I killed more pilots on that one in the start - I understand that it tends to be a wee bit tricky to learn to fly it.

It Hasn't Been Six Months But I Just Have To Share This !

The angled things near the pilot's head are radiators. Not sure about the center thing on the top wing. -
OT What can you do on a Sunday

You have to admit, though, it is a very nice round and precise circle........ -

American Heritage "Dogfight" - still have it somewhere in the basement. -
Ahh. Now it all comes together in one simple explanation!

Wow! Great!

Please excuse my old age eyesight. I cannot seem to locate where I can download this from. I have gone thru all the pages several times, but the Download option seems to be hiding from me.

Times have certainly changed....when I was 3, having my own tricycle was big stuff.........

Hi all, This is not a complaint of any type, but a curiosity on my part. Having only flown the Fokker E.V, DH5, and N28 from HiTR so far, and not many times each, I was wondering if there were major noticeable differences between these machines and the older ones we are currently used to in OFF. (having learned the particular traits of them from our experiences) My experience so far - Fokker E.V - A pig to fly and bad visibility due the wing location. I am constantly stalling and can barely see or follow my targets even with Trackir. I get into one and feel like I am blindfolded and out of control for the most part. Haven't even hit any targets yet (can't keep the machine very stable or steady) and have either crashed or been shot down all flights. (True, I am not the best pilot - ) DH.5 - Surprisingly, from other comments I have heard, I have been able to put bullets into most everything I fire at, though, none of the enemy have been shot down. That view from the cockpit is indeed something that takes getting used to, but I seem to be able to follow and track targets without much trouble, just can't keep up with them. N28 - Sort of in the middle on this one. The view is limited and that makes it harder to see and follow targets, but I can put bullets into targets half the time. Not quite as difficult to handle as the E.V, and not as docile as the DH.5. These AI guys are still kicking my butt - although not quite as much as before - haha.

Along the lines of downloading.... Forgive me, I am slow. If one purchases HITR (which I will), and does not opt for the insurance thing, what happens if the download does not correctly come thru the first time? Do I understand correctly that you get 3 attempts? Also, if, later on down the way, one suffers some sort of PC issue (which invariably occurs), and must do a complete re-install of CFS and/or BHAH, will one be able to also re-install HITR as long as it is still on one's hard drive? Can I save the download onto a CD or USB drive for future use, just in case the undesirable occurs? Thanks

I love the first clip "Repairing a damaged machine".........I think I would have just hauled that one to the burn pile and lit a match............

Sweet! Love the music on the last half - always liked that piece from the movie soundtrack.

So, I have very little experience flying any 2-seaters over the past few months. I flew some in P2 but only fought them in P3. Tonite, I took up a FEE, a Roland, and a Hannover, all on free flights to reacquaint my self with their personalities. All were OK until I switched back to the gunner's seat. The notice advised me that the pilot was now in control of the machine. So, each time, immediately, the plane would start to wing-over, as if were beginning to make a death spin toward the earth. I gave it a few moments to gather itself an stabilize. And each time, the spin would flatten out and the machine would begin a very slow descent to earth. The throttle showed 0 %. Eventually, my plane would pancake in the middle of nowhere. The only way to save it would to go back to the pilot's control immediately and take over and reset the throttle. I am sure that I am only missing something small here (my brain). How does one properly switch to the gunner's position without the pilot running you into the ground at 100mph plus?

OT: The Mrs. Suggested I Tidy Up My Desk Today
AROTH replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Actually, it looks quite in order compared to mine........ -
After playing this sim since it was released, I finally had a pilot survive long enough to get a confirmed kill ! Ha-ha, there may still be hope for me yet. (Now, he will probably get knocked off the next time he goes aloft!)

OT: Real open cockpit expieriance
AROTH replied to Pappy55's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Tiger Moth, Stearman, and a Waco - all 3 about 25 years ago, however, I still vividly recall the experiences as if they were yesterday. What fun! -
Well, I did a lot of computer "cleaning" yesterday, which included dumping out older seldom used programs and reloading some others. I also, uninstalled CFS3 and OFF and reloaded everything from scratch. I also dumped the older Nvidia drivers and installed the new one, 190.62 Two improvements - OFF runs better now in Campaign mode. I was already getting good fps in QC mode, but Campaign was extremely low, 10-20, making it hard to play. Now, it is almost as high as QC. The new Nvidia drivers finally allowed me to have access to the Nvidia Control Panel. Prior to that, I was unable to get the Panel to appear. I had the Panel icon available, but it would never load. Countless attempts at loading and reloading the older drivers failed to produce any success, so I had very limited ability to change any of the settings. These new drivers finally gave me access to the Control Panel. Now, if I could only figure out what all those settings do.......:lol2:

What are you using for ammunition? Cannon rounds? My guns never seem that effective. Great fun to watch! Keep them coming!

4 minute 40 plan fureball video
AROTH replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Wow, great video! I had one almost like that a few moments ago - too bad I don't know how to record these things yet. 4 of us in Spads from the 13th were heading toward the lines for a patrol when all of a sudden, the sky became filled up with Fokker D.VII's - three groups of them from all sides. I counted at least 10-11 in the last group alone, added to the 12-14 already there. Oh, we are all gonna die! Spun around in circles shooting when I could and trying to avoid being hit, but alas, eventually, after several minutes, I bit the dust! No idea what happened to my 3 wingies. -
Since the recent Superpatch was introduced, would there be any significant difference in the amount of "computer power" necessary to run Campaign vs CFSQC or QC? Beforehand, I was able to run both modes with fairly decent and matched frame rates (except during takeoffs in Campaign) Now, CFSQC and QC still run well (25-40 fps range), but Campaign seems to have dropped significantly (8-15 fps), even with the sliders down to 1 and 2, and labels turned off. Thanks.
-
Yes, much improved. The previous Spad used to kill all my pilots by stalling into uncontrollable spins. I actually flew two missions the other night and not only returned to my airfield alive, but also managed to down an enemy plane during each fight. There is hope!

Dark stuff. Porters and stouts. I hold it to the light, and if I can see thru it, then I put it back........
-
I am not sure if this has been mentioned before, so don't blacklist me if it has. Not a complaint, just an observation. I fly mainly in QC modes, so it may only be a QC thing. I have noticed that the enemy AI aircraft never seem to "break off" from a furball fight if they are getting their behinds whomped. If a flight of 6 enemy approaches, and my flight attacks (or visa-versa), the fight continues until all of them are harshly dealt with. I suppose if my flight was getting bumped off one at a time, I might collect the remaining members and head for home to avoid a slaughter. Is it just my imagination?
-
You would ask me a difficult question.........I can't remember why I have what I have......

Can anyone advise if the music from the opening video in BHAH was made for this sim or is an already published classical piece? I am a sometimes classical music listener, and while driving today, a piece came on the radio that sounded vaguely familiar. I turned it up and could swear it was the opening music for BHAH. (I started swerving and aiming at other drivers - just joking!)
