A-6A Intruder, 'Flight of the Intruder' Special Edition Readme This is a modification of the A-6A Intruder by Monty CZ/Column5, released to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the publication of the novel 'Flight of the Intruder' by Stephen Coonts. Ensure you have the weapons pack installed. Instalation: 1) Extract A-6A FOTI file into Objects/Aircraft 2) Optional: Extract Menu file to your main SF/WOV/WOE folder 2) Go fly and blow things up! Contributors: External model of plane by Monty CZ Flight model by Column5, modded by gbreuder and allenjb42 Damage model by Monty CZ/Column5 Loadouts modded by allenjb42 to try to reflect the loadouts mentioned in the book for the various missions depicted. Skins for Devil 505 and VA196 by gbreuder, based on work by pappychecksix Hangar screen by Wrench, modded by allenjb42 Loading screen - 'Going In Hot' by William S Phillips, depicting 'Flight of the Intruder' author Stephen Coonts in action over Vietnam. Menu music - samples from the 'Flight of the Intruder' movie soundtrack by Basil Poledouris Thanks to all of those listed above - they did all the hard work and gave their permissions for release, I just packaged it all together - to Stephen Coonts and of course to TK for creating these great games for us to tinker with. The Devil 505 skin represents the A-6A flown by Jake Grafton and Morgan McPherson in the book and movie 'Flight of the Intruder' by Stephen Coonts, who really did fly with VA196 over Vietnam. Although Morg gets killed in the first chapter of the book (and after about five minutes of the movie), he and Jake had flown together for two years prior to that point, so you can use the skin to recreate some of their adventures before Morg's untimely death. Besides, you can use the A-6B to fly with Tiger Cole! Unfortunately there is no publicly available Morgan Mcpherson pilot model at this time, so if someone would be kind enough to make and release one I would be only too pleased to include it in an update. In view of this, the data.ini is set up to use the Jake Grafton pilot available at Wrench's site at http://wrench1smog.com as the pilot, and the default PILOT as the B/N. This plane is compatible with all of the A-6 skins currently available. You'll just need to go into the decal.ini file within the skin folder and edit it so that all references to the original A-6 model the skin was made for are changed to A-6A FOTI. Check out the skin folders within this download for an example. Have fun, and good hunting! Allen (allenjb42) Burton Any problems, find me at combatace.com, simhq.com or column5.us
  3. Su-24 fly past - USS Ross

Presumably the Captain of the Ross spilled his coffee all over his console and down his shirtfront during the unauthorised flyby!
  4. Apparently May 13th is Top Gun Day. Anyone else feeling the need. The need for Speed?
  5. Yes you would still be able to fly an Israeli campaign in a merged install from SF2:E if you also have SF2:I installed.. What Wrench is saying is that by only having what you need in a particular install that makes it a more customised experience. For example, when I'm choosing a mission in one of my SF2:I Installs (I've got 2: 1948 - 56 and 1967 up to date) I don't want to be scrolling through RAF Harriers, Spanish F/A-18s, Argentine Super Entendards etc. that have no place in the region, spoil the immersion and just clog up the game. Yes, I've got a basic SF2 with all and sundry in also, but I rarely use it because it's just so slow to load sometimes. So, all my installs are 'merged' (i.e. they include all of the stock planes, terrains, campaigns etc), but are 'separate' in that I tailor them for the specific experience I want. Hope that makes sense. Here's a screenie of my desktop today with my SF installs on the right, although with a 3 day Bank Holiday weekend to play with and a glaring gap where a SF2: WW2 Pacific install should be that might change over the next 36 hours! Welcome to the wonderful world of Strike Fighters and Combatace!!
  6. I know that we have the AV-8A and various versions of the AV-8B, but is there an AV-8C for the 2nd gen games? I think there was one for SFP1, but iirc it wasn't a mod of a stock harrier but a third party model. Has anyone updated it for 2nd gen before I look through my archives and do the updating dance? I'm putting together a USMC centred install so wouldn't mind having it for completeness, especially with green/grey camo and low viz markings. Thanks in advance.
  7. Trying to get this old (SF1) warrior back to (SF2) life with Allenjb42 and 331Killerbee. Somewhere off the coast of Dhimar, yesterday
  8. No problem. I'll sort it out and upload ASAP.
  9. Eole, you've freed up my weekend to fly the Harrier instead of editing it!! Thanks so much guys!

  16. How well do you know Top Gun?

I used to consider anyone born after Star Wars came out in 1977 as a youngster compared to me, and now you say I've got to do the same for Top Gun? Wow, that makes me feel old!
  17. How well do you know Top Gun?

    17/20 Got 9, 11 & 18 wrong!
  18. With the release of the excellent AH-1J and the prospect of more Marine Cobras in future I was thinking of getting the YAP pack with the CH-46 and CH-53D to fill out my USMC air wing. Has anyone bought this? How do they fly in SF2? And can anyone post some screenies of the skins? Thanks in advance.
  19. It's a girl!

Fantastic news! Congratulations to all the family.
  20. Intercept footage from a Bear

Some friendly advice for the great British public on how to recognise German Soviet Russian bombers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-magazine-monitor-31537705 For some reason I have a hankering to play the old Janes Fighters Anthology missions that had you flying Typhoons against fleets of Bears in a re-run of the Battle of Britain! I always used to have movie theme playing in the background too

  24. It’s Official: Sony Scraps ‘The Interview’

Doesn't the new Tom Clancy novel have a US/NK conflict as part of the plot, so why haven't they hacked the publisher's website? Obviously the NKs don't want to take on Jack Ryan!
