Top Gun Campaigns
allenjb42 replied to JSF_Aggie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Looks like this will be awesome and worth a fresh SF2:DACM install! Has anyone thought of maybe a Red Flag campaign for the USAF (and other participants)? Would love to see some '80s F-5E aggressors from the 64th & 65th as well as more modern types (F-15 & F16) if there are later campaigns. I'm looking at the Michael Skinner/George Hall book on my shelf as well as remembering the Nellis scenes from Firefox and that pretty dire TV movie with Barry Bostwick & William Devane! -

Operation Desert Fox: interest, assistance, and permissions.
allenjb42 replied to Swordsman422's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
As far as I know the only RAF involvement was a force of 12 Tornados based at Ali Salem AB in Kuwait. They were flown by 12 Squadron personnel who were manning the Operation Bolton detachment. They were a mix of GR.Mk1A & GR.Mk1B and wore the markings of several units including 617 squadron, 14 Squadron and 11 Squadron and had both grey and grey/green camo schemes. There's a short article in World Air Power Journal Volume 38 (Autumn/Fall 1999) which says that Tornado missions were unrefuelled and lasted about 1.5 hours. The planes used TIALD and LGBs (including GBU 24 Paveway III for the first time). Hope that helps. -

From Wiki: South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures, languages, and religions. Its pluralistic makeup is reflected in the constitution's recognition of 11 official languages, which is among the highest number of any country in the world. Two of these languages are of European origin: English and Afrikaans, the latter originating from Dutch and serving as the first language of most white and coloured South Africans. Though English is commonly used in public and commercial life, it is only the fourth most-spoken first language. BTW I'm voting for Bush War, hopefully in a real world Southern Africa theatre. -

Would love to hear the back story on this one! The Great War just went on and on and on.... -
I'm having a bit of a clear out and am selling a load of books & games on ebay.co.uk Books include paperbacks by Richard Herman & Harold Coyle amongst others and military & history non-fiction hardbacks & paperbacks. Games include EAW, Falcon 4.0 & Allied Force, M1TP2, and several of the Janes Flight sims. I'm loathe to get rid of anything but my daughter's been nagging for a bigger room which means the 'office' has got to relocate to smaller premises and to be honest I'm not going to play most of these games again (I really only play my SF2 installs now). It's the same for the books. What I know I'll read again I'll keep and the rest have got to go. The non-fiction & reference books I can always find the info on the internet, and I want to read the paperbacks I can download either as .pdf or might even drag myself into the 21st Century and get a Kindle or something. Anyway, the stuff's on or in the process of going onto ebay - my seller name is allenjb422 Have a look if you're interested. I can also find out postage to non-UK destinations. We now return you to our regular programming...

I Need A Project To Do
allenjb42 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Maybe not as sexy as the fighters or attack jets, but how about a range of international skins for Dels' C-130's? There's scope for lots of terrain appropriate eye candy for populating the airbases in single missions as well as fleshing out the support for various nations in campaigns, and with a such a huge range of different camo schemes you won't get as bored or jaded as you might be skinning the umpteenth grey F-16. -
North Cape Water Map?
allenjb42 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Does anyone have one of these with SF2:NA style naval stations added? I'd like to add this to my TSF install as an add-on map and would like to fly some strikes against soviet shipping (an invasion force moving down the Norwegian coast?) and maybe some add some support from nato carrier planes flying close air support missions or an alpha strike on Murmansk! -

Question about Desert terrain
allenjb42 replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
There's a really old set to change the SFP1 desert to Euro style tiles. Not sure how compatible it is with the latest SF2 version though. I think it's in the SF1 downloads section and also here http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/StrikeFighterTerrain.htm -

SF2 WW2 Northern Europe/North Sea Terrain (v2)
allenjb42 replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Seconded. Also a version of the Norway_water map with shipping areas enabled would be great for flying carrier strikes or maybe RAF or Luftwaffe anti shipping strikes against convoys or battlegroups, and of course for WW3 scenarios too. But even without, this is an excellent map - great stuff Kevin! -

allenjb42 replied to DEVIL11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
IIRC the EA-6B Superpack is dependent on: a) The A-6 Superpack being installed first http://combatace.com/files/file/12897-a-6-superpack/ b) Your install including SF2:NA Do you qualify those prerequisites? Edit: I just realized you started the thread asking about the SF1 version of the EA-6B. That's a totally different model than the EA-6B Superpack is designed for, so don't try to combine them. -

allenjb42 replied to DEVIL11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Or you could just download this conversion by Wrench who has done all of the hard work for you! http://combatace.com/files/file/12770-hawkers-ea-6b-prowler-upgradeupdate-pak-for-sf2/ I think you need to download the SF1 version and then install this on top but as Wrench says in the file announcement: As always, fairly easy to follow, yet detailed install instructions are included. Please read them! The Notes section contains further details, descriptions, elightenments, illuminations, and so forth. Be good to read them, too. No, seriously ... unzip this archive and =READ= everything first!!! It's exceptionly important you do so....and equally important, to follow the instructions exactly as I've given them to you! -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-25379391 According to a report from Iran's conservative news agency Tasnim, the alleged spy was arrested after 10 months of intelligence work and had once had a meeting with British agents in London. It quotes Dadkhoda Salari, the head of the Kerman court, as saying he is aged over 50, with an "academic education". He is said to be fluent in English but does not hold an official post. Could it possibly be this chap? Of course we all know that the 'academic' Professor Henry Jones is just a cover, but don't tell the Iranians!

For JM and all the other Star Wars fans in the house.... William Shakespeare's Star Wars... http://www.scribd.com/doc/145919432/William-Shakespeare-s-Star-Wars-An-Excerpt Return once more to a galaxy far, far away with this sublime retelling of George Lucas’s epic Star Wars in the style of the immortal Bard of Avon. The saga of a wise (Jedi) knight and an evil (Sith) lord, of a beautiful princess held captive and a young hero coming of age, Star Wars abounds with all the valour and villainy of Shakespeare’s greatest plays. ’Tis a tale told by fretful droids, full of faithful Wookiees and fearstome stormtroopers, signifying...pretty much everything. Reimagined in glorious iambic pentameter—and complete with twenty gorgeous Elizabethan illustrations--William Shakespeare’s Star Wars will astound and edify Rebels and Imperials alike. Zounds! This is the book you’re looking for.

the major C-130 upgrade I'm doing at the moment. Great news! Any chance of having a look to see if you can include an Israeli C-130J-30 Samson please? http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/israel-orders-special-c-130j-30s-05011/ Thanks -
Battle of Britain (1980) mission briefing.
allenjb42 replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
Any chance of including the Bae Hawk T1? Although they were/are trainers, IIRC they have a war role as point defence interceptors with Sidewinders, wing tanks and the centreline gun pod and would be flown by the instructor pilots. Presumably they might also have a limited usefulness for anti shipping strikes or ground attack against the Soviet invasion force with rocket pods, bombs and the centreline gun pod.
