  7. So we got any Bikers out there....

Well, my mate made it back from his Great Trek. He's written a book about his adventures http://www.amazon.co.uk/Search-Life-Motorcycle-Odyssey/dp/0956476503/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1265212456&sr=8-14 I'm going to have to get it because his blog got blocked when he crossed the border into China, I wanted to find out what happened next and he won't tell me! Disaster struck when he got home though! http://www.burytimes.co.uk/news/4738090.Globe_trotting_bike_taken_during_short_trip_to_store/?ref=rss (edited for spelling mistake)
  8. I remember reading somewhere, but I don't remember where, that the best pilots were moved up to the newest planes, so your A-4 pilot could have moved to F-16s. I also know a pilot who served in 1982 who flew A-4s. I spoke to him about his experiences once and seem to remember that he was fairly newly qualified at the time and he said that once he was more experienced he would be moved on to more advanced aircraft. He told me about having to hit targets accurately in urban Beirut with only dumb bombs when the targets (mortars, heavy machine guns, ammo dumps etc) were pretty close to civilian targets such as schools, mosques, churches etc or firendly troops. He said that it was pretty hairy to start with but that they got so proficient that the ground units started to request them specifically rather than wait for an aircraft armed with LGBs or a helicopter gunship with TOWs.

It would have been nice with a skull and crossbones on the tail!
  16. I've not used this campaign but the name suggests that it's for SF2 rather than SF2E. Or at least for a merged install that includes the desert terrain.
  17. Can Baltika's reply be added to the KB and\or as a sticky to the propheads forum? With the link to Wrench's how to set up a seperate install and the main WW2 links it's that good.
  18. Mi-24 Ukraine

    Version

    84 downloads

Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-24 skins readme All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. All I've done is to re-format them for SF\WOV\WOE and add a textureSet to each skin. Not all of the countries for which we have skins are included in the standard NATIONS.ini list, so I've left those as Soviet. It doesn't make any difference to the skins' appearance as there are no decals to worry about. If you have the New Nations mod that includes these missing countries then feel free to modify the relevant TextureSet. All you need to do is to extract the skin to your Objects\Aircraft\Mi-24 folder, then go fly and blow up some stuff. Thanks must go to the A Team for making the Mi-24 for SF\WOV\WOE, Tim Conrad for the original Mi-24V, and of course TK for giving us these great sims to play with. This skin is based on Mike Pearson's textures and converted with his kind permission. Enjoy, and good hunting Allen ps You can use these skins in any mods, campaigns etc, but please name check me and the original skinners in your credits as a courtesy. Thanks
  19. OK, let's say you have WOE installed in c\Thirdwire\Wings Over Europe and want to create a WW2 European theatre install:- 1) Navigate to the Thirdwire folder, right click on the Wings Over Europe folder and 'copy', then move your mouse to a free space in the Thirdwire folder, right click and 'paste' 2) Next rename your new Wings Over Europe folder to something like Wings Over Europe WW2ETO, go into the folder and send the WOE.exe to the desktop as a shortcut to that install, and rename the shortcut accordingly so you don't get mixed up on your desktop. You could also change the icon to something more appropriate too. 3) Now the fun bit. In your new Wings Over Europe WW2ETO folder you'll need to go into the objects\aircraft and objects\ground objects folders and delete all the modern stuff and doenload and install the WW2 planes, tanks, ships etc you want, together with the appropriate skins, pilots etc. 4) A WW2 weapons pack should round things off nicely. 5) You can make as many installs as you like, for WW2 Pacific or Med. action, or any other theatre or era that we have mods available for. For a WW1 install it's even simpler - buy First Eagles!
