Sudden and multiple game malfunctions
AROTH replied to AROTH's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
OK, update.. I did another unstall/re-install of OFF. I did not do CFS again because I ran several flights on it first and saw no issues there. After OFF was reinstalled, I opened it up and went thru the usual enlistment of pilots (4). First one was run thru "Campaign". Claims submitted and flight log showed the results. Hud showed red and blue markers for enemy and friendlies, No problems noted. Second one was run thru "Quick Combat" (Main Page). Claims submitted and flight log showed the results. Hud showed red and blue markers for enemy and friendlies. No problems noted. Third one was run thru CFS QC on the "Workshops" page. Claims submitted and flight log showed the results. Hud, however, showed all red markers except for my flight members and what I assume was my home base only. All other markers were red, including all airbases and other ground objects inside the lines (truck convoys, balloons, etc). Even an airbase within sight distance of my home base was red, even if it was clearly way inside the front lines (checking the map). This is where I am starting to get confused, as I thought in the past - and I may be wrong, everything on the enemy side would be in red and everything on my side would be blue, as above in "Campaign" or "Quick Combat". Fourth pilot was run thru CFS QC on "Workshops" page, just the same as #3 (finally KIA) above was. More confusion. This one received no claim forms for victories nor did the log entries record anything, even though he was put thru 4 different very active combats. Nothing had been changed setting-wise from those in #3's. As far as anyone would know, bringing up his dossier would show nothing happened yet in his flying career. Also, Hud display was still all red except for his flight and home airbase. So, no settings were changed between #3 and #4, but the log entries stopped being recorded then. -
Now, you all have me thinking - (dangerous!) I recall seeing wings coming off after one of the earlier patches (can't recall which one) that did not come off during the original install. Now, after 1.28/1.28a, I don't think I have see that happen at all. Back to testing.....

I like to use metres for my German pilots - it just sounds neat.

OT anyone over 40 remember this?

Owww ! Those things all made my head hurt real bad.........! -
A quick question to some of you who have played this sim for awhile now. Is there a significant difference in the amount of graphics used in Campaign as compared to QC? I noticed that my QC flights are generally smooth, FPS-wise, (except for an extremely heavy dogfight) and the Campaign Missions seem to struggle a little bit , FPS-wise, even during calm flight. Is there just more data being pumped in during Campaign?
-
Thanks uncleal, That was it. Just backed off 2 of the sliders and the Campaign FPS rate picked up - much better now. I guess Campaign takes just a little bit more juice than QC.

Tonite, I noticed that the Pfalz D.IIIa I was flying, was missing all of its wing bracing wires. The landing gear and elevator cables were present. I altered the "Aircraft Detail" slider back and forth, just in case, without change. All other aircraft I tested had all the rigging. Anyone else seen this, or is it just me and my old eyes?
-
Naw, never did get the Control Panel issue resolved, but I have learned to adjust what I can thru the Workshop settings to be acceptable. (Still, it be nice to look at it...) It is just the Pfalz not displaying the bracing wires, and not the other aircraft, so as long as my wings don't snap off in a dive, that's ok. Anyway, I should be concentrating on keeping my behind from being shot down instead....... :crutch00:

Tonite I attempted to file several claims per the usual way. As usual, in the end, some of them get confirmed and others don't - no problem there. However, with my last pilot, I filed claims on three different occasions and received a message I have never seen before, stating something to the effect that my claims were erroneous and will be rejected outright. I went back to the claim forms in all three cases to double check my info, and seeing nothing different from the past , attempted to submit them again, still with the same results. Anyone else seen this and have any idea what it means?

Patch 1.26 observations and comments
AROTH replied to Winston DoRight's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Great patch! Downed twelve 2-seaters tonite on about 5 different flights. I was able to disable the gunners on 8 of them by shooting from their blind spots - after that, it wasn't difficult to get the pilot. My previous record for getting 2-seaters was about 4 total out of about 50-60 combats with them, and most of those combats resulted in me getting the worst of it. I also got some spinners tonite, too. Much better effect, down and out quickly as opposed to the long slow gliders. One flamer and a lot of smokers. The variety is very pleasing. The only negative thing was my fault. I flew over my first major ground battle (after disobeying orders and leaving the flight leader) because I could see it taking place in the distance and wanted to see it close up. Yep, you guessed it - shot down by ground fire! I was so fascinated by all that was going on that I temporarily forgot my purpose for being there - too late! Great effects though! A thousand thanks to the OFF developers - keep up the excellent work! -
Well heck. The other day while flying the SE, I had just downed an Albatros and my squadron mate ahead of me did two complete victory rolls in front of me. First of all, it wasn't his anyway, and secondly, the jerk almost collided with me after the second one.....

I have been primarily flying dogfight scenarios so far, and pretty well have an understanding of that area. Question - what type of ground targets should I be seeing any visible damage from (and how severe) when selecting any kind of "Ground Attack" mission? For example, tonite I elected to attack airfields. I shot almost every target at very close ranges, had about a final 25% hit ratio. Parked aircraft and moving trucks showed no response from being hit and only one British troop appeared to fall down. I have also done a railyard mission once before and recall that it also did not show any effect. Are any of these targets supposed to react, and if so, under what game settings, or am I just not actually close enough, or just doing it all wrong?

Ok, just wanted to get some other input of this aspect of the sim. Makes good sense. I'll just have to practice on this a lot more - if I don't get too many pilots plastered all over the landscape in the process!

Gee, I finally found my way here - I thought I had been banned on the other site....
