Radar Control
fallenphoenix1986 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I had a thought last night however I've no idea how to implement it or if its even possible, is there any way to go about slewing the targeting cursor on the radar display manually? I ask as having flown ODS for the last few days I've come to find that finding a Mig in a Sea of Coalition aircraft is easier said than done if you were able to u go directly to make an educated guess at where the migs are likely to be it would make targeting far more efficient. Radar Control
fallenphoenix1986 replied to fallenphoenix1986's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Thanks but not what I had in mind, I know how to use the radar and weapons as they are. What I'm talking about is allowing manual control of the cursor on the display, ie. move left then down by comand rather than "Home" skip to next target. What I'm sugesting would be more akin to the radar control options in Lomac. Craig -

in the aircraft data.ini scroll down to weapon stations and add RKT to the allowed weapon class line on the stations you want to use. Craig -
Long story short justice in the UK puts criminals "civil rights" ahead of justice and the rights of the victim. They all addmitted the attack so the very least that should be done is to put them 24/7 in a young offenders institution untill they reach 18. In an ideal world, all of them being fully aware of what they were doing their age really should not be relevent to the length of sentance, smply keep them segregatted from the adult prison population unti they reach 18 and then throw them to the lions. In another case a few years back, one of my mates was jumped outside a pub by 3 guys and he put 2 of them in hospital... he was at the time an active duty Marine... The incident was caught on camera and yet he having clearly deffended himself from the 3 neds was charged with assault, discharged and sentenced to two years. So from this we can take that the appropriate responce when assaulted with a knife is to accept your going to be stabbed and posssibly killed, heaven forbid you break your attackers arm and escape uninjured! With regard to the Cats attack capabilities, the D model could carry more, further and faster than the Bug. This is a capability that was built into the airframe from day one and just not implemented until the twighlight of her career, there would have been an argument to use the Cat as an A-6 replacement leaving the Bug to do what it was designed for... light strike and second tier air defence. ODS
fallenphoenix1986 replied to Viper6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Odd, I' having te opposite problem... like I said earlier theres two many bloody eagles lol. One of my wingies is actually doing better than me, the git has 7 kills by mission 4 and I've only got 5... all BVR as I've yet to see a Mig thanks to those *&%$&* Eagles lol. Come to think of it I think I've only had to order them to engage twice. Though I've yet to loose anybody even after having around 40 SAMs fired at us so far. So congrats guys youve faithfully recreated the experience of being a Tomcat driver in the Gulf lol :tomato2: Craig, a seriously under achieving Cat driver.. still enjoying the show though :) -
can't find the canopy animation key
fallenphoenix1986 replied to squid's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
its usually set to an animation key (shift 1 through 10) though the model has to have the canopy listed as a component system and also has to have a canopy section eg: SystemName[003]=Canopy (generally under nose or fuselage sections of the data.ini) [Canopy] (generally found in the crew section) SystemType=ANIMATION InputName=ANIMATION_10 DeploymentMethod=MANUAL AnimationTime=6.0 AnimationID=10 CanopyAnimationID=10 Craig *animation ID's are case specific to each model -
DS Mod Goodies
fallenphoenix1986 replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
First off this thing rocks, went and bought WoE specifically for this mod. So I've been flying F-14's with VF-84 and having a blast, even if its maybey a bit too realistic.... we launch and theres a sky full of F-15's to take out the Migs before we get to the fight... just like in real life lol. I was on my 4th mission before I got a kill. On the subject of kills with the Cat I've not been having any luck with the Phoenix, it just dosnt wanna work so I upped the performance a bit... gotta have some way of swatting the Migs before those pesky Eagles get all the glory... AGAIN!!! lol Craig ps. Tomcat fan since age 4 :) -
Gloster Javelin
fallenphoenix1986 replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Another random Javelin fact that I'm pretty sure I read in airplane monhly a few years ago: if you want long range dont bother with the drop tanks, the addded drag and weight of the tanks resulted in shorter overall range/endurance. -
About to give up on this one
fallenphoenix1986 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I've been reworking Ludo's A-4T skin onto the A-4A model and all was going well until I started on the decals. Its been set in the Data.ini, Config.ini and texture set as "RoyalNavy", anywhere you would normaly set the nation it is set to RoyalNavy as seen in the Nations.ini: [Nation007] Name=RoyalNavy... on the loading menu it shows as royal navy fleet air arm, as it should. In the mission I'm using to test it the nations are set to RoyalNavy for my aircraft, flight and carrier... so why does this happen when load it: ARGHHHHH how can two aircraft with exactly the same loadout selections show with different insignia... neither of which those selected? I have checked to see if the decals were missing or corupted however they appear on Buff's Sea Hawks no problem... 3 days I've been fighting this and getting nowhere, its about the 20th nation specific bird I've done so I should know what I'm doin by now but this has me stumped. Whoever figures it out gets a virtual beer of their choice on me Craig -
Not yet, by the time I was told I'd passed the FAA medical stanadards (by an RAF medical examiner) it was to late to apply for the Navy so I have to wait till this spring and start over from scratch. However the only thing holding me back was my eyes. Accademics, fitness, apptitude and attitude were all fine, had it not been for a slight defficiency in one eye I'd be most of the way through Cranwell by now, fingers crossed can make the cut this time :) As you said there are fewer aplicants for the Navy, when I was at the AFCO for my P2 pressentation there were approximatly 20 applicants for the RAF of which around 11 were aiming for pilot, the Navy were conductiong their pressentation at the same time in a different room... to one person Craig

copied and pasted from the nations.ini to each file... gets even wierder in the single mission gennerator, it goe RAF,FAA,Luftwaffe,Armee Del Airee, Aeronavale,AMI,Canadian,Greek! nations ini: [Nation007] Name=RoyalNavy DisplayName=Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm texture set: [TextureSet] Name=FAA800SQN Nation=RoyalNavy Squadron= Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.750000 Reflection=0.000000 config.ini: [TextureSet001] Directory=FAA800SQN Name=FAA800SQN Squadron= Nation=RoyalNavy Specular=0.300000 Glossiness=0.750000 Reflection=0.000000 data.ini [MissionData] NationName=RoyalNavy ServiceStartYear=1956 ServiceEndYear=1965 AircraftRole=ATTACK AircraftCapability=DAY_ONLY Availability=COMMON Exported=TRUE ExportStartYear= ExportAvailability= PrimaryRoles=CAS,STRIKE,ANTI_SHIP SecondaryRoles=SEAD,ARMED_RECON,RECON,FAC NormalMissionRadius=536 MaxMissionRadius=885 Ceiling=16154.4 MinBaseSize=SMALL CarrierBased=TRUE thanks guys Craig -
Me either, makes no sense but it works for me lol. Or that the FAA will allow corective lenses when the RAF wont, either way you could end up flying the same aircraft (Harrier Gr.7/9... F-35B) doing the same mission (CAS/Strike) and all that changes is your uniform... go figure. Craig

Skyhawks Forever....
fallenphoenix1986 replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Theres a few more than the Buckeye, he's done the A-6, EA-6B and the F-2H Banshee, picked that one up tonight and highly recomend it if naval birds are your thing. Craig -
Kopis, if your 26 right now and still interested you have one shot at the Royal Navy. I failed the RAF aircrew medical last year but passed for the FAA... dont ask why their different as I honestly have no idea lol.. anyway unlike the RAF where the pilot cut off is 23 the navy accepts up to 26.
