Some pics from my Wings Over Afghanistan install Busy day on the flightline Heading out for the night shift A NATO convoy comes under attack Luckily the Harriers were on hand to assist More to come. This is my favorite install at the moment but I'm not getting any air to air action at the moment. Does the map allow for an Iranian air base to be placed in a future upgrade? -

The glorious Soviet liberation of North America as depicted in the documentary film 'Red Dawn' was entirely successful, and life soon returned to some semblance of normality. Here we see Commissars Francis ("Frank") "Ponch" Poncherello and Jonathan "Jon" Baker on patrol over the Soviet Republic of California, ever vigilant for the enemies of the people. -

Looks like the British are sending 4 Apaches too. Wasn't Prince Harry supposed to be training on these? Well he did say he wanted to see more action after being forced to come home early from Afghanistan.

That's why there's no body. They just beamed up OBL and he's really being held on that prison planet from the Star Trek movie with David Bowie's wife!

You need to register for the downloads and also seperately for the forums. Once you've downloaded them there's plenty in the Knowledgebase about converting the planes for SF2 and 99.9% of SF1 stuff can be used in SF2 in any case:- http://combatace.com/topic/44026-converting-older-planes-to-work-in-sf2-a-basic-guide-by-migbuster/ -

I don't know where my music packs have gone. Maybe they were lost when the mods database was reorganised? I'll re-upload them in the next few days. Are the .wavs still called the same names in gen2 games? If so I'll re-upload to the SF2 mods section. -

Modern/WW2 Carrier Air Group
allenjb42 replied to allenjb42's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I've seen the movie many times and have both the DVD and novel, so know the Nimitz air wing in the movie was the 'Classic' F-14/A-6/A-7 mix, with EA-6B, E-2C and SH-3 in support. Don't they launch an RF-8 too? I just saw the decal sheet on the latest Hannants newsletter and thought it might give some inspiration to our what-if skinners. But what if they had a protoype F/A-18 aboard for testing and evaluation. And the technical expertise and data held aboard a carrier that went back to WW2 might be enough to enable some sort of facsimile to be manufactured in 1940's factories, leapfrogging the generations from P-80/F-86/F-4 etc. I know it's fanciful but John Birmingham explored a similar scenario in his Axis of Time trilogy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Birmingham#Axis_of_Time_Trilogy -
Many happy returns Yuri Sorry I'm late for the party!

North Cape Terrain
allenjb42 replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Thanks for the reply mate. It looks like my WOE install was at fault rather than the terrain. I had created my Wings Over Scandinavia install by copying over my Wings Over Ukraine install(Russia vs Ukraine with Turkey on the sidelines based on Pfunk's Black Sea terrain), renamed it Wings Over Scandinavia, and then started populating it with the appropriate planes and ground objects etc. and took out my Ukranian and Turkish stuff. So as an experiment I put North Cape into the Ukraine install and got the same problem. So then I tried North Cape in my NATO Fighters install and it was fine Next I did a fresh WOE install, installed North Cape and that worked fine, so I copied my theatre specific stuff from Scandanavia and deleted that install leaving a new Wings Over Scandinavia install and all is good. Phew! Just out of interest, does anyone rmember DiDs EF-2000? The controllers had Norweigan accents IIRC. I wonder if the sound files could be used in SF? -
North Cape Terrain
allenjb42 replied to Baltika's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Awesome terrain Baltika! It's become the centrepiece of a Wings Over Scandinavia install. Finally I can use all those planes & skins for Finland, Norway & Sweden downloaded over the years, with help from the RAF (Harrier, Jag & Tornado in Arctic skins) and USMC, vs the might of the Soviet war machine! Hopefully if/when this gets converted to SF2 could this be NATO Fighters 5: The Northern Flank? One issue I've seen is that when I generate an anti ship mission for the blue side the target is somewhere off the bottom left corner of the map and if you try to fly the mission you hit the Wall. Red anti ship missions seem to be fine. Thanks again for a great terrain. -
