"Last night police charged an 18-year-old man with Chloe’s attempted murder." Someone who attacks a 14yo girl is not a man, its a meatbag scum.

AIM-9B tactics

Specially when some of them start sniping you between 0.8-1.0 miles and the damn missile wont give you a tone. I hate that. -
Changing jet sounds
Jaman replied to DEVIL11's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The two most common problems when replacing engine sounds are these: 1. You made a mistake when you replaced it on the aircraft xxx_DATA.ini, make sure it matches the wav file exactly. For instance, if the sound is "F14.wav" the line must be "EngineSoundName=F14". 2. The wav is in stereo, if thats the case you must resample it to mono (Audacity is a free opensource program that makes such a thing very easy). -

Ins/Outs of the campaignDATA.INI?
Jaman replied to arthur666's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
You must count how many blue squadrons are in the campaign xxx_DATA.ini to find out the ID for the next one. For instance: You have 35 Blue squadrons on your campaign and 10 Red squadrons, thats a total of 45 [AirUnitxxx]. That means you are going to add the next Squadron identified as [AirUnit046], but its ID for the xxx.INI file should be 36 as it is the 36th blue squadron on the campaign. -

WOV Air&Ground Campaign
Jaman posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Lets say I just did copy the right file at the wrong place and now the A-1H_loadout.ini is screwed. Would anybody paste here the right loadout for that aircraft on this mod? I rather not download the entire campaign again just for that tiny piece of text. Thank you. -

Some sounds don't work
Jaman replied to warthog64's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Have you replaced them? If you did, make sure they are not in stereo. Have you being tinkering with the SOUNDLIST.ini file? If you did make sure you didnt screwed the numerical secuence (I did once, it took me a while to realize that was the problem). Are you sure the _DATA.ini file for each plane is correctly pointing at those files for the engine sound? EDIT: Oh, oops, this is the SF2 forum...not sure if my suggestions are valid with this one. -
Una cosa es cierta, como Gadafi pretenda poner algún trasto en el aire se van a multiplicar las deserciones entre los pilotos que le quedan.

Thats the way you do it. Violence is wrong, but sometimes its the only language some idiots understand. Show the right degree of it and they will leave you alone.

Pasko´s F-80C FM
Jaman posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I have been trying to make the old Korean War campaign playable with the Oct08 patch. So far I think its going pretty well but I have encounter a problem with the F-80C FM. I believe the problem is the FM being outtdated. The thing is the plane bleeds airspeed at an alarming rating during turns and after it goes below 250knts its almost impossible to keep turning tight, otherwise you might lose another 100knts on a second and stall. It also makes almost impossible to do an Immelman unless you are no less than 400knts, and after you finish it you´ll be at stall speed. This innability makes the plane tottaly useless on a dogfight even against props like the Yak9, you cannot turn with them and you cannot take them to the vertical, the only option being fleeing. I barely understand anything about the FM on the _DATA.ini file so I´m askin if any of you could give me a tip or two on how to make it more swift on turns. Thanks. -

I have started to compare it to other similar airplanes that seem to perform correctly (more or less, I guess) like the F-84G and the F9F, but its hard when you barely understand what each parameter means. For instance, the F-84G had on the [Fuselage] section no MassFraction while the F-80C had a MassFraction of 0.380. What does that mean? Also what does these parameters mean? (Left its the F-80C, right the F-84G) AlphaStall=18.58 | 26.58 AlphaMax=20.53 | 34.53 AlphaDepart=22.40 | 41.40 EDIT: They are from the [LeftWing] section. -
German Mirage III upgrade programme
Jaman replied to PraetorH's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I think replacing the twin DEFA 551 with a couple of Mauser BK-27 should be possible. Both are of similar size and shape and even though the BK-27 is a little bit heavier (100kg for 85kg of the DEFA) the difference doesnt seem big enough to be a concern. -
Agree, better wait for more information before start calling names. My condonlences for the familes of those who died.

Most Kills, Single Sortie...
Jaman replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There shouldn´t be any, just show them some ass and they wont resist the temptation. Once they are down and close break hard going even lower (they wont follow past 100 feet, never ever unless they mess up big, in that case they should become one with the grass so no problem), at one point they will level, gain speed and some alttitude before they try to turn again, that´s your cue; if you do a high yoyo you´ll be right behind them. It might take two or three attemps before you can get close enough after the yoyo, but eventually you´ll be there. Its a matter of timing. About the AAA, well, if you fight over a crowded area, keep your speed up when you go down, otherwise those 57mm will eat you to the bone. At least their tracers are quite easy to spot. If you can try to lure the 17´s to the jungle (mountains are less dangerous than the 57´s). -

Jaman replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Bring em close to the ground, the AI doesn´t like to fly that low so they wont be able to turn tight. Doing that I can get into a 17´s six within two or three high yoyos. -
Wings Over Vietnam won't start?
Jaman replied to cianw1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, when you buy a software and it doesn´t work the first thing to do is look for updates. Specially with an old software like Wings over Vietnam (released in 2004). And in this case you dont even have to go to the developers webpage, the latest patch is right here at Combat Ace. -
Most Kills, Single Sortie...
Jaman replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
AI is quite strange when it comes to planes on a bombing mission. Flying the Yom Kippur War campaign on WoI I have come to observe four behaviours. 1º You approach, they see you, they do nothing, you attack and slaughter them. 2º You approach, they see you, they do nothing, you attack, they break and later try to get back on track for a bombing run (this one I have only seen on IL-28s and Tu-16s). 3º You approach, they see you, they do nothing, you attack and then they drop ordinance and break (in case of fighters or interceptors they fight back). 4º You approach, they see you, they drop ordinance and break (thats seems to be the most rare one).
