  7. A-6E SWIP

    Added some updates and skins.
  8. There's a Fw-190D-9 on Pasko's list on his site. Don't know if he's actually doing anything though as he's not put anything out for a while.
  9. THESE SCREENS ARE FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTALLS OF WINGS OVER EUROPE ONLY AND WILL NOT WORK CORRECTLY WITH SF OR WOV. Noted. So how do I get these to work with SFG, as that's what I'm using for my Mid East install? Thanks
  10. It's not in the campaign for me. Just random single missions. I think that VA-85 and 185 need a numbers list in the skin folder if the game defaults to the 300 series for the stock USNATTACKNUM
  11. Some carriers had 2 A-6 squadrons so the modex numbers did vary, like these in 1991: Midway (CVW5) - VA115 (NF400 series), VA185 (NF500 series) Ranger (CVW2) - VA145 (NE500 series), VA-155 (NE400 series) Theodore Roosevelt (CVW8) - VA36 (AJ530 series), VA-65 (AJ500 series) So for Sid's skins VA-36 has 500 series, should be 530 series VA-75 has 500 series, correct VA-85 has 300 series, should be 500 series VA-115 has 500 series, should be 400 series VA-155 has 500 series, should be 400 series VA-185 has 300 series, should be 500 series Should this merely be a matter of correcting the numbers list in each skin folder?
  12. No! He cannot be here for that......
  13. Is anyone interested in making a TRIMS pod so that we can convert the A-6A to an A-6C? Thanks Allen
  14. I've been looking but not found anything yet.
  15. I think that was for a multiplayer setup so that everyone would have a common install to play Desert Storm multiplayer flights. There is a Desert Storm campaign in the works though.
  16. Also, let's not forget that that the proposed A-6F and A-6G models would have given the Intruder extra wing stations for carrying Sidewinders outboard, thereby freeing up the existing stations purely for fuel/A2G weapons, and they would have gotten a new radar with the capability for using AIM-120 - which is a whole other debate! I personally don't think that adding Sidewinders to the A-6 is 'play{ing} fast and loose with things such as loadouts and tactics.' On the contrary it's just adding a capability to the in game plane that was there on the real thing. There have been posts on the thread supporting that, and I think everyone agrees that it could carry them and squadrons at least practiced with them even if it wasn't all that common to carry them operationally. Whether individuals take the option of including those missiles when they go for a flight is up to them. I won't be including Sidewinders on the loadouts or giving the plane any air to air roles, but I just felt that the option should be there if anyone wants it. As an aside, the stock A-6A in WOV has IRM included on the weapons stations right out of the box. As another aside, and this may well be my memory playing tricks, but I'm sure I remember reading an article in a magazine several years ago about a carrier airwing (may have been a Pacific Fleet carrier) where the fighters were grounded for some technical reason (suggesting it was a Midway class because surely if the carrier had both F-14s and 18s both fleets wouldn't be grounded at the same time would they?), and the A-6s had to stand alert and even flew some intercepts on probing Bears or Badgers - I would assume that they would have carried AIM-9s then - there may have been pics in the article.
  17. Well it's got to be the most interesting debate I've seen on the boards for a while, and it's great to get the input from the guys who have experienced the real deal. I'm waiting on permission to include some skins in the package, and then I'll upload the modded A-6E SWIP and USMC, hopefully this weekend, with the other versions soon after. Will I give it Sidewinder capability? You'll just have to download it and see!
  18. Damn Dave, you're giving my wife all the ammo she needs to get me to ebay my aviation library! I suppose this entry in World Sir Power Journal US Navy & Marine Corps Air Power Directory (1992) isn't worth the paper it's written on? Check out the first entry in the anti ship loadouts. But wait! I found this in WAPJ volume 18 (Autumn/Fall 1994) - An A-6E at Red Flag carrying a Sidewinder training round The game is still on!
  19. I have some info, admittedly from a book rather than from anecdotal evidence from a participant that during the Libya confrontation in 1986 A-6Es carried Harpoons inboard and sidewinders outboard to take out Libyan missile boats. Lou Drendel's A-6 Intruder book has an illustration of this loadout, and Wrench used it as the Loading screen for the A-6E SWIP. Also, some A-6Es carried Shrikes outboard and Mk7s on MERs inboard, but I'm not sure if this was for SAM suppression or for anti-ship work too, as they hit some of the missile boats with Harpoons and some with CBUs
  20. My new son...

Congratulations to you and yours. Welcome to the world Jaydon.
  21. Blimey, talk about opening a can of worms! The A-6 had a nuclear strike mission so there's no reason why the SF versions shouldn't have that capability. Case closed. Similarly, if the real life units trained with AIM-9s and, as noted above actually deployed with them, then why not have them on the SF aircraft? This is supposed to be a simulation after all, and you're always free not to select those weapons in the loadout screen. I'm all for realism, and really got hot under the collar over the mods to fit out the early F-4s with an internal gun a while ago because of some 'mistake' by the aircraft's makers (whether that was McDonnell Douglas or Thirdwire I don't think we ever got to the bottom of!). However, in this case the A-6 was cleared for and flew with Sidewinders so I see no reason not to have them as a loadout option. As for the lack of a Sidewinder rail, I do see that as a problem and it would probably make me less likely to load these in game, but others may feel differently and don't mind that. Having said all this, I totally agree that some aircraft have defined roles, and I certainly won't be giving the A-6s any air to air roles, but you never know when a 'winder comes in handy - I bagged a Parani MiG 21 last night coming off target in a test mission! So my plan for now is to update the A-6E SWIP and the A-6E USMC to include nuclear weapons and AM-9s, and then to mod Monty CZ's A-6A to an A-6B and also to an early A-6E (prior to the TRAM turrent being fitted) and maybe do a USMC version of that too.
