  1. In memory and thanks...

    S!
  2. Life - What Makes You Happy?

On cold dark and stormy nights simply having a roof is enough. Like Mike above I graduated (Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering) some time ago and have been unable to find work, seems that every position I apply for I'm up against 50 or 60 guys that have 20 years field experience so noone realy takes a serious look at me... I was also made redundant from a retail position with a company I'd worked with since highschool shortly after christmas, then proceded to break my wrist putting an end to my naval application for the time being, theres always next year.. Thankfuly I have enough get buy and have a job lined up starting next month which should pay enough for me to finally move out into my own place. Then theres my girlfriend of 2 years
  3. Hope I dont sound like a riveter but in addition to the removal of the hook the C's undercarrage is nowhere near as substantial as the M's. Looking forward to this one Also Blackbird, I'm not aware of the Charles De Gaulle being available however the Foch/Clemenceau is available, unfortunatly I can't remember where I picked her up :( Craig
  4. Give the Uterus a Rest

Sounds like my maths teacher while I was doing my last two years of highschool, 5th year she goes off after 2 months to be replaced by a tech teacher (go figure), 6th year she shows up in time for the finals replacing a substitute that actually had a maths degree... think she had about 9 kids by the time I left. Craig
  5. If your looking for people theres a guy down on the Spanish boards thats come up with something, had a quick look and don't see it at the moment however I'm fairly certain it was one of the following guys: AleDucat Suicidal Torno Craig ps found it: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...39369&st=20 probably not what you had in mind lol... forgot it was bkini clad women. Though perhaps he would be willing to work on it with you.
  6. Lockerbie bomber most likely getting out

Not Scotland... I certainly dont remember being asked! As to the reports of 6/10 of the UK popullation believing he is inocent, I've yet to speak to one person that thinks he should have been released. Some retartd at the top decided to relese him not the Scottish people. Yes there may well have been "issues" with the trial however if that was the reason behind his release why the hell did it take 10 years and a failed apeal. Also Saywhat, sadly the term "Life" in the UK means nothing of the sort. There have been cases of convicted murderers being back on the street within 4 years thanks to "first offence", "good behaviour" or overcrowding. The whole system is bursting at the seams and the gov. is to tight fisted/retarded to build more prisons. Craig
  7. Lockerbie bomber most likely getting out

Like I said earlier I'm not even slightly suprised, and the whole things a joke lets face it he wouldn't have been the first convict to die in prison. To hell with his rights. Craig
  8. Lockerbie bomber most likely getting out

I live about 5 miles from where they keep that piece of s*** and I'm not in the least bit suprised he's getting out, nor as I imagine most Brits on here... kinda like the 269 other disease idea, hanging would be too good for him, unfortunatly thats no longer an option either... Craig
  9. Les Paul Dies @94

Rock in Peace Got two of his babys at the moment and plan on grabbing a third in october. Craig
  10. Funny Passport Application

Sounds familiar... Just had mine renewed a couple of weeks ago for the tune of £97.00... (around $160 US) what this is spent on is truely beyond me, a 6'x4' piece of leather like paper... 30 odd blank pages and one laminated page with my details on it... I had to make an appointment to see them in person, have 2 photos, one signed by a guy I havnt seen since I was 4. All so I could get the dam thing in one week. Ohh yeah, and on the day after having filled out the forms and quadrouple checked thier checklist they asked me for something that wasnt on it... you guessed it proof of address... Why the f*** would I arange for a pasport with my name and face on it to be delivered to someone else after spending over £100 on photos, transport, postage and "administrative fee's? When I produce a lettter from the RAF that just happened to be in the folder the complain that its dated last year and its unacceptable... WTF !!! Like I said earlier this was for a renewal, I had the last one they issued when I was 15 with me, so theyve already been provided with proof of ID issued by themselves yet they still question who I am.... morons.... Rant over lol Craig
  11. Now F-35 is in a bit of trouble

I agree, the F-35 in the B model will be a quantum leap over the Harrier however the Harrier is far from perfect. The only reason the Navy ever had them was that the large carriers were withdrawn and replaced with the Invincibles which were incapable of operating anything else, it was a case of Harrier or nothing. Theres a pretty good comparison done in Phoenix Squadron between what the Ark Royal and her Bucaneers did and what would have been different if it was up to an Invincible and Harriers, page 345 if you have a copy. The jist of it is that the Ark Royal herself having greater speed and fuel capacity and thus endurance than the Invicible combined with the fact that the Buccaneer had approximatly twice the range of the Sea Harrier would have meant that an Invincible would have to continue on for two days beyond the point at which the Ark launched her strike. Bearing in mind that the Buccs were refueled twice on this mission and the Sea Harriers would have to do it all with internal and tanks that gives the Bucc the potential to fly six times further than the Shar. If some form of buddy system can be deveoped for the 35B then its worth looking into though personally I'd far rather see the FAA go with the 35C and a couple of flights worth of S-3's from the bonyard since many still had over half their fatigue life ramaining when they were retired. Craig
  12. Now F-35 is in a bit of trouble

The idea behind the CVF's was to get a design that could operate either STOVL or CTOL aircraft, in the case of the STOVL option the ship still retains the ability to have the steam plants, cats and arrestor gear retrofitted. Why the FAA/RAF/MOD are pinning on STOVL is beyond me. The most expensive, most complex, least capable, slowest, heaviest model when the RAF has no requirment for a STOVL aircraft and the Navy is getting carriers that are more than capable of operating CTOL designs... Apparently a STOVL approach to naval aviation can produce higher sortie rates (less time between launches and recovery) however the STOVL design will always be more mechanically complex and as a result spend more time below decks, and what the hell does it matter if you can launch 25% faster if the jets dont have the range or payload to take out the target, resulting in the ship needing to be closer to shore and thus at greater risk. Finally as I'm sure your all aware a CTOL ship allows for fixed wing AEW which is vastly superior to rotory winged AEW in every respect and also alows for the use of COD types. trust the politico's to bugger things up... Poly= many tics = tiny blood sucking creatures Craig - fingers are crossed for the F-35C but I'm fairly sure we'll see the "BAC (bacon) - F-42: Flying swine" in the fleet first....
  13. It pays be be a pilot....

Some of us are qualified on both sides of the pilot/mech fence however Craig - qualified to break it, but able to fix it afterwards.....
  14. Bae Hawk T1a cockpit

FAA hawks have them as well, seems to me that its in a prime location to obstruct the gunsite. Craig
  15. heavy bricks

Theres a joke somewhere about building a runway that goes all the way round the world and Republic designing a plane to use it all... Craig
  16. RIP F-22

As much as I think the 22 may be overkill, very impressive but overkill nontheless, Ihave to wonder if anyone in DC stopped to think that the F-15's wont last forever with the Youngest F-15C pushing 30? 187 airframes, how many are going to be lost in accidents and how many are going to be reserved for conversion training? Then theres the fact that with only 187 they WILL go through their airframelife much faster due to the fact that they are so limited in number and the crews still require flight time in peacetime, theyre going to wear out faster than intended and the 15's will be past it. 35's can't really hold the fort since theyre taking over from the 16's, so whats left? Craig
  17. Gun data for Typhoon?

re. the singe engine over water, I know two are preferable however it worked for the A-4, F-8, A-7 and Harriers The excuse for the deletion of the gun in the Typhoon however was laughable, noone was buying it and it made the clowns look like morons (as per) why they didnt just admit to being penny pinchers I don't know, everyone knows they are and at least we'd believe them for a change. Craig
  18. Penguins...

    nuff said lol Craig
  19. Last of the Air Defence Sea Harriers

If I remember corectly the RN SHAR's offered to the Indians were not to be of the standard operated by the RN, they were to have the radars and various other components removed and when the Indians became aware of this they lost interest. Craig
  20. A Most Ignominious Death!

Whilst bringin an A-4 back aboard after tearing up an airfield I ran outa gas about 500 feet shy of the boat. I noticed I was loosing airspeed and sinking fast, didnt notice my engine was dead until I was about 20 feet of the water and didnt have time to eject... I could read the bloody ships name I was so close! Craig
  21. cool, didnt realise the Yorktown class were modled Craig

  24.
