Thinking about a 1948 Europe Campaign, need good site for "blue" OOB
daddyairplanes replied to Slant6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
A limited campaign would be interesting too. Uncle Joe needed to rebuild the Soviet Union in the years between 45 and 50 and while like any good Russian nationalist (odd as Stalin was Georgian) he believed the Soviet side would win, it would be a victory they might not recover from. So perhaps a big scuffle over Berlin, few retaliatory strikes on airbase then Stalin tells his people to stand down. Limit ground war to infantry around the Berlin area so it's not a Soviet push over -
Been gone on my final Reserve AT for last three weeks. old school field problem; in the woods no internet, spotty phone, sweating balls. Drop retirement papers next month then wait on big Army to churn out some orders. also got a bump in VA disability just before so using some of that retro pay to get a new system. thats a suprise for in a few weeks after i test SF2NA on it. but mostly it will be for trying a few indie dev ideas of my own. will get back to airline modding shortly, got abit of RL to take care of before jumping back into heavy modding but contrary to the rumors i am alive and kicking (and not in the back of a police van or CIA plane!)

daddyairplanes replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Thought someone had posted a Sunderland WIP few years back, or are my memories just being wishful? -

Nah, more likely masked and asking why the agent has to shoot a man when he can be thrown out of the plane ( extra points for who gets it)

I've heard the theory of that, has it actually been tested? -

Well, we will take that declaration with a grain of salt. I'm more interested to see what the Isrealis do with it in the near future. -

Sounds goods, as usual a,reality check: despite its more commonly being called the Warthog, the A-10's proper name is Thunderbolt 2. Hence the many publicity photos of the P-47 and it together. Other than that, looks awesome! Edit due to auto correct -

T-6G Mosquitos in Vietnam ?
daddyairplanes replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
SWAG.... start silver, same rockets as Korean War as well as 30 cal gun pods. Late in life looks like above, but with colorful Vietnamese marking (rudder as a flag, dragon unit mark etc) -
T-6G Mosquitos in Vietnam ?
daddyairplanes replied to Geary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
never known historical fact to stop you! still, would go VNAF markings rather than USAF, even if it typically was an American in the front seat in the early years! -

Sundowner did a few single seater Phantoms IIRC, possibly a basis for your project? -

DCS World remains my primary sim despite some disappointment
daddyairplanes replied to streakeagle's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
just as counterpoint, all the faults and wishes listed are why i like SF2, even with ALL ITS' faults. when DCS finally has many places to fly or at least 1/3 the available aircraft (stock or mod) i will get interested and drop the money. for now it's on the list for my family to get for a bday or Christmas but they always aim for cheaper stuff (trying to keep me happy with misapplied budget control). It is quite awesome, but i cant paint up DC-8s for it (airliner skins having become a recent hobby of mine). yeah, basically boils down to variety one glaring fault i noticed not mentioned above is the lack of a certain McAir product that is abundant in SF2 -
A video from my latest install
daddyairplanes replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
awesome for the possibilities. However also keep in mind one of the historical facts: that the Soviet Union declared war on Japan on 9 Aug 45 and if the Japanese still chose to fight on (even tho one of their largest fighting forces left was destroyed in Manchuria) you would see Soviet air in there as well as the primary American air show with Brit and Aussie secondary acts. addition: jet v jet----- the original Phantom (FH-1) was awarded a contract for 100 planes March '45. the Olympic invasion was set for Nov '45 so not outside plausibilty to have one or two jet squadrons off the coast of Japan..... -
Missile launching C-17?
daddyairplanes replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
nice animation. where's footage? and for that matter why hasnt such a capability been discussed? in this day and age dont tell me we have a top secret missile that no freakin airman didnt sneak a pic of while being kicked out of a C-17. not to mention possible INF and START treaty violations of an ALBM as well as the biggest issue, cost to develop and test such a missile. show me a munition designation or actual footage of deployment ok so it does exist Falcon small launch vehicle. betcha the "cheap launcher" and target missle aspect will be played up more than the mobile ALBM launcher portion. footage of the last provable air launch minuteman launch in particular go 24 seconds into the clip -
Missile launching C-17?
daddyairplanes replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Since when do -17s launch ballistic missiles? Last attempt at anything similar was launching a missile out of a C-5 over 30 years ago. -
