(Marcfighters) KC-10A Extender in the 90s
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File (Marcfighters) KC-10A Extender in the 90s (Marcfighters) KC-10A Extender in the 90s This is a redux of the Marcfighters KC-10 mod. It incorporates each wing that used the KC-10A in the early to mid 1990s. This includes the units that still operated the Extender at the transition from SAC to AMC, as well as the transition to Travis and McGuire AFBs. Also included are the two skins for the KDC-10 tanker version used by the Royal Netherlands Air Force Installation: Unlike many of my mods, i reccommend just deleting the previous mod if you have it on hand. This is a vast leap over the older skin set, and coversall available tankers rather than just 6 for each camo style. Allowing overwrite should not hurt anything, just dont complain about clutter if you go that path. Otherwise, like always, unzip and install into any SF2 mod folder. Included: 5 skins for the 458th ARG, 22d ARW, 4th Wing, and the 60th and 305th AMWs in 1995 multi camo decal sets for these skins nose art as appropriate tweeked skins for the KDC-10 aircraft original decals for these aircraft Known Issues the model and flight model are the same that Marcfighters included in the original (SF1) ODS mod. it was meant as eyecandy, and had no pit. as released i have commented out the cockpit, but had a sitting on the nose pit so i could load it in game to check work. there are also no windows for the cockpit, the entire fuselage is one piece (cause marking limitations) it is sluggish, and flies nose down. given there is a newer model known to be in the pipeline (eta two weeks), i am putting the lipstick on this pig but not working too much ini improvement. over 3/4 of the work on this should transfer easy to the new model when it comes.comments on how she flies will be referred to this warning. Credit and Thanks marcfighters original model daddyairplanes skin and decal work KC-10 FB group reference on the old days of this tanker Anthony Spencer more detailed reference on the KC-10 Stratos, NightshadeP/R, allenjb42 extra eyes to catch my mistakes I hope you enjoy this mod Kevin Unruh aka daddyairplanes 28 June 2020 Submitter daddyairplanes Submitted 06/29/2020 Category Other -

SAC Twilight : KC-10A Extender(Marcfighters) This is a redux of the Marcfighters KC-10 mod. It incorporates each wing that used the KC-10A in the last few years of SAC service also included is a El Dorado Canyon skin. While we do not currently have this operation in the game, I was able to find pics of ten Extenders in the UK in the middle of April, 1986. Ten KC-10As were used in the operation. you do the math. Installation: Unlike many of my mods, i reccommend just deleting the previous mod if you have it on hand. This is a vast leap over the older skin set, and covers all available tankers rather than just 6 for each camo style. Allowing overwrite should not hurt anything, just dont complain about clutter if you go that path. Otherwise, like always, unzip and install into any SF2 mod folder. Included: 4 skins for the 2d BMW, 22d ARW, 68th ARW, and Operation El Dorado Canyon with historical serial numbers multi camo decal sets for these skins nose art as appropriate Known Issues the model and flight model are the same that Marcfighters included in the original (SF1) ODS mod. it was meant as eyecandy, and had no pit. as released i have commented out the cockpit, but had a sitting on the nose pit so i could load it in game to check work. there are also no windows for the cockpit, the entire fuselage is one piece (cause marking limitations) it is sluggish, and flies nose down. given there is a newer model known to be in the pipeline (eta two weeks), i am putting the lipstick on this pig but not working too much ini improvement. over 3/4 of the work on this should transfer easy to the new model when it comes comments on how she flies will be referred to this warning. trail of smoke stays longer
daddyairplanes replied to jack33's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
for longer smoke trail, you really gotta bump the particleLife up. when i changed water injection on the B-52G i went with around 210. i was trying for that extreme smokiness that comes from a water injection MITO takeoff, but the info might be useful for what youre doing too -

post the original ini, with the changes youve made so we can compare also are you saving this to the effects folder in the mod folder, and do all your names match up? ie texturematerial=abc.tga in both the ini and abc.tga in folder. it is a common issue for ini changes not taking effect -

the most you could do is to make the rear (or other side) cockpit the one you fly from, with changes to the proper section of the data.ini this WILL NOT allow you to be a bombadier or RIO. it would be most useful in the instance of a training aircraft, if you wished to fly as the instructor (with a more limited view than normal) if you want to play other crewmen than the pilot in command, wait a little. Microprose is going to re release 8th Air Force in the near future -
compared to a C-130, they are insanely comfortable to fly in. even with an MRAP parked next to you.

Is there a way to play SF2 with friends?
daddyairplanes replied to osmanfirat's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
closest to multiplayer SF2 has come is threads back in the older days of 2013 or 14 where members here would post missions from campaign mods (Op Darius comes to mind). but as far as going out and dogfighting your buddy, its a wish for SF Win10 that wont likely come true (although i'm sure it would be a cash cow TK) to clarify, it was not 2+ people flying and fighting in Op Darius. it was one community member picking say VF-103 in Super Hornets playing the game in their own system, then posting screenshots of how it went to include if they were shot down. rinse wash and repeat across the dozen or so that posted to that thread -
Decals showing up in Viewer but not in Game

its not that the prolific Gimp users dont make this mistake, its that we do about 3-5 times a week and are so used to it that its part of our automatic fix it now checklist -

other possible that happened to me is the folder being in the wrong place. to clarify, i now do my development work in a folder on a thumbdrive. allows me to work on laptop or desktop. then i transfer the updated versions to laptop to fly. but sometimes (including this weekend) i forget to transfer. therefore, shows in viewer, not in game dont know that is your issue, but the topic did stand out to me given 30 mins of frustration yesterday! one other Gimp bit of advice, relating to how you export: bmp if you go that route has to be exported in 24 bit (found in advanced options). tga you only have to deselect compression the first time you fire the program up, but so far i've had to select 24bit every time exporting a bmp. just something to throw out there -

dont underestimate. big ship, lots of watertight compartments = damn hard to sink thinking American CVA but i thought 14 was a bit few to sink a carrier. besides, could you pick out USS Chicago in those pics?
