  1. second to what the other Kevin said. end of the day, its still a game and i dont think theres as many younger (teens to twenties) players for it . so the easier to see, the better
  2. what terrain it is shouldnt matter to the decals showing up look at the decal ini for the affected skin folder. - look at entries for Fuselage. should have something like "squadron logo" "ubangi" "unit" or whatever. probably should be entries for both sides - next look in the decal folder it points to for the decal you need. ie if its "unit123" or "ubangi" if either of these two are missing, no decal will show. - next look at the decal size. if its really small (double digit kb sized) then it might have been exported wrong. in GIMP you must make sure the RLE compression box is unchecked. otherwise it wont show in game. not checking it tends to create a tga file that small, most will be 256 kb or bigger - if all these are good, try changing the decal level to 2 in the ini. yes it makes it a serial but it will show on all of them so long as you dont have another numbered version (do this only if the decal nume doesnt have a number following). it works, i know cause im lazy and leave em all as 2 generall even when its more properly a 0 or 1 hopefully this helps
  3. if your talking the brown on the coastline i could understand. but i cant tell any difference myself on blue areas
  4. Viper Pit

you know i was about to ask you where you got the 474th skin, 12AF bird i legit forgot for a moment that i released those for the TW birds waiting abit to release for Team Viper birds (hence my confusion...) Edit: breaking my own damn rule on posting. heres another Homestead boss, this time from 87
  5. Viper Pit

the resolution seems wonky with your new screens the terrains actually look much better, but your jets now look squished ------- meanwhile, finally pulled into Homestead just in time to see the boss head out
  6. how do you know he wasnt defecting? we'll, when those green tracers started coming my way, i figured that was a clue
  7. Viper Pit

Gunners over the Gulf well over some major body of water.....
  8. the kick i'm getting out of Zuhai is the Chinese reaction to the Su-57 someone in the west hates on it and "we are F-35 fanbois" or hate anything Russian. so what now, now that the "eternal friends" are laughing at it too? semi appropriate screenie for topic
  9. What to play?

it runs ok for the most part. it can crash occasionally if you have a heavily modded install or run more than 4-5 missions in one sitting. but i experienced that more on my desktop that was upgraded from 10 to 11 than my laptop that was 11 out of the box
  10. oh the Herk was the definitive experience for landing for sure. got my first one in in 99 when it was still the Sarajevo drop rather than "combat landing" but take offs..... the Herk said "i think i can i think i can" when loaded with joes and cargo. the Moose on the otherhand did a great rocketship impression and made you think the pilots wanted to get out of there (not an upcoming project )
  11. ya know, theres a scene in the movie Afterburn, where Laura Dern is reminding her Viper pilot hubby that his F-16 wont go as fast or pull as many Gs when its loaded up with ordinance and gas @Nightshade/PR's Viper posts often remind me of that scene, but damn if i can find it on Youtube then again, i can assure you i dont look like Laura Dern, so maybe why he dont listen to me ah well, mando screenie time or what it feels like in the back when taking off in a C-17 in theatre.......
  12. What to play?

if you are not looking to replicate the exact experience of flying a combat aircraft (checklists, switches, comms etc) i second the suggestion for SF2. out of all the combat sims, it has the largest set of free third party mods ranging from terrains and campaigns to skin sets to fly a given aircraft for any nation or unit you may desire. and if we dont have what you want, its quite easy to mod and create for yourself what you want

  14. i hope you'll excuse us for wondering, given the forum on this site has been cleared out, and its been a significant amount of time since the last updates we do understand that life happens. but even an update to say "life is happening, projects on the shelf for a moment" is appreciated by those that follow
  15. looks good to me meanwhile, going vertical over the numbers
  16. im noticing that alot of the shots seem rapid fire, like youre either using some rapid fire app to snap a dozen pics at once or tapping prtscn multipe times at once i wonder if it could be related (no ive never had this issue, even in the heavier installs)
  17. as for F-89 work, i wish you a great amount of luck you gotta figure the ones that trully know are either niche super fans of the aircraft or crewed it and are now in their 70s or 80s.

View File Viper Dawn : First USAF F-16A Block 10s (for TW F-16A) Viper Dawn : First USAF F-16A Block 10s (for TW F-16A) This mod utilizes the stock TW F-16A Netz and previous work to represent the first three operational USAF F-16A wings (not the training wings). Featuring historical serial numbers for each unit, and markings to reflect the eras this is the most accurate skin representation of the early block (1/5/10) F-16s to date. I use the same TW model for all three as the biggest visible difference in the three was the black radome on the Block 1s. I represented this via decal for the appropriate serial numbers and they were all delivered to the 388th TFW in in 1979. Otherwise it would be impossible to distiguish between teh three models in game. Included - 2 363rd TFW skins for the 17th TFS "Owls" and 19th TFS "Gamecocks". Note the 17th would go on to rename as the Hooters after they transitioned to the C/D model F-16 - 4 388th TFW skins, represented these units in operation from the first USAF Vipers in 1979 until their transition to Block 15s in 1983 - 12 474th TFW skins. The 474th operated the Block 10 from late 1980 until the wing was disbanded in late 1989. These dozen skins reflect some of teh marking changes for the three squadrons over nearly a decade of service - weapons in use by the early Vipers in the early 1980s, with some ini tweaks by myself Required valid copy of Strike Fighters 2: Israel Instructions unzip, unload contents of "2 Mod folder" into mod folder of your choice. allow overwrites if needed NOTE: there are two previous F-16A Block 10 mods based on the TW model. this mod is based on them, but with improvement. because they leverage the TW model and are image and ini only, i have kept teh basic inis in this release for your convienence. But it was made much easier to create standing on their shoulders ****************NOTE*************** This mod heavily leverages decals that are meant for a Team Viper Block 10 set, and feature decals and number list entries for the B models as well. Due to lack of a TW two seat F-16, these are restricted by ini however, when a Team Viper Block 10 becomes available, the decal set here will be ready to go speeding up release of this skin set for the new models. 20. just a cool shot while prepping the next release
  21. not a mistake its part of 74 Squadron, flying under the alien mothership in the UKs response to their arrival....
  22. sometimes, you gotta do in jpg what's not there in lod.... just a slightly better muzzle for teh A model
  23. the Top Aces ones are about as much as i'll cover for this century. i've got a big kick of Vipers from the onset of USAF service through the Balkans coming up over probably the next year given RL considerations. i've asked somebody to hook me up with a new Block 10, and especialy a new Block 10 B model. but in the interim i also adjusted the decal inis to fit the TW model as well. just no two seaters (the old B Block 10 in the gen 1 section is bad enough i wont even touch it) and then we wait. and i move on to Shaw Block 15s.....
  24. i suppose i really should have the markings available in TW Viper as well
