Gripen NG for the US

One thing the service chiefs are griping bout is needing new assets NOW. The less changed the faster into service. As said the new tanker will have not one but two drogues, and that would get things moving faster. Plus the spine looks rather narrow to have a door and plumbing for the usual method. Overall very similar to what I ws thinking. I figured LM to make the single seaters but Saab making the two seaters so conversion training coukd get underway. And while its old hat to Saab and Sweden, it would be new to the USAF hence the A/B designators. Finally, due to range and weapons trials, thats why I figured air sovereignty ANG units first. Less need to tank, AAM would be certified fast due to already in use on that air frame. As part of the Total Force (integration of Active, Reserve, and ANG) could even make the 114th FS Oregon ANG the RTU as they current hold a interceptor training slot for the whole ANG. But thsts just my two crnts -
10 isnt too bad, butvif you've got a 7 system running good shut down updates altogether and leave it be

Might want to leave refuel decal off. They have had refueling probe Navy style since Batch 3 iRL and would come online about the time the KC-46 would start being operational. That tanker has a boom centerline, but two pods on the wings for refueling probe planes as well. Do you have a back story on this yet? You've got decal work well in hand (good move with the serials!) And I keep thinking of how this woukd work in a real world scenario. Lockheed Martin F-39A Gryphen and the Saab F-39B Gripen! -

Suggest Viper Squadrons mainly, as that was the bulk to be replace by F-35 and that program being scrapped HAS to be the start basis of any back story to make this happen. No A-10 squadrons as they are off the chopping block til the next decade Also again suggest some ANG units for the Air Soveriegnty mission, mainly the Viper or Eagle units holding down the fort today -

True. Thats why its in the what if section.... nice thought though and beats F-35 in one major factor: cost -

Always felt this would be a good QUICK replacement for the AF F-35s. The engines are essentially F414s, radar and wespons could integrate quickly. Partner with Lockheed Martin to offset loss of JSF business and I always envisioned the Air National Guard getting the first ones to take over the air soveriegnty mission while the rest of the mission/weapon sets were tested. Thats given the AAMs are already integrated with the airframe and a off the shelf radar would likely be fitted from the Vipers or Hornets (cant have the whoke thing license built!) -

Dhimar Sqdn's flyable in campaign Q?
daddyairplanes replied to Spudknocker's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
quick check and this will work. Spinners has a decal pack in the Gen 1 section for unit markings or you can make your own. add this to your pilot data folder, allow overwrite if needed. besides around 10 squadrons for Dhimar, this has many many other global squadrons as well but it will not work in a dedicated other install (like NF5 or ODS) with its own squadronlist so be carefull. finally make sure the skin your using has at least one Level1 decal. it can be a blank decal but if you dont have at least one set DecalLevel=1 then it wont work and squadrons wont show in the drop down hope this helps -

You also have to add squadrons to the squadronlist ini. I believe there is a mod or two that already does that however -
USMC Helo Deployments and Modexes
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
just as the title says. I have the tail codes for all the major players, but all my references list CVA and CVN deployments. I'm looking for the modex used when the HMMs were reinforced on cruise aboard the LPH or LHAs, esp from Vietnam to ODS timeframes. shore based for the HMLAs would be nice too but i cna adjust off of yakarov's AH-1s for those if need be. any assistance is very appreciated -

The $164 Question
daddyairplanes replied to Nicholas Bell's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Personally, everything for me ties back into Europe. It was the first I bought, Vietnam added carriers, Isreal planes as well as the expansion packs. NA added better naval action and SF2 rounded out the collection as well as giving a good place for managerie collection (Dhimari AF Tigers with Dhimari Army Hips. Why not?) But that is my personal story. It took me about 3 years to get al theway there though I've got a wife and three girls so not as much disposable income for myself. The community here has quite alot to add to any of individual versions as well. Just my .02 on this -

No, I'm talking bout the single airline skin. Has been my focus of the last year or so, taking all the heavies and making my multi airline or multi unit skins. But the 757 is also on the list to work on this year. Only posted the elephant walk as I forgot this wasnt the main screenie thread. Still nice MiG and given the way the world has been since 91, suprising its still a what if -
