 205. The two seaters operated primarily in the attack/strike role while the single seaters took the air to air taskings, although both could, and did, swap as needed. Hopefully more pics to follow when I can sort out a screenshot issue (which I think is linked to memory on my ancient computer!).

  19. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-29288277 Six Russian fighter jets were intercepted by American and Canadian planes off the coast of Alaska on Wednesday, US defence officials have confirmed. They entered what is known as the Air Defence Identification Zone (ADIZ), but did not enter US air space. The planes, two of which were MiG 31 jets, left the area without incident. Sounds like the beginning of iron Eagle II And in a nod to that classic movie, the BBC have posted a picture of a MiG 29 instead of a MiG 31!
  20. Shana Tova to all CA members

    Shana Tova guys!
  21. Is that why the Superhornets' wings aren't folded on deck? But on land they do fold when parked

  23. My sister in law's boss was a pilot on one that flew into Entebbe. More recently he was on one of the new Israeli C-130 Samsons presented to the airforce. I think someone posted a video of the ceremony here a while back.
