Someone said that track ir 6 would be out soon. True or not? Would it be an upgrade from 5, and worth holding off buying 5 now?
Thanks for you input. CW3SF
I am not aware that the TrackIR 6 is in development

In general the TrackIR 4 is still a good camera, and works great (one reason we still manufacture, and sell them), but the camera itself was designed over 4 years ago, and the imager technology has benn updateed since then, so we updated the TrackIR as well.
Our comparision page can be found here -

What OS are you running?
What version of the TrackIR software are you using?

Vince, when you are from Natural Point: What must one do to get an OFF video into your site?
I saw, other sims had one in there, and OFF could surely do with more publicity?
If you have a good video you would like posted, you can email it to me support @ naturalpoint.com, and I can foward it on to the TrackIR team from there.

Still no go - I just see white screens where the profile set ups should shown. I'm running Vista 64 but the NaturalPoint site says Version 5 software is compatible with Vista and the TrackIR 4 Pro setup - I've tried the one-one, smooth and default selections - strange as the original version software works OK ??
Latest video card drivers.
The white out section indicates that the software is having an issue drawing OPenGL, as those windows use OpenGL.

Lou S!
Just looked at the trackir support website. It says that the latest version supports Trackir 4 and 5.
However, A LATER version, 5.1, will support trackir 3 with vector expansion.
So, us trackir 3 fellas are not yet able to use it- it says-
But, has anyone ( reckless types among you -lol ) with trackir 3 ventured and tried this present software?
You could try it, but the software is just not designed yet to see the TrackIR 3 hardware.
I doubt very much that they will bother doing a TR3 version (even though they say they will)
I'll do my best to make it happen. I wanted it supported with the release of the 5.0 software, but there where some issues with the Vector expansion support.

I am interested in getting the TrackIR system and am interested in any other uses that my wife could use it for. Would it allow her to control the mouse pointer or other computer devices? I think it would be much easier to justify the money spent if there was some uses for her in addition to my flight sims.Secondly, other than the wider area for the camera view, would I be missing out on that much getting the TrackIR 4?
Unfortunately the mouse emulation application is only designed to be used within an application that is using the the DirectX input, so it will not work on the system desktop

No, "lap snap" has been around since at least 026 or so. At least I've had problems with it that long. Some people have never seen it, some (like you), only see it with 030, others (like me) saw it with all the 4.1 versions. It's a strange one. I remember trying to get Seth interested in fixing it and he could never get it to happen so I guess he blew me off as one of them kooks. Oh well. Those guys try real hard so I never complained about it. Glad it's gone with the 5 hardware and software. I tell you, the 5 hardware is so much better than 4 that I had planned a whole evening to get it set up when I got it and ended up pretty much done in about 15 minutes. It is incredibly smooth and responsive. All the little tricks I had to do with 4 just disappeared. TIR5 is a huge improvement over 4.BTW, the reason I say there is really no advantage to going to 5 software is that the 5 hardware has significantly better resolution and the 5 software is written specifically to manage that device. The backward compatibility they built in was just so they could eventually retire version 4. If I were you (and everyone else listening), I would stay with version 4 as long as you can and as long as you have 4 hardware (obviously).
I'm sure Seth didn't try and "blow" you off, but unfortunately it can be difficult to track down an issue, when we are unable to reproduce it.

my trackir isnt registering any of the 3rd wire games. i updated TrackIR software/game. got the SP and the latest patch for WOV. but there is still no profile for any 3rd wire games. so i went back to natural point and downloaded the latest game support file. still nothing in the profile tab from 3rd wire. so what am i doing wrong?if it matters i use TrackIR 4 Pro VE.
What version of the TrackIR software are you using?
So in the upper games list, there is no listing for First Eagles, WOE, Strik Fighters?
Trackir-6?"

The TrackIR 5 itself is more accurate, than the TrackIR 4.

Regardless of using either the TrackIR 4, or the 5, background IR light (sunlight, incandecent bulbs, etc.) can cause tracking issues, as IR light is IR light to the cameras. The TrackIR 5 software is a little better at only tracking moving objects, so that can help out as well.
When using the 5, and you had extra IR issues, did you try adjusting the light filtering option, in the advanced settings -> camera tab?
