  1. How did YOU end up here at combatace?

I remember seeing a demo video for SFG and bought it on the strength of that alone. Found SimHQ, stayed a while, and then joined The Great Exodus here to the promised land. I still look in on the Thirdwire forum but it's not the same. BTW - Just downloaded the ODS (Only Dave's Sycophants?) mod and am lovin' it!
  2. England shuts down

    Lol...but where's the Tower?
  3. About films and productions

Top Gun and BoB. But I love them all! Except Skyfighters, which I had to Google. Looks good but is it available on Region 2 DVD?
  4. England shuts down

It's snowing on and off here in Bury/Manchester. Nothing too bad though. Having said that, when I got into work we found that the boiler had broken so we're going to close early And the boss forked out for fish and chips for everyone for lunch too Also, when I dropped my daughter off at school this morning the kids were having the mother of all snowball fights in the playground!
  5. Welcome back to Thirdwire, and to WOI. This thread should help you: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=19806
  6. Instead of Dhimar being supported by the US, how about if it was a former British or French colony, and their forces were the ones called in to the fray. For the Brits you could have Invincible with Harriers and Sea Harriers, and maybe RAF Jaguars in Desert Pink, while Dhimar flys Hunters, maybe upgrading to Hawks and possibly Tornados (the Saudi skin could be the base for a Dhimari one). If it was a former French colony you could have a carrier with Crusaders and Super Etendards, land based Mirage IIIs and F1s in desert camo, and Dhimar could have Super Mysteres and Mirage IIIs, and maybe some Alphajets. Another idea - would it be possible to make Paran friendly and Dhimar the enemy, equiping them accordingly? Then you could get a new perpective out of the map.
  7. I'm putting together a 'WOEMAC' install based around the excellent Black Sea terrain. The main contenders will be Russia vs Ukraine, and I'll add in Turkey and maybe some other NATO stuff later once it's up and running. I fly mostly single game generated missions, so as Russia and Ukraine use a lot of the same planes I'll be making nation specific Ukrainian versions of the planes and a selection of weapons. Do I need to do the same with ground objects (tanks, trucks ZSU-23-4 etc) and for SAM missiles too? I don't want the Russian planes facing US tanks and AAA. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  8. Thought so. Thanks for the assistance guys. p.s. Kevin, don't forget to place a ZSU-23-4 outside the prison at Kermanshah, Iran, to throw a spanner in the works of Operation Warlord
  9. Lol! Wouldn't mind having a go at El Al for WOI though...

  11. It looks like it's been done already and will be included in the Wings Over Timor campaign. Check out the thread at Capun's site in the WIP forum.
  12. Just downloaded. It's Libya, not Lebanon.

  14. The Person Below Me

False! United all the way mate (Manchester that is)! The person below me also can't wait until the tax return filing deadline of 31st January gets here so they can then get some sleep!
  15. Looks good. Maybe we could have a book thread or section in the Pub? Fiction and non-fiction sections where we can post reviews and/or links to books that we have read or want to read. What about it moderators?
  16. Kevin, that opens up a LOT of possibilities... Clint in the Firefox of course, but the you could also have George Peppard in a Fokker DR1, Michael Caine in a Spitfire, John Wayne in a P-40, or even Frank Sinatra in a P-38 to name just a few. Oh and all those cold war SAC movies you like so much too.
  17. You could always download the New Nations pack which would give you all the stock countries and a whole lot more besides... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=1630
  18. File Name: IAI-201 skin textureset pack File Submitter: allenjb42 File Submitted: 10 Jan 2009 File Category: Multi Engined Bombers, Transports, Light Attack and Trainers This is a set of textureset.ini files for the Israeli, Mexican and Venezuelan skins for the Dev A-team's IAI-201 Arava uploaded by Fire Fox. You need these to get the skins to appear on your aircraft ingame! Installation: 1) Download and install the Arava from the Dev A-team's site. http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/ 2) Download and install the three skins noted above to your Objects/Aircraft/IAI-201 folder http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8012 http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8013 http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=8014 3) Extract this mod to your Objects/Aircraft folder and let it overwrite when prompted. Your skin folders will now include the necessary files and you can choose them when you load up the game and go to the hangar screen. Thanks to TK for the game, Capun and the A Tream for the plane, and Fire Fox for the skins. Have fun, and good hunting! 20. I've brought this over from SimHQ as it seems to be the new hub of the SF community. I'll be updating this thread only but if you do want to see the posts in the SimHQ thread it's here: http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?...e=0&fpart=1 I've put together a list of where we are up to with aircraft used by the Israeli Air Force and IAF skins. My sources for the list were the IAF website and numerous books from my personal library, notably Bill Gunston's excellent Illustrated Guide to the Israeli Air Force (Salamander 1982) and Bill Norton's essential Air War On The Edge (Midland 2004). Here's the list. Sorry about the spacing - I copied an excel spreadsheet. I'll try to keep it updated as and when new aircraft, skins and other IDF\AF related mods appear. Please feel free to post your IAF related pics or comments. List updated 25 March 2008: Aircraft Name Aircraft Available for SF\WOV? Israeli Skins Available? 21. Stay safe Mannie...

With his permission, I'd like to share some of Mannie's pm's from the last few days: Last 10 days since the starting of the operation, Hamas are launching rockets at all directions, trying to hit as much as they can. they have also started to use the more powerful and longer range Grad rockets. On these days (and nights), sirens sounded in town got us (me,my wife and the kids) running into the MAMAD. (in house shelter.) Explosions, some far and some a little closer didn't hit anything significant here in Yavne but never the less made us feel bad just thinking that those b******s can actually get us. I just came back from my father in Ashdod and saw the building that was hit by a Grad rocket three days ago. just two blocks away from where my dad lives. Well at least he's playing it cool. BTW, tomorrow its his 77th birthday So, no politics, no discussion of the whys or wherefores of this ongoing conflict. Just a simple wish and prayer that our member and friend Mannie and his family get through it in one piece.
  22. Great stuff mate! I'll update the list when I get home tonight. I did notice, though, that the skin folders don't include textureset.ini files which are needed to get them working ingame. If you want me to put them together and either send them to you or upload them myself please let me know.
  23. Yes, those are the names that Capun has used. Looking forward to whatever textures you bring us, whether Israeli or not.
