  1. My take on the next few releases, for what it's worth; SF2: Tomcat - From everything TK's said, I think this going to be GIUK or North Cape scenarios, like Microprose F-14 Fleet Defender back in the day. The F-14A will replace the F-4J on the USN's decks and he gets to re-use the A6 & A-7 (maybe with an A-6 cockpit). NATO planes could be re-used from SF2:E and he can add skins for Norwegian F-104s ( and maybe F-16s too). For the opposition maybe we will see a MiG 25, Bear and\or Backfire and some Sov warships (including Kiev and possibly a Yak 38 too?). It may well be easier for him to do Iran\Iraq (he has most of the other aircraft already available, except the F-5, so would only need skins and a terrain) but I don't see it happening. I wouldn't put it past him to include an Iranian skin for the F-14 as a teaser or to spur a 2nd Gen remake of this scenario though. I think after that we may see a return to SF2:E, with TK dialing it back to the 1940s\50s - he said as much when he said that he made the Spitfires for SF2:I with an eye on putting up some opposition for the P-51 over Europe in a merged install. So say he goes for a Berlin Airlift gone hot scenario we could see some USAF\NATO fighters from that era, like the F-80 and F-86, bombers like the B-29, and some more allied transport types, possibly a C-46 or more likely a C-54. The red side would get some prop Yaks or MiGs, maybe an early transport type and possibly an Il-10 to support the Red Army's thrust in western Europe. So, after a new game (SF2: Tomcat) and an expansion pack (SF2:E - Berlin Crisis), we may then see another new game - SF2: Korea, because by then then TK will have far fewer new planes to add, such as the Sea Fury, F4U and F9F for the UN and the La-9 for NK, and can concentrate on a new terrain and skins for the Koerean era planes. And in time an expansion pack for this one could give us a 1980s Korean War II scenario with F-4s, F-16s etc against MiGs, Sukhois etc. Of course I'm probably totally wrong!
  2. I've been toying with the idea of a Libya\Egypt install. They fought a brief war in the 1970s and a 1980s scenario would be doable too, either a straight fight between the two or part of a wider NATO\Warpac conflict in the Med, maybe set at the time of the USN\Libyan confontations. The planeset matchup is quite interesting, and we have pretty much all of the aircraft, and many of the skins, required - Libya has MiG-21, -23 and -25, Mirage 5 & F1 and Su-22s, and Egypt would have MiG-21, Su-7 & 20 and Mirage 5 to start with, and then also F-4E, F-16A and Mirage 2000 in a 1980s scenario. Tu-16s and Tu-22s could also be included for Egypt and Libya respectively. For helicopters, both sides have Mi-8s, and the Libyans have Mi-25s too. What sort of ground objects (tanks, APCs, AAA and SAMs) would be needed for each side in 1970s and 1980s scenarios? Do they both have Soviet equipment? The Libya map is not really useful because it doesn't have the border with Egypt, but if we had a modernised North Africa terrain based on Edwards\Wrench's WW2 version that would be perfect. What do you think?
  3. In hospital at the mo

Just a Quickie cos I'm typing this on my brother's iPhone. I'm currently in hospital with a collPsed lung. Been here for two weeks so far, on my third chest drain with daily xrays. Hopefully they won't have to operate. Looks like I'll have a lot to download when I get home!!

  5. In hospital at the mo

Op went well and am in ICU at the moment. I think they may move me to a ward later today or tomorrow. And the nurses...not too bad at all!
  6. Great stuff! Thanks very much for this one to all involved.
  7. In hospital at the mo

Six months later..... I finally got my date through for the op. I go in this Friday (11 June) and expect to have the procedure the next day. I should be in hospital for about a week and then resting up at home for 2-3 weeks before getting back to work. If I miss the release of the 1948/56 SF2:I addon at least I'll have a few weeks to play with it when I get home! Mannie, any chance of getting some hot Israeli nurses shipped over here?
  8. Well there's this skin at Avsim for Russo's P-47N http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=sfpt&DLID=50944
  9. I love it when a plan comes together...

  11. This info is about the squadrons for which we have aircraft available in-game (including DAT planes). Some of these squadrons also operated other types which we don't have available, so I haven't mentioned them. The info covers periods outside those which you've proposed for the campaign Dave, but it's here if you need it. 12. Sorry for the delay guys. I'll try and post some info on the squadrons' movements tonight when I get home.
  13. Oh for the love a...

Well they could relaese it as a 30th Anniversary tie in in 2016! Seriously though, they're bringing out new Star Wars games all the time, and the first movie was released in 1977. BTW, Is it a sign that I'm getting old when I think anyone born after 1977 is just a kid. Is it just me?
  14. Well if you upload them, I'll download them!
  15. Try these: http://military-machine.blogspot.com/2010/05/avia-s-199-cs-199-in-detail.html http://military-machine.blogspot.com/2009/09/spitfire-star-of-israel.html http://military-machine.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
  16. With all the Luftwaffe 08 FMs and TK's Spitfire FM that could maybe be applied to the DAT Mk1, we would only really need the Hurricane to be updated for it to be game on for an updated BoB campaign...
  17. Caption Competition :)

Surfing the net looking for some online dogfighting. (did you see what I did there?)
  18. Israel Air Service at it's founding - 10 November 1947 (total: 9 aircraft) Sde Dov - Seabee (1), RWD-13 (2), Autocrat (1), Tiger Moth (2), Taylorcraft (3) Israel Air Service Order of Battle on Israel's first full day of independence - 15 May 1948 (total: 36 aircraft) Sde Dov - A Sqn - C-47 (2), Dragon Rapide (1), Norseman (1), Bonanza (2), Seabee (1), Autocrat (1), Auster AOP (14), RWD-13 (2), Taylorcraft (1), Tiger Moth (2) Ekron - Air Transport Command - C-46 (1) Niram\Dorot - Negev Sqn - Taylorcraft (1), Auster AOP (2) Yavneel\Mahanayim - Galilee Sqn - Taylorcraft (1), Auster AOP (2) Europe (Czechoslovakia?) - Air Transport Command - C-46 (1), C-54 (1) Israel Airforce Order of Battle - End of 1948 (total: 107 aircraft) Ekron Station flight - Taylorcraft (1) 35 Sqn - Norseman (2), Harvard (7) 69 Sqn - B-17 (3) Air Transport Command - C-46 (9), C-54 (1), Lockheed Lodestar (1), Hudson (1), C-69 (1) Niram\Dorot 2 Sqn - Piper Cub (2), Auster AOP (1) Ramat David 3 Sqn - Dragon Rapide (1), Piper Cub (3), Auster AOP (2), Taylorcraft (1) 101 Sqn - Spitfire (14), BT-13 (1), P-51 (2), S-199 (6), Seabee (1) 103 Sqn - C-47 (6), DC-5 (1), Mosquito PR (1), Beaufighter (2) Sde Dov 1 Sqn - Dragon Rapide (5), Argus (2), Bonanza (3), Norecrin (2), Piper Cub (12), RWD-13 (1), Auster AOP (9) Of course, aircraft arrived and were lost during 1948. On 8 July 1948 the Heyl Ha'Avir had 60 aircraft, although only 9 could be considered to be combat types (S-199s). The B-17s arrived around 15 July and the first of the Spits flew on 23 July. By 17 September IAF strength was 92 aircraft, including 20 fighters and 3 bombers. During the course of the war 15-18 aircraft were downed by AAA or destroyed on the ground, 2 were shot down by enemy fighters, 34-38 were lost in operational accidents, and 2 were captured by enemy forces. 23 pilots, 10 other aircrew, and 10 ground personell were killed , many of them foreign volunteers, 2 pilots were listed as MIA, and 4 aircrew were captured. 27 aircraft were downed in air engagements - 20 Egyptian, 1 Syrian, 5 British and 1 civilian. Another 6 aircraft were destroyed either by Israeli anti-aircraft fire or on the ground. Many of the Israeli units moved base during the course of the war. I'll dig out some information and post it to help with the campaign construction.
  19. Have you checked the key maps in the game options? Maybe you inadvertantly set esc for exit the whole game instead of just to exit the mission?
  20. Any chance of this one at some point? Got to be one of the coolest Spit schemes ever, and fits in nicely with SF2:I\WOI too!
  21. Dave, do you need any info on the Israeli AF's OOB in 1948?
  22. Sorry I won't be able to help with this project. But I came up with a motto for your team: Addon...? This is Suez!
  23. http://forum.combatace.com/files/file/1630-new-nations-pack/ Have fun.
  24. From Wiki: Royal Navy AEW capability had been lost when the Fairey Gannet aeroplane was withdrawn after the last of the RN's fleet carriers, HMS Ark Royal, was decommissioned in 1978. During the Falklands War a number of warships were lost, with casualties, due to the lack of an indigenous AEW presence - the RAF Shackleton AEW.2 proposed fleet cover was too unresponsive and at too great a distance to be practical. Two HAS2 Sea Kings were modified in 1982. They were both flying within 11-weeks as the AEW2A and deployed with 824 'D' Flight on HMS Illustrious and served in the Falklands after the cessession of hostilities.
  25. Raden, if you've seen an Egyptian Herc skin please can you link it as I've not seen one. I could probably mock up a Libyan Fishbed from one of the desert skins around. Kevin, I've already made Egypt friendly in the main nations.ini (it makes it a lot easier getting the western planes to work). This is the Modern NAfrica_nations.ini I've got so far Theater] TheaterName=Modern North Africa Location001=Western Desert Location002=Cyrenaica Location003=Greece Location004=Crete Location005=Albania [Nation001] NationID=035 Name=Libya DisplayName=Libyan Air Force Alignment=ENEMY PilotNameList=NamesArabic.lst RankList=RanksRAF.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=SovietFighter Formation.Attack=SovietFighter Formation.Bomber=SovietBomber Formation.Transport=SovietBomber Formation.Tank=SovietTank Formation.MobileAD=SovietAD PilotTrainingStandard=POOR GenderRatio=0 [Nation002] NationID=031 Name=Egypt DisplayName=Eqyptian Air Force Alignment=ENEMY PilotNameList=NamesArabic.lst RankList=RanksRAF.lst CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst Formation.Fighter=SovietFighter Formation.Attack=SovietFighter Formation.Bomber=SovietBomber Formation.Transport=SovietBomber Formation.Tank=SovietTank Formation.MobileAD=SovietAD PilotTrainingStandard=POOR GenderRatio=0 Do I need to a limited nations list too? I'm testing this in a new fully patched install of WOI so that I can use the Egyptian & Libyan skins.
