LOD Viewer
daddyairplanes replied to mue's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I like the update, but curious, should the ability to spin the model in window be gone? And if so how does one view left side of an item or bottom? -
Blender for Dummies?
daddyairplanes replied to Nyghtfall's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
FastCargo had a thread about doing just that, and said Blender to Max 2009 was the least wonky to do. You sir appear to be the first to try the great experiment. Good luck and please keep us up on progress. I might join you and try making the generic airport terminal i've been wanting awhile now -

Getting sqd, unit and name to show
daddyairplanes replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Is that 353d TFS showing up twice? Iirc it is a stock unit as well and if working should be there twice now In your level 1 decals, did you number the decal itself with the number of the selected unit (ie SqTail483) ? Is your nationlist ini updated for the AGRS nation? Sorry if you've covered these, but its just a few observations reading last couple posts -
Getting sqd, unit and name to show
daddyairplanes replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
IIRC, hgbn had a method for this, but instead of shrinking the decal, you name it something not in the decal folder and assigned to the level you need to show. Didnt even have to be on the part as it wouldnt have anything. this is the decal ini entry from the thread, just cant remember what thread it was exactly. used it myself to get Dhimari squadrons in game, tho for heavies i just leave the unit as airlines or Air Mobility Command. as was from the thread [DecalXXX] MeshName=flap_inner_left DecalLevel=1 DecalFacing=TOP FilenameFormat= Position=0.0,0.0 Rotation=0.0 Scale=0.0 DecalMaxLOD=3 -

I ask again, what ever came of FC s workaround of building in Blender, then exporting the obj file to max2009? I have it and max 15, but went to find a copy of max2009 and cant even find it to buy anymore, not to mention working in a free program is easier for most than droppin 900 bucks.... Just sayin, if we can find somecwork around on tgat or tweek the exporter to import newer version of max the talent pool might just go up -
Gotta love the Hog in it tho........

How Many Aircraft Are Assigned To......
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
What era? Land based units ere typically closerto 24 aircraft in 70s and 80s, while closer to 18 90s and later. Point of interest, the OV-10 was tested to take off from the Tarawa's, could land w/o a hook. But not used operationally. -

Single skins
daddyairplanes replied to russouk2004's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
only in the dropdowns afaik......... if you make the markings as tga you could tie it into level 2 the serials and have the rest be regular. but skins stay the same i do believe w/o changeing in hte menu. -
WIP Mega THREAD!
daddyairplanes replied to ErikGen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Whatever you please, although 80s to 90s would be the wish. Its also why i said a generic one for Dhimar as well, any of them esp RL ones will be big. Just think it would be cool if we could set it up where flights taking off could look over and see multiple airlines parked on something othrr than the transient ramp. And if you havent seen my mods of late, esp the DC-10, i can get multiple airlines in. Just gotta get the 767 and 747 worked up for variety although the game would only park one type at a time.... -

If the request lines aee open, a dual airport/airfield facility would be nice. Rhein Main/ Frankfurt for real life, or a generic for the Desert terrain. I would be happy to help populate the commercial fates of course! -
Congrats, and welcome to the thunderdome! (i also have 3 girls).

When? same timeline as the Meteor + 30 days....... Why:originally developed as an alternate arrangement to allow grass field operation. Found to have somewhat better handling in event of one engine going out.. Who: Gloster derrrrr....................... Official Designation: Origninally the Meteor Mk. IB, a spectacular engine flameout on takeoff during a demo prompted Air Marshall Hill to declare it the Fireball Mk I, esp as the aircraft managed to continue with the demo and destroy 4 captured German Panzers with accurate gun and rocket fire. Unofficial name: Really? with 4 Adens going off at once? still Fireball chaps......
