  1. Trackir 5

Thanks guys, that is very helpful
  2. Trackir 5

This is very interesting! I'm currently looking at TrackIR dithering about Trackir4 at @$100 or Trackir5 at @ $150 (+ $20 either way for the Track Clip Pro that attaches to a headset). From what you guys are saying the hardware for the Trackir4 and Trackir5 are basically identical and the big difference is the software. And the TrackIR web page states: LATEST SOFTWARE :: Version 5.0 - Final B (posted August 10, 2009) (.exe 6.7 MB) • Supports TrackIR 5, TrackIR 4:PRO • Note: TrackIR 3 with Vector support will be added in version 5.1 Am I missing something here? Why even had a model 5 if the software will update the model 4 hardware?
  3. Opps, should read FOR P4. Gotha IV PS The following is not a comment commonly encountered these days about aircraft, "The G.V was up to 450 kg (990 lb) heavier than the G.IV due to additional equipment and the use of insufficiently seasoned timber"
  4. Just realized that OFF was a continuing WIP - Great! Realizing that developers like to remain in the secret dark while doing their magic, still I'm wondering if there is any info available on where OFF might be going in the future?
  5. Cruising around reading posts and a thought occurred. Some folks discuss Flight Models as being more or less accurate. My question is, what is the source of peoples knowledge of what the accurate FMs are? Other than a few replica aircraft there are no WW1 ac flying, as far as I know. So since no ac are available, the FM data must come from some text source and anecdotes of pilots who flew these ac. I'd be very interested to know where this info is available.
  6. Direction of OFF Future

See I told ya, developers work underground in the dark of the night and deny everything.
  7. Source for FMs

Thanks for the insight. Your comments were very helpful. I seem to remember that one important issue with these planes was rigging - are all the wires set to the right tension, at any given moment. So day to day, and I would assume hour to hour, performance might be different because the shape of the aircraft could be subtly different.
  8. I must have missed it, but is there a list somewhere of the AI, i.e. non-flyable, aircraft in OFF?
  9. AI Aircraft

Thanks Lou, Appreciate the info Thanks Lou, Appreciate the info. That is exactly what I was needing to understand.
  10. AI Aircraft

Rude and Blasphemous in the same comment, and on a Sunday too. I have asked a perfectly reasonable question. If someone else would care to explain the apparent contradiction of Combat Ace offering Aircraft Models in their Download Section, which for other flight sims usually means original or tweaked aircraft, I would be interested. The down-loadable OFF aircraft offered seem like they might be AI/non-flyable intended for mission builders or MP activities. I would not care to hear from uncleal, who hopefully will get over himself soon.
  11. AI Aircraft

Thanks for the URLs. I'm just about to install OFF and they will be very useful. The aircraft DLs I was thinking are located at: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showcat=355 For example: "new orignal curtiss jenny conversion of mark rudes cfs3 conversion for use in off bhah by stumpjumper textures by capt winters and stumpjumper"
  12. AI Aircraft

Thanks for the fast reply. I used to fly RB3D back in the day and bought OFF a while ago. However, was so disgusted by my rotten flying I drifted off. Currently working with MSFS 2004 to actually learn a little about flying and want to get into OFF. Going to get OFF installed and probably crash a few harmless unoffensive WW1 ac just to get a feel for things. Had not realized that if you see it, you can fly it! The fighters are very well represented, but it seems to me that the variety of two-seaters is a bit thin. It is my impression that a major activity for fighters was beating up on two-seaters, therefore I would have expected a few such more types - as AI aircraft as it might not be a lot of fun flying some of the aircraft sent up to die. Just a thought as I have a looooonnnnng way to go. :) Hmm, so the Gotha(?), Jenny and Phoenix are new flyable aircraft from the download section?
  13. TrackIR5 or TrackIR4

Anyone want to help me out in understanding why I should spend $50 more for the TrackIR5? Advise would be appreciated.
  14. Have WOE and really like it and interested in WOV. However, now WOx 2 is out and the ThirdWire site doesn't seem to tell me much about the difference other than that v2 runs on vista. Are there other improvements/additions?
  15. Anyone want to help me out in understanding why I should spend $50 more for the TrackIR5? I suspect this will be getting a lot of use in WOx. Advice would be appreciated.
  16. Purchased BH&H a bit ago and finally have the time to set it up and launch in the the wild blue yonder. -errr, ops. * Installed CFS3 - checked and it plays * Downloaded the v3.1 patch * Run the 3.1 patch and get the message "Patch Error - Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match" So I am blocked from being able to install BH&H. I have no clue what is wrong. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  17. Curious. I have a set of the saitek pedals - very nice, would they work OK with the CH system? I'd assume yes, but one never knows. Thanks,
  18. A couple of months ago I read that there had been a recent dustup when it was discovered that during the Cold War, dates unrecalled or never known, the neutralist Swedish government had had very, very quiet understandings with NATO about joint military operations in the event of war. Things like a bit of joint planning and Swedish liaison officers to NATO headquarters. Not much made it into the English language press as far as I know, but had the MiGs hit the fan, there were plans in place for Swedish-NATO cooperation.
  19. Kind of silly and gamey to have this stuck in the corner when I have a radar display in the cockpit. Advise appreciated.
  20. Mission Accomplished. If anyone else stumbles across this post, here is the info: From: Initial Setup and Mod Guide and Editing Notes, By Chip and Charles - found under 'For those new to Third Wire' Universal Modifications and Utilities Download and install the SFP1E extractor utility. Occasionally, you will need to extract a file from what is known a .CAT file to effect a modification or kill a bug. It really takes more time to explain it than do it. Trust me. Optional: To remove the radar display in the upper right hand corner of the screen during flight when the HUD Display is set in Normal mode, Extract the HUDDATA.INI file from \Flight\FlightData.cat. Edit with Notepad the following section as given to change the Width= and Height= to 0. Personal preference for sure, but that radar in the sky really mucks up screen shots and video captures. Your eyes should be scanning for bandits anyway. Change this: [Display004] DisplayType=RADAR PosX=0.865 PosY=0.015 Width=0.125 Height=0.16666667 Alpha=0.60 InitTime=2.0 To this: [Display004] DisplayType=RADAR PosX=0.865 PosY=0.015 Width=0 Height=0 Alpha=0.60 InitTime=2.0 The utility you need is called SFP1E Extract Utility and is on page 5 of the Utilities/Mods directory under Downloads
  21. Thanks Wrench. I looked for about 15 minutes and didn't find anything before I asked - still getting used to the forum. Found an answer over in SimHQ and was just realizing I would need a tool to get in to make the change. Looks like you gave me the stuff I need to get in and 'fix' things. Thanks a lot Akmatov
  22. Thanks for the fast reply. Perhaps I should have also asked HOW? I'd like to do it.
