SF2 Realism Mod
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
damn but i agree with the Army bit. typically AVN Bn's dont have specific markings just UNITED STATES ARMY on the tails. woulda been nice though..... could possibly be useful as a tool for campaigns goin over 1000 but will rethink the utility of it overall. BTW offtopic anyone heard from Dave lately? this was kinda his pot of grits to start with before we all got in and stirring. -
SF2 MirageIIIO DLC released
daddyairplanes replied to logan4's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
well since he has the original files i think he would have the easiest time of adjusting them. Jedimaster, you need to go to Texas, wave your hand and say " i do have the time and money to fix this...." -

I'm partial to HP/Compaq my self and if your not looking top end they are fairly inexpensive esp. Presario. but they still allow you to work the game fairly well(with exception of NA possibly, got my new one just before it came out) how fancy do you want it is the big first question? and are you looking to buy in a store or online? -

again also what about the training? USAF tactics since the heyday of the Eagle have been to kill em off at a distance. in the 80's right after Vietnam much attn was paid to dogfighting but every Eagle pilot would tell you his first choice was to hit the Migs way out there and NOT get in the phonebooth. i think most other western AF's expect to get up close before realizing that they'll have to go weapons hot and so train more for close in ACM. full on hostile encounter, i can't help but think that thrust vectoring will give the Raptor an edge if the pilot can stay awwake and keep his/her head. my bigger concern would be with the limited numbers, seeing an adversary with red stars on their wings throw a few squadrons of say Floggers up to catch the Amraam's then, sneak Flankers in after the missles are depleted. Either some Raptors will go down, or be forced to disengage causing the USAF to give up local air superiorety for the first time in decades........ but hey 187 is a fine enough number for DOD. -

framerates definately better. was rocking 3-6 fps overland in iceland now seeing 13-15 fps. about like my old Compaq i got rid of in February. thats at altitude, ACM. bout the same for low level strike against heavily defended airfield in Germany. overall after a few hops in my Phavorite plane not noticing any issues. -

SF2 Realism Mod
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
real life as always is crunching me for time so go for it. i have a Sentry skins mod out there, all 5 ACS's and Nato's birds. now they can be represented a bit better in other mods than just the 552d skin that's standard round here. if you want, pull the decal off the skins. might be quicker. -

also might want to check that its level 2. not trying to be insulting, after 10 weeks being reintroduced to college math i'm just saying it can be easy to miss the obvious sometimes..... -

update on squadronlist.ini..... place held upto 1000 then added a unit. it does in fact work. this opens alot of possibilities for units and i think could be handy for standardizing for decal usage/ campaigns. will be working units uptil i go back to school on the 16th, then release what i have. anyone else want to add red air into the mix i'd love to talk with ya. here's the updated ini and who can tell me what unit i added for #1000? -

finally have my squadronlist.ini updated to where i don't have to rename my Phantom decals again. unless TK added all red air units as player flyable. also being chickenhawk and waiting to see who's first to get bit in the a** by this.... wow they let me say a** on here, had to self edit. George Carlin a moderator now? -

SF2 Realism Mod
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
very true that many have wanted a red side, i wouldn't mind it my self. but it would take much longer i think at least for folks in the Nato side of the world to research and add the units, esp. proper basing for campaigns. anyone with more info that lived on the WARPAC side during the cold war could possibly research easier. i know i've had fun just looking up what the Sov's flew during the Berlin Airlift. very true that many have wanted a red side, i wouldn't mind it my self. but it would take much longer i think at least for folks in the Nato side of the world to research and add the units, esp. proper basing for campaigns. anyone with more info that lived on the WARPAC side during the cold war could possibly research easier. i know i've had fun just looking up what the Sov's flew during the Berlin Airlift. not impossible mind you, just harder than the western side...... -

Things that annoy me greatly....
daddyairplanes replied to Wrench's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
well Wrench that would be another part of the Realism mod. most of us do have the older files from before things got locked. use those as templates for things such as rwr, nationranks, etc. it may have to be like that til he locks (game).exe -
Fast Movers Are Cool But...
daddyairplanes replied to Skyviper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
main way for SF2 would be a bunch of recon mission and drop your troops/cargo enroute. but you would only get credit for the recon portion, that is getting there and home without being shot down. -
Adjusting conflict date
daddyairplanes replied to Lazarus1177's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
so how do i change the dates in game? seriously tho lazaraus get used to finding that line to edit. have to fix it after every patch. its just as easy to change the new options.ini for those two dates as it is to bring your old one and adjust for version. -
ok i will be in the market for a tablet in the next couple of months. esp waiting to see how the Microsoft Surface actually works when it comes to be. the primary question is has anyone tried working photoshopping( like Gimp) software on a tablet? this is NOT the primary reason i will get it but since i will have it and 450 ebooks (Osprey and Squadron Signal type books)why not try to run it? would be interesting if i could work skins and decals on the tablet then crossload to my laptop to run in game. interested to hear your thoughts on the matter. as a (partial) joke it could also put me a leg up modding for Angry Strike Fighters!
