not to mention that the alure of his site is not the quality of the mods, but rather the variety he has that we don't (Connies, various WW2 ships, the above requested). Also i think most of the 3d modellers wont recreate the wheel since it is available, just difficult to get. F24A, careful what you ask for. those are set to Gen1 (means some minimal conversion at best) and esp props have wonky FMs esp in SF2. -

Douglas DC-8 series By Veltro2k This mod features three versions of the Douglas DC-8 jetliner and historical skinsets from introduction in the early '60s through the mid '80s. A little something for eye candy around the airfields or to run intercepts on. Versions *DC-8 representing the original DC-8-10/20/30/40 versions with the quieting tubes on the exhaust *DC-8-50 representing the final short fuselage version and JT3D engines without quieting tubes *DC-8-60 representing two of the final new build versions with stretched fuselage. *several historical skinsets for all models *flight and nations ini edits to allow airliner nation and a spaced out in line formation Installation unzip and load into mods folder. allow merging Known Issues * The cockpit is the same pit as in all V2k's big jet planes. Not proper but the plane was meant for eye candy not regular missions * The DC-8-50 model has a seam running along the spine. Until Veltro makes an appearance again this will be there. It is not noticeable at a distance *This is a huge mod (4 1/2 GB) due to how i've made the skins, or specifically the tgas for the fuselage. It takes a bigger decal to paint the side of an airliner Credits Veltro2k original model daddyairplanes skin and tga work, some ini edits stratos, whiteknight06604 last chance, eyes on testing I hope you enjoy this mod as much as i enjoyed making it Kevin Unruh aka daddyairplanes 28 Oct 2016 -

would be nice. Veltro's the one most likely to tackle such a thing (he did make an HS748) but has been out the loop since july -

i did, but Ed's the modeller and he's been out of touch since July. it would have needed a few mission equipment add ons esp on the wingtips IIRC -

a thought on submarines
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
submarines arent much in game right now because game limits. but could this be a work around.... do the antenna removal trick but over the whole sub not just one part. this would probably require the sub to be one piece but 90 percent of them dont have noticable moving parts other than the screw. as i understand how that trick works, it makes the part invisible until the aircraft is destroyed. a sub popping up being proof of hte kill. in theory this allows ASW planes to do their thing questions being could the subs still be tracked? can this be applied to ground objects? and is this interesting enough to purue if possible -

yup, quite like that. now i gotta go back and remember how torpedoes are classed. if the ships can fire SAMs, why not surface to surface? (been painting airliners too long...) bad part is gets the gears spinning faster as i'my away from main computer. -

well that sucks on hidden objects. thought two is: do you think the sub could sit much lower in the water? that is to where all but the periscope are below water? (hey if the game can screw up and send a CVBG through the beach..) -
What If Screenshot Thread.......
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
was talking bout this, the never used outermost stations originally for ECM pods, Harm tested on them early 90s when the Eagle was considered as a Weasel replacement, demo'd for Eagle 2040 but it appears USAF still wont use it. if you put your last 2 Phoenixes there and fuel in the usual spot no clipping on Amraam or Winders. but it would probably handle like a pig in work boots..... -

Other questions/statement..... who did it go into service with first? despite the F/A designator, that didn't come about until the early 80s. and only after realizing that the difference in the F-18 and A-18 was just a few lines of code in the avionics. if Air Force is first, it should go something like XF-109 (test only) 61-68 Joint service F-109A Oct 62-76 USAF XF3L original USN deignation, not used after 1962 F-109B 63-71 1st USN variant F-109C second USAF variant, or Navy. upgraded whatever and whatever gets a new letter for the major upgrades F-109D second USAF variant, or Navy. upgraded whatever and whatever gets a new letter for the major upgrades F-109G converted from lower hour F-109(second version in USAF service) for SEAD duties 1972-1976 F-109G second batch converted from low hour F-109(third version in USAF) 1975-1996 second and third versions in USAF service would have been sent to the Guard or Reserves or converted to Weasel or recon by 1976 due to wear and tear on airframes from vietnam usage. its why most F-105s were retired in the early 70s except the weasels. specialty airframes are expensive and get kept around longer. Navy airframes would have fairly short lifetimes per each model due to wartime usage and stresses from operatng at sea. i do like the operate from a small ship aspect of that mission, reminds one of an old Brit plan form the 80s to put a couple of Harriers on each ofthe Merchies for air defense. makes you wonder about an AEW version, only with boosted radar and fuel tanks instead of weps to keep watch like the Hawkeyes on CVBGs. then you wouldnt have the big target and lose all your birds in one strike not meaning to be critical. i am a fan of alternate history, but believe in the maxim of minimal change. many of hte same pressures and factors would exist in service introduction, usage over lifetime, and sevice exit. also new builds would have probably stopped around the early 70s due to the Harrier being easier to maintain than the F-109, and newer aircraft being better at the various jobs save for the VTOL aspect, which the Navy and Air Force never were too crazy about in the first place. but it would have been useful in special roles (Weasel, sea control/convoy escort, anti helo ops in Western Europe). also dont discount NATO usage, which was the driver for this aircraft. several of the countries sought an aircraft that could disperse to small hideaways rather than be tied to large airbases. it pretty much was the USAF that had the illusion of defending the base it would fly from. -

daddyairplanes replied to Eagle114th's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
cool idea. some suggestions on the history of it after 1962 it would retain teh F-109 name for the Air Force as well as the Navy (tri service common nomenclature system) for hte Navy after 1973-4ish this would be ideal for the Sea Control Ships. Harriers were tested for it in 75-76 on the Roosevelt's last cruise. Perhaps a couple of Essexs' would be saved for this purpose.... for the Weasel version, esp given when you have it coming to be, why not F-109G? the F-4G was so designated due to the F-105G variant despite the G designator having been used before briefly by the Navy finally i dont know that any of the versions would have made it past teh big draw down from 1991 to 1995. age of airframe, maintainence and overall end strength would have mandated older systems going (which this would have been by then) Possibly a last hurrah for ODS but definately not in service with US into the 21st century. other countries on the other hand..... just my couple of pennies tossed in -

second account (different name) banned from DAT. Win10 evidently decided to retry failed downloads for me and busted my limit (awwww damn). still got all the all inclusive downloads except Timor and Spanish civil war, as well as 113 individual files. why you ask? just to see how far i could get on that site. now the question is....... how many points is a dual banning worth? -

capun world from sfp1 to SF2 !
daddyairplanes replied to kurdistan1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
many FMs period are wonky for Capun products period, and he will state "it wasnt developed for Gen 2". best bets: 1 check the knowledge base, it has threads on correcting from Gen1 to Gen 2 2 check throughout the threads for anything on FMs to build your personal knowledge. it is a black art but some of the masters here have put bits of info out there 3 that sites name isnt the best in these parts, but there are folks who still have the access there. specific questions about that site's mods (AH-1W) are best directed to that site, while general mod questions (how to fix helicopter FMs) can be for here. without the big debate, thats how things tend to be good luck to you in converting to Gen 2 -
GETTING HIGH AND STABLE FPS ON MAX SETTINGS
daddyairplanes replied to saisran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
whatcha you all running for RAM (saisran exluded, saw yours)? tried my new toy out overland Iceland to compare to my old one. I7-6700, GTX1070, and 32 GB RAM and had a wicked drop in fps after dropping Snakes on a hot target..... from 102 down to 77. while i dont think anyone else here is gonna be running 32GB, 16 could be a decent goal. i updated my usual system few years back from 8 to 16GB and am typing this on a desktop taht needs to be updated (6GB installed, slightly over 3 usable). Iceland is the screwiest of the stock terriains and the more memory available the more stable. i havent messed with edits like forceVsync in a long time btw, just set high items important to me (mostly outside world) with exception to teh desktop. for the record on my RAM theory desktop 3.5GB ram integrated card 30-40 fps norm drops to single digits HP dv6 16GB ram radeon card 50-60 norm drops to high teens low 20s at worst xidax XM-10 32 GB ram nVidia 1070 100 norm dropped 25 pts just my thoughts on the matter. -
Back after a long(ish) hiatus...armed with some questions!
daddyairplanes replied to GodsLt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
you can go higher with the fps, but methinks you have to have a beast of a rig to do so. i recently hit 90s over iceland, dropping snakes at 250 agl and external looking back to watch the explosions. course for starters i have 32GB ram in that system soooooo as for mortal systems, i turn off mirrors and do a custom set up. keep alot of outside world detail and still manage 50s on avg also stay away from stock iceland as thats a framerate killer once you get near any land or action. as to the brimstones, i recall there being some issue with em. check the threads, i think they wound up going with Hellfires lods in Brimstone inis but not sure and it was awhile ago. of course some one will likely point it out better calling me an idiot as they correct this outside of that welcome back!
