  1. Heres hoping it's called Ark Royal

Kinda wish they'd gone with Ark Royal and Eagle myself, QE and POW belong to battle cruisers that and it just isnt right not having a flat-top called Ark Royal. Craig
  2. Been waiting on them getting a western naval bird involved for years... pretty much since the original Lomac release actually... Would rather they' done the Tomcat but I'll take a Bug Craig
  3. Axanar

Any trek fans out there mightt want to have a look at this: http://www.startrekaxanar.com/ 20 min preview/intro for an indie Trek film with a kickstarter... don't usually have much time for indi trek ala youtube but these guys really look like they know what their doing, many have worked on the various Paramount projects and the JJ series, both in a production and acting capacity. Wont give too much away about the content of the teaser but its worth a watch if you have 20 minutes to burn. Craig
  4. PLAAF jet buzzes Navy aircraft

If the article is acurate he barrel rolled around the P-8 at a distance of 45 feet... before I read it I figured it was going to be a load of bull seing as wester fighters have been doing the same thing to Soviet/Russian MPA/SIGINT birds for the best part of 70 years but this guy was stupidly close. Craig
  5. Tornado F3 For SF2

Not quite, they were operational fleet wide on the F.3 for years Craig
  6. Enough dreaming. Time to fly for real...

Sounds like a pretty decent deal, good luck Craig
  7. Looks good enough for me Just after flying the existing FRS.1 for about an hour or so until the game crashed on my way back to the ship The model above may have issues as you say but its still lokos a not so insignifficant improvement over what is currently available... I say release it if it still exists... please... Craig
  8. Really want a pre war skin for the FRS.1 myself, Russo has/had something he was working on but as far as I'm aware it hasn't been released. As for twin rails I'm pretty sure they were developed in response to the Falklands experience rather than as an original capability: http://www.aeroflight.co.uk/aircraft/types/british-aerospace-sea-harrier.htm Craig
  9. Badly I'm guessing, the Russiand had two nicknames for it that I'm aware of, "Pigeon of Peace".. and "Foremast Defence Fighter"... its ok for intercepting a close MPA bird anything more than that is suicide. I suppose you could launch them and place the CAP in such a manner as to attempt to dictate the aproach path of an inbound strike then focus your SAM's into that corridor however going toe to toe against Tomcats and Hornets would be a lost cause. Craig
  10. Its possible, can't quite remember how its done though and I'm away from my game rig so can't check. There are a couple of mods of the US LHA's and the Kiev that do precisely that, bear in mind though that the AI dosn't do VTOL so the "no cat spot" wlil be player only. Craig
  11. Spicy Burger

    I want one.... Craig
  12. Thought that might be it, doing my first f-14 campign in over a year and its been going rather well since i picked up the russian fleet on my rwr Craig
  13. Was wondering a few things about this myself, does intel count if its the player that spots the fleet? Craig
  14. I'd fly it Would go well alongside the Avro Arrows we already have. Craig
  15. Are those deffinitely 22klb grand slams an not 12klb tallboys? B-29's were adapted for both but 2 grand slams at once is pushing the limits of the airframe a tad far. Craig
  16. Granted there will be a reduction in G lmits, however thats already been hamppered by the CFT's, a Bug in either configuration isn't exactly going to be a hot-rod. Craig
  17. Size is near irrelevant, its the shape and materials that count. As MAKO has already pointed out theres nothing to stop you designing a stealthy pylon to go with the pod, With regard to interference drag affecting the balistics of stores release on a Hornet, given that the weapon is now being deployed from a pod the equation has changed so a 4* cant may not nesissarily be required... working that out is going to take more time and effort than I can be bothered with though. As an aside Dassault have developed a "pod" for tip mounted IRM's... Craig
  18. It still isn't conformal. There is no reason at all these could not be mounted under the wings, that it hasn't been done mearly indicates that noone has felt the need to. If you take a look at a Hornet carrying a tank on the centre line you'll noice the pylon is about the same size as that holding the pod, far smaller than that which mounts the wing tanks reason being gear compression on landing, ie bugger all to do with RCS reduction.
  19. Looks an awful lot like a pylon to me: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aYCbsSRXY1E/Uh69o5T2LEI/AAAAAAAARXU/8rI4lv4uPno/s1600/F-18F+Super+Hornet+with+enclosed+weapons+pod.jpg Craig
  20. Can't imagine there'd be too much trouble mounting the pods on the wings, from a drag point of view they cant be much worse than a Storm Shaddow. Also worth bearing in mind that if you're mounting these pods you wont be mounting anything else, so I'd imagine it would still be slicker than a standard external stores configuration. Craig
  21. I used to have a really old flight international with artwork from a real world Douglas attempt to market the A-4 to the Netherlands over the F-5, think it was an Air Force only proposal. Wouldn't mind seeing the Navy version though, guess it would make sense had they not sold the Karel Doorman to Argentina. Craig
  22. Redtops, how do they work?

When you arm the Firestreak/Redtop an A symbol will apear to the lower left of the sight, you will need a radar lock as well, once within parameters a square will apear to the lower right of the sight. I recomend being almost dead 6 of the target at around 1.5 to 2 miles. They dont handle maneuvering targets well so I'd advise using only against bombers, they also have fairly short range so the faster the target is the closer you want to be, Frequently they will go low initially before climbing to intercept, lastly one hit seems sufficient to bring down just about anything. Craig
  23. вы должны думать в России Looking forward to it. Craig
