Great list Ed. Looking forward to whatever you bring us. btw Never heard of the Q1W1 Lorna and had to look it up. Looks a lot like a Ju-88 at first glance. -
I'm looking to buy a movie and can't make my mind up
allenjb42 replied to Skyviper's topic in The Pub
I thought that Predator 2 was pretty good when I first saw it. It's a lot like the very first Dark Horse comics spin off from the first movie, except that it's set in New York instead of LA and the 'Danny Glover' character was actually the brother of 'Dutch' played by Arnie in the original movie. http://www.darkhorse.com/Comics/91-346/Predator-1 For me the best bit about the movie was the trophy room on the predator's ship and the very familiar skull on the wall..... -
Anti Aircraft Laser unveiled at Farnborough

I still think that small fighters will be able to avoid the turbo lasers and we'll have to destroy them ship to ship plane to plane. :wink2: -

I thought that setting the graphics options to the max levels increased the amount of parked aircraft (of whatever type). -
MoD lifts lid on unmanned combat plane prototype

The Ministry of Defence has unveiled its prototype unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV). Taranis is a concept design for a long-range strike plane that has taken over three million man hours to produce. Full story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/10602105.stm EDI anyone? -

Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-24 skins readme All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. All I've done is to re-format them for SF\WOV\WOE and add a textureSet to each skin. Not all of the countries for which we have skins are included in the standard NATIONS.ini list, so I've left those as Soviet. It doesn't make any difference to the skins' appearance as there are no decals to worry about. If you have the New Nations mod that includes these missing countries then feel free to modify the relevant TextureSet. All you need to do is to extract the skin to your Objects\Aircraft\Mi-24 folder, then go fly and blow up some stuff. Thanks must go to the A Team for making the Mi-24 for SF\WOV\WOE, Tim Conrad for the original Mi-24V, and of course TK for giving us these great sims to play with. This skin is based on Tim Conrad's textures. Enjoy, and good hunting Allen ps You can use these skins in any mods, campaigns etc, but please name check me and the original skinners in your credits as a courtesy. Thanks -

A surprise found in my Inbox today...
allenjb42 replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Prop Heads Forum
Capun's just put out a Sea Gladiator too. As his model is based on Thicko's models we could expect a Mk 1 in due course from him. Here's a search at the Military Machine blog for books on the Gladiator (there might be some Roman stuff in there too for you fans of Captain Clarence Oveur!): http://military-machine.blogspot.com/?domains=military-machine.blogspot.com&q=gladiator&sa=Search&sitesearch=military-machine.blogspot.com&client=pub-3868273468931858&forid=1&channel=9989165702&ie=ISO-8859-1&oe=ISO-8859-1&flav=0000&sig=mh1figYFoBb4pMbO&cof=GALT%3A%2399C9FF%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A%23191919%3BVLC%3A663399%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3A000000%3BLBGC%3A336699%3BALC%3A80FF00%3BLC%3A80FF00%3BT%3AFFFFCC%3BGFNT%3Afffff0%3BGIMP%3Afffff0%3BFORID%3A11&hl=en -
'Mods' folder question
allenjb42 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I've looked for this in the KB but can't find anything. I'm running on XP and I've got a merged install in C:\Program Files\Thirdwire and my mods folder is in C:\Documents and Settings\Allen\My Documents\Thirdwire. So far so good. However, I want to move or reinstall my merged install into a portable hard drive, so the path will be J:\Program Files\Thirdwire Now, how do I move my mods folder to the J drive? Do I create J:\Documents and Settings\Allen\My Documents\Thirdwire, or if I just create shortcuts for SF2, SF2:V etc from the J drive on the desktop and then run the game will it create a mods folder in the J drive and I can then move my existing mods folder over from C to J? Thanks -

File Name: A-6E USMC File Submitter: allenjb42 File Submitted: 31 Mar 2007 File Updated: 19 May 2007 File Category: A-6 A-6E USMC This is a modification of the A-6E TRAM Intruder. List of changes from A-6E TRAM v1.1 1 Weapons stations de-grouped to enable asymetrical loadouts 2 Added GP to centreline station to allow buddy refueling store 3 Added ARM to wing stations to allow AGM-45,AGM-78 & AGM-88 4 Added CGR to wing stations to allow AGM-84A & AGM-84D 5 Added EOGR to wing stations to allow AGM-84E 6 Added EOGB to wing stations to allow AGM-62 Walleye 7 Added LGR to wing stations to allow AGM-65G 8 Changed Nation to USMC and amended weapons stations to USMC 9 Amended service dates to USMC service dates for A-6E TRAM/SWIP 10 Amended loadout.ini to use real-world loadouts 11 Added new hanger and loading screens by Wrench Further amendments 25.4.07 12 Added IRM to wing stations to allow AIM-9 (after much debate!) 13 Added NUC to inner wing stations and centreline to allow nuclear bombs 12 Added canopy animation at low speed 14 Deleted Sundowner's VMA533 low viz skin as it's already available with the A-6E TRAM. Added Paul Nortness's VVMA533 low viz and VMA533 high viz skins. Thanks to USAFMTL and to all those involved in the original A-6 project (listed below) for making this great plane and for their permission to create this mod, to Wrench for the fast work in creating the hangar and loading screens, Paul Nortness for his permission to use his skins and of course to TK for creating these great games for us to tinker with. Installation: Copy the A-6E USMC folder to your Strike Fighters AIRCRAFT folder. Copy the two fueltank .bmp's to your weapons folder. This assumes you have the weapons pack installed. This plane is compatible with all of the A-6E skins currently available. You'll just need to go into the decal.ini file witin the skin folder and edit it so that all references to A-6E_TRAM are changed to A-6E USMC. Check out the skin folder within this download for an example. Have fun, and good hunting! 'Mods' folder question

'Mods' folder question
allenjb42 replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
There's no options.ini in the main install C:\Program Files\Thirdwire\Strike Fighters 2 but there are options.ini files in the mod folders created after running the game in: C:\Documents and Settings\Allen\My Documents\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2 C:\Documents and Settings\Allen\My Documents\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2 Europe C:\Documents and Settings\Allen\My Documents\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2 Vietnam C:\Documents and Settings\Allen\My Documents\Thirdwire\StrikeFighters2 Israel If I re-install the base game to the J drive do I need to leave those folders, move the contents except the options.ini files to the J drive and then edit the options.ini files to point to new mods folders in the J drive, or is there a way of taking everything off the C drive? -
I've flown all of the sims on the list but push came to shove and I voted for F-19. It was the first sim that I really got into and spent ages on it, first on friend's PC (cyan sea et al!), and then later on my own Amiga and then PC. Truth be told, those first missions on my friend's computer were the best, and often lasted well over 1 1/2 hours (because the computer was just so damn slow!), threading your way between the threat circles of the SAM sites, dodging the IL-76 throwing AA-10 missiles at you and eventually tossing an FAE at the sub pens at Severdmorsk(sp?) but at least they gave you time to read a manual that was written like a Tom Clancy novel. After F-19, and before the Strike Fighter's series, probably the most time I've spent has been on the Janes fighters series, although I did like EAW a lot but still can't get it to run on my current system.
