Thanks. More progress shots.

More progress shots.

Got started mapping the Nieuport 28, America's first fighter plane. Also found some hokey Hollywood shots from that old classic, the Dawn Patrol.

Thanks to sterling efforts by Heck and VonS, the Pfalz is nearing completion.

Worked on details and the Flying Circus concept.

Also making good progress on the Halberstadts.

While Heck and VonS sort out the file conflicts, they leave me free to work on models and artwork.

Some progress and reference shots.

We've been having problems getting the Pfalz D3 cockpit to display, probably because we are using a hodge-podge of files which are not always compatible. For a reality check, I loaded a rough version of the cockpit into the old Pfalz DR1 model. Shots below show it being nudged into position.

Heck, VonS, and I have been discussing the possibility of a dual release of the Pfalz D3a and Nieuport 28. "Fighting The Flying Circus!"
-
Outstanding! How big are your tiles?

Heck and VonS are having a great time testing the Pfalz handling, and then comparing notes. Meanwhile, I took it for a quick spin above gterl's Vosges2.

Progress shot on the cockpit art. Because of the antique game engine's rudimentary lighting, I am painting the fall of light into the artwork.

You're welcome. Test shots of the CL4 as I start to rough in markings for one of several color schemes I like.

As I near completion of the Pfalz, Heck is test flying the hell out of it to find the problems I always overlook. Also got started mapping the new Halberstadt CL.IV.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Flying Circus Volume I Announced
Geezer replied to don246's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
The visual improvements alone are really tempting, but most Ukrainian/Russian sims lack mod tools. Plus, as VonS pointed out, the planned releases appear to require the latest, very expensive, technology. Consequently, I won't hold my breath - but I would love to be proven wrong! -
Some test shots over gterl's magnificent Vosges2 map which I finally got to run properly thanks to VonS' guidance on shimmering buildings.
