Sorry, I really was not planning to post anything, but holy hell...I mean...holy hell.   So much misinformation here, makes my head spin.  For example, there are countless items from SF1/YAP ported to the new SF2 version as part of that scope  - does that mean now it's all ethical, moral and legal...LOL?  There are still plenty of concerns with content in this revamp project (not said lightly and supported by evidence).  The project leader is absolutely trying to do the right thing, but he's inherited a hodge podge of illegal and/or unauthorized assets that's still used for the SF2 version.  And there remains unethical modders that in my opinion stain the entire efforts undertaken.  The leader is caught in the crossfire between progress and doing it ethically; please don't make sweeping claims and facts on this topic as myself and many other veteran modders lived through this time then and now and know the real story – and this portrayal is not it.

Well, here we get into a fog... If you know which mods are "unethical" or something and can confirm this, point out which ones they are and I'm sure the team won't want to keep them.

If something like this was "inherited" and is being used, it is due to pure ignorance, and not due to bad intentions, therefore, I cannot call it "unethical", as there is no intention of cheating anyone, and no one there is nothing to profit from it.
I don't know what happened at the time, and if I had been one of those who suffered, I would have been pissed too.
But I think it's wrong to point the finger at someone who wasn't involved in this imbroglio, and just wants to do something nice for the SF2 community, with heart and good will, and also doesn't know what happened and wasn't even involved.

If these "stolen" mods are present in the current installation and this can be proven, it would be nice to point out which ones they are so that the situation can be resolved.

I'm absolutely sure they would do so willingly.

I would be nice to actually HEAR from the revamp mod group. Things that are, or were, payware at still very much a gray area to us Admins (and modder too!). I know it's something that we'll have to discuss at some point in the future.

Would one consider the SF1 version as abandonware?? Do we ignore it because it is/was payware??

I'd VERY much like to hear from one of the leaders of the Revamp Project.

From my understanding, Revamp is limited to SF2.
The proposal was precisely this: make it free, updated, with objects, etc. AUTHORIZED by the creators, made by fans who obtained permission to use the name YAP from John Shelton's widow.

The site with the original payware, made for SF1, is not part of this scope and I don't know who is responsible for it, but I know it's not YAP-RW.

YAP & rising sun are payware!

So go to the webside from YAP and purchse YAP & rising sun!

    Nobody will share payware here!

    Not anymore.
Now its free and is NOT related to the original creator´s, like Menrva said above.
I´m helped with some things in YAP_RW and can say that is totally free and completely correct from any possible point of view: ethical, moral, legal...
Is made from fans, to the fans, and I particularly see any creation that helps the SF2 community stay alive, welcome.

Only VA with A-6 in 1965 was 75 and 85.

at that time VA-65 was transferring from COMNAVAIRLANT to Pacific Fleet. VA-65 first deployment within COMNAVAIRPAC was from May 12, 1966, to December 3, 1966, as part of CVW-15 on Constellation.

    sorry, I have a serial/date/nose art fetish...

OK OK OK the new Intruder only come with a VA-65 skin and its a early Intruder, so i made the "wrong" connection.
    Thanks, Serial Frenzy :declare:

  5. Fly as a Wingman

This edit in the original file allows you to fly as if you were the wingman of the formation.
You continue to be the leader, and giving orders to the rest of the squad, but flying as the right wing, giving the radio command 1-8-6.
To return to the original formation, just perform the radio command 1-8-3.
I like it, because I like flying as a wingman and "inserting" myself into the maneuvers and following the "leader", giving more immersion to the flight.

You just need to be careful when flying with nations where the pilots have "poor skills", as during the maneuvers the "leader" can spread and collide with you.
In this case, before the "action begins", I suggest giving the command 1-8-1 so that he moves away so that a collision does not occur.

Don't forget to make a backup of your original file in case you want to revert!

happy to see that my Horn of Africa terrain is being used, it never got a review by users so I consider it the most overlooked of my terrain mods. If the terrain ever needs some additions or fixes, feel free to let me know and I'll work on it if RL gives me some breath.

I love all your terrains, and fly it constantly.
Keep doing the good work, is very appreciated.

Try using this as a template campaign for the Iceland02 terrain.  You will need to swap out some of the unit types, as some of those old mods I used are no longer available for one reason or another, or have been superseded by updated versions.

Operation: Polar Glory '99 v1.03 - User Made Campaigns - CombatACE

    Best of luck!

Works flawlessly with the Frontline data updated!!!

Here is the Campaign edited to works in Iceland02:

    Thanks again!

    Hi madvad,

Have you changed the [Frontline] settings in the campaign DATA.INI file to match the Iceland02 map? Those are right at the end of the DATA.INI file.

If you just used the same frontline settings from the stock Thirdwire Iceland map, then the campaign engine won't work properly on the Iceland02 map.

That's one explanation for the immediate loss you are seeing.

The frontline for a campaign has to be plotted using map co-ordinates for your campaign terrain, so that it runs from one side of the map to the other.

All of the friendly strategic nodes have to be on one side of the frontline, and all of the enemy strategic nodes have to be on the other side.

As ground units capture strategic nodes, the campaign engine will move the frontline dynamically.

You may need to play around with the number and position of plotted points on your frontline to get the campaign engine to work properly.

    I hope that helps.

Anyway, I'm glad to see you are enjoying my little Iceland terrain!  That takes me back a few years....

    Slainthe!

    Hello Baltika!
I wish, but I don´t have the numbers from these frontlines, and even know how to figure out.
So, this is problably the cause.
I was excited to play a Campaign in your map, I love it.
    Thx for your response :good:

  9. Can anyone help me with this campaign for ICELAND02 V2?
I took an existing Campaign for ICelandNA, edited all the bases to existing bases in ICELAND02, changed the strategic points too, to the same or similar locations on both maps, but when I go to start it, the aircraft/squadron I chose is run over and the game puts me in a random Hawkeye.

Before I changed all the bases, etc., effectively converting one terrain to another, just changing the terrain from one to another, the campaign started normally without any problems regarding the aircraft/squadron I chose, the only problem was that after a single mission the campaign ended. , saying that the strategic objectives had been achieved.

I've attached the files below, if anyone can test them and eventually help me, that would be cool.

If there is a campaign already made for ICELAND02 V2 and someone has it, I would also be grateful.

@madvad I don't think you really solved it. Now you're showing gerwin's TFD version of the stock IcelandNA terrain. The one of this topic is Baltika's Iceland terrain, which is an entirely different terrain, it is standalone and features a more complex tileset and a full scale size, unlike IcelandNA which is only 60% or so of real world scale. Gerwin's replaces the stock IcelandNA terrain, Baltika's must be installed in its own separate folder instead.

    You´re right.
It worked but I ended up getting confused with the screenshots.
Now yes (this map deserved an updated version with more definition in the tilesets, it's incredible):

Yeah, it's a stand alone terrain. Pretty sure it says that in the read me. You're gonna have to delete everything from the IcelandNA folder (if you have one), and start over. THIS one should already come with it's own folder, and if you look inside you'll find to funny files called "TFD" and "HFD", whcih the stock NA terrain does not use.

I'd re-read the install instructions again, you cause messed this up really bad!!! :haha:

    (sorry laughing!)

    :lol::lol::lol::lol: Thanks, I will check.
I mess up something, after years of installing mods and flying SF2, shit still happens!!!
