  1. File Name: Mi-24 Demcratic Republic of Afghanistan Airforce, Bagram 1981 File Submitter: allenjb42 File Submitted: 06 Sep 2009 File Category: Mil Helicopters Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-24 skins readme All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. All I've done is to re-format them for SF\WOV\WOE and add a textureSet to each skin. Not all of the countries for which we have skins are included in the standard NATIONS.ini list, so I've left those as Soviet. It doesn't make any difference to the skins' appearance as there are no decals to worry about. If you have the New Nations mod that includes these missing countries then feel free to modify the relevant TextureSet. All you need to do is to extract the skin to your Objects\Aircraft\Mi-24 folder, then go fly and blow up some stuff. Thanks must go to the A Team for making the Mi-24 for SF\WOV\WOE, Tim Conrad for the original Mi-24V, and of course TK for giving us these great sims to play with. This skin is based on SteveB's excellent textures and converted with his kind permission. Enjoy, and good hunting Allen ps You can use these skins in any mods, campaigns etc, but please name check me and the original skinners in your credits as a courtesy. Thanks pps Here is a list of Mi-24 operators, together with the versions that they use, to assist you in adding skins to the most appropriate helicopter: About 700 in Russian Army service, most with helicopter attack regiments of Mi-8/17s and Mi-24s. Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam/Wings Over Europe etc Mi-24 skins readme All credit for these skins goes to their creators as detailed below. 15. The Russian really were coming...

  16. Confirmed. That is Hebrew. The Hebrew words don't agree with the Italian(?) one for the same numbers though. Have you tried speaking to Mannie or Nesher or one of the other Israelis to help translate it?
  17. I think the Norwegian skin was part of the Vipers package that included the F-16A, B, C, D and IAF versions too. I just had a quick look at Avsim and couldn't find it though.
  18. A day at the museum

Took a trip to the Imperial Museum North in Manchester today with my nine year old daughter. She loved it, from the former Iraqi T-55 in the car park to the USMC AV-8A Harrier suspended from the ceiling in the main exhibition hall. There were artillery pieces, loads of artifacts and small arms, photos, testimonies, and even a Trabant car (a relic from the Cold War). There was an audio visual presentation showing the experiences of children in Britain during WW2 (evacuation, living through the Blitz, meeting the Yanks for the first time...) and at the moment there's a special exhibition on POWs showing the reality behind the stories in the movies of the River Kwai, the Great Escape and Coditz etc. We got to crawl through an escape tunnel, dodge the searchlights, get disguised in civvy clothes and get our passes stamped. Unfortunately my French wasn't good enough to get us to the border! I've been to the main museum in London a few times but this was the first time at the local one, even though it's only 15 minutes from home! If you're in Manchester it's well worth the visit, with two shopping malls and Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United within a couple of minutes drive from the museum for those not into that sort of stuff. And if you are coming to Manchester give me a shout. Edit: forgot to add a link to the museum's website. http://north.iwm.org.uk/
  19. What do you listen to drive?

BBC Radio 2 in the morning - you can't beat a bit of Sir Terry Wogan, and besides I've been listening to him since my dad drove me to school over 30 years ago! On the way home from work it's usually BBC Radio 4 to catch up on the news. On a long drive when I get to listen to a CD it's whatever I've got in the car - anything from Fleetwood Mac to Lilly Allen, via the Stones, Beatles, an audio book or the HSM3 soundtrack if my daughter's with me! When I used to have a tape player back in the day I'd make mix tapes (as I'm sure loads of you guys did too) of driving music, usually including lots of tracks from the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack!
  20. Happy birthday to MJ...

    Many happy returns guys.
  21. Impressive video...

Looks like it's called fighter Pilot: Operation Red Flag http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...ilot+operation+
  22. If you're in the fly-by view watching a plane in flight then you see the plane in the distance, it gets closer then fly's away into the distance again. Now, if the plane you're looking at is on the airfield then it won't be moving, so it won't get closer, and the game will just show you that plane at a distance. If there are other planes in the foreground (like those F-111s) then that will confuse you as what you're supposed to be looking at. Hope that makes sense!
  23. Pretty much everything except for a terrain and skins are available for TK to do a modern Korea scenario (say 1970s or 80s). As well as land based US and South Korean F-4s, F-15s, F-16s and A-10s, you could have carrier ops like WOV, with maybe the F-14 and E-2C joining the A-6 and A-7 that already exist (with the Intruder being ugraded to an A-6E) and the MiG-29 and Su-25 joining the bad guys as new aircraft this time around, not to mention Chinese versions of the MiG-17 and MiG-21.
  24. I'm really going to have to update the Israeli Air Force thread now!
  25. Birthday's Galore

    Many happy returns guys!
