Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
been thinking the same streakeagle working on these last night. i figure the decals are fair game as always (thank goodness cause my VF-202 tail is a bit off on the angles), the Ferris, Heater Ferris, TPS and LoViz Grey need modification to paint the antennea, traffic lights and some other minor details. the skins such as Blue Angels i'm leaving alone though after lo-viz'ing the tails and adding carrier names i'm thinking VX-4 could be changed up to make a Black Mike (display FGR2 for RAF 111 Sqn their last year in Phantoms). got frago to run a family friend to a funeral late last night so will post pics from work tonight after getting back. posting this mssg on wifes Acer as i finish re-setting it up. and slarti, i can call you Eddie and Eddie when you call me you can call me Al. -
Rogersmith, depends on your college major. i'm using GI Bill and Pell Grant. getting a tablet with my next Pell check in Sept. but it's a computer oriented course. exhausted, good luck with the website.

all natural or modded Malibu? and i know how to use the catextractor Wrench. this is just my first DLC and i misread something earlier in the thread. already all extracted and workin the ini dance. N works nicely with it but the J skins will hafta be edited abit for the S due to slimers. big ugly black rectangles! -

i just got 3DS for school a bit ago but don't have time to putz with it to learn with other projects nor will i start class on it till January. however if someone wants to mentor on it i would be willing to take a stab at Sk 60. think i know the likely answer but just throwin that out there....- 2 replies

Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
whats this about cant extract files from DLC? sheer laziness in the decal.ini dance is the main reason i want this....... and Soulfreak i mentioned this about S awhile back. in one of the few replies i've gotten from TK he says it would take too much for him to change up the cockpit for an S model. only thing i dont like about our in house N and S is the lack of DECM on the N (correctable via fake pilot) and the lack of slotted stab. not a cockpit guru so cant make a stab at correcting them but it would seem its a matter of add ons and screen for the AWG-10 in the S, not a complete redesign. -

so not compatable with the skin in the Gen1 release? if it will be i'd go ahead and blank the units off the 80's era skin, and whip up a few decals. -

Next DLC: F-4 Skin Pack
daddyairplanes replied to mynameismatt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
@ Wrench been on the LoViz since beginning of the year, just gone slower since starting school @ aurthur666: no Ferris for B/N models, just a select few J and S units. @ others about skinpacks: really good skins like Sundowners for the USAF Phantoms are not rivalled even by DLC. however in the case of naval Rhinos not much is available in the variety of units and they are better represented by decals on a generic skin that unit specific skins anyhow. i'll drop my 3 bucks now that i know it's coming out of inherent human laziness so i have the decal ini's to place some items. -

Strike Fighters : Android Edition
daddyairplanes replied to SkateZilla's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! you wouldn't dare! i agree with you about modding it Stary. esp. cool that i'm going to school for just such things now and have realized tablet games would likely be the next big money maker. not the most fun for a flight simmer mind you, but the money maker with other folks. be prepared for many insipid shots in October when i get a tablet with my excess school money! -

a very good basis for late 60s-early 70s. and yet there is soooo much more. much thanks to mytai though for the bln.tga that decals radomes! edit: ok i will buy it if nothing else for the decal.ini on the VF-51 bird. units with 4-digit nums on the tail have been irritating me and i haven't gotten round to placing the tgas for it yet. course watch that will be the time decal.inis become locked!!!!! otherwise, vive le laziness -
SF2 Realism Mod
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
not yourself HR, i'm talkin anyone else reading this thread. leave it entirely up to me to research and it will be very Euro centric. but if anyone is willing to list me some units (not already in game) from the vietnam war and middle eastern theatre, then i would be willing to incorporate them. reminds me, gotta look up some Egyptian units. Phantoms and Falcons in the 80s afterall! -
SF2 Realism Mod
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
sounds good, the post 1000 could possibly help campaigners and many folks prefer skiining the markings on that decalling. However, i will again call out to the Vietnam and Isreal buffs out there for some advice on units. focusing on stock aircraft but i could likely fill most of the space USAF/NATO. wrapping up that prob tomm night then moving on to RAF and the Luftwaffe. i'm willing to plug em in but my area of interest/expertise is Europe so it is what i naturally gravitate to. -
July Update is Released : Discuss
daddyairplanes replied to SkateZilla's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
if you were smart, he cant lock out too much as you can always go back to an old patch and stay there with 3rd party add ons. stuff you like, without as much of the headache. but no, it shouldn't be like that. -
Blog: If war is the question... what is the answer?
daddyairplanes replied to KiwiBiggles's topic in The Pub
Jedi, if i remember right Reagan mused near the end of the cold war that it would take something like an alien invasion to actually make everyone in the world band together. even then, if you think about it, it's for the purpose of fighting something else! -

Blues and Vandy are nice but what about later year schemes and carrier names? will continue on my own skinpack thank you. (although slowly with a probable release date of 2 days before TK's) -
Blog: If war is the question... what is the answer?
daddyairplanes replied to KiwiBiggles's topic in The Pub
well if we can have Snoopy on his doghouse in SF1 and 2 then why not the Care Bear B52 stare? back on topic i'll throw out a movie quote from T2 when John Connor asks the Terminator if the human race is gonna make it. "No," he replies. "It's in your nature to destroy yourselves." yea we're be nice and enlightened now. but war and disease have been what keep the human population down over the years given there are no predators to do it for us. with winding both down the population will spool up until the BIG bug and/or war come along and knock the human race into the next dark age. not a fan of war mind you (actually quite sick of it after 4 rounds of being target practice for the muslim artillery corps) but it the grand scheme of human affairs it has had it uses. thats not even going into how it spurs human development along( look at the advances going on in brain injury studies right now courtesy of IEDs). sorry going back to my morning coffee now and lose some of this cheery optimism.
