June patch available!
daddyairplanes replied to Murphy'S's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
geez -
both the largest and BLOODIEST campaigns ever. the ancients had the numbers but not the technology and while those in WWI had the beginnings of the tech, it was not as refined in form or use as by these two juggernauts. Thank God the world will not see the likes of this again.

Skinning in SF2
daddyairplanes replied to Stingray72's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
no problemo glad to help. just always double check folder names/ filepaths vs whats in your ini's. i'd say that will be 3/4 of any probs you have in Gen2 with skins/decals. -

Skinning in SF2
daddyairplanes replied to Stingray72's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
any mods go into (ahem) {user)/SavedGames/ThirdWire/StrikeFighters2Europe/Objects/Aircraft/{yourplane}/{yourskin} the decals need to go into a similar folder but decals instead of aircraft. also no need to update the {your aircraft} ini as far as the textures unless you want a certain skin to be the primary. then you merely plug that in as textureset001. also do make sure all skins names match up in all ini's or you will be seeing a white aircraft til you find the mismatch. ESPESCIALLY the same for your decals and folders! -

Contents of object cat files
daddyairplanes replied to Soulfreak's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
do you have the patch? if so the new TW cat extractor allows you to got thru an preview the catalog (catobject 1, 3,4 etc) and pull the specific file you need or pull the whole file if you wish. there are around 18 readable catalogs now with 2 inaccesable and a couple not there now (like the old object 5 used to be) -

daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
eburger, could you guys use any help ini editing for the newest patch? stuff like the new stock units(upto 367 now) and swapping unit ID's i should be able to do easy and let you guys tackle the bigger things like getting the terrian adjusted. i've already sent Dave a comparison on the new stock squadronlist vs NF4+'s latest. -

June patch available!
daddyairplanes replied to Murphy'S's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
EricJ for the terrain gurus and fans out there the may and june patches are not so great. locks up quite a bit and doesnt let you fix it from what i understand thought stary could fill in more on htat or you could read the gripe sheet known as the may 2011 thread. framerates have dramatically improved however, many new NATO units and squaadron markings have been added (tho oddly no Denmark) if if it was your wish you had to finish the mission not have your wingman cleanup for you to get credit. it also sets up for online patching when you fire up the game and a future d/l'able content store. the June patch resolved some issues where alot of the decals either disappeared or glowed in game. for me and the others that are more into the aircraft and the terrain is something nice to look at while your going to and from target the patches are pretty good esp for the framerate boost. myself and speakin for myself only i like the new patches but again i am more bout the planes than where they fly. -

i actually had a similar issue with the Mk7 nuke on the F-84F, that also liked to be hidden in the 450gal tanks! could it be something to do with using non stock tanks on stock aircraft with nonstock cockpits? -

i'm sure you've all seen the classic Dreams video wit hthe Blue Angels or some variation. while looking for a particular variation i have on VHS but not digital i came across this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ri-obaBZr9I thought you all might like it. as for that version of Van Halen Dreams it features USMC Hornets in action (PAO shots not operator filmed) immediately followed by a Northrup ad for the F-23 plugged as the NATF. unfortuneatly i cant upload vhs to the internet!

Navy and Isreali decals are back. small consolation to the terrain guys but it has been irksome for some of us. didn't affect too much else from what i saw. first patch in several months that doesn't piss one off on its own accord, just what it doesnt fix from its predecessors it seems -

that might not be too what-iffish there Spinners. what are you guys doing with the Harrier force? -
sadly a prime way to end the threat of terrorism, at least in the current schematic wont be acted on by the west. a Marshall Plan type action would do wonders across the board and in the long term. the terrorist trigger pullers/bomb detonators are coming predominately from the poorer middle eastern nations where the education level is lower and jobs scarcer. the financing for materials and payment (of trigger puller or guy to recruit a fanatic to do it for free) is coming mostly from guys in the richer nations (Saudi, UAE) who have fingers in enough pies that we dont go after them for fear of oil prices going up or another banking downfall. if we were to create some real jobs, not just oppurtunities for contractors to get rich and split, then maybe things settle down. (i think it was GEN Clay in 1948 speaking about Berlin who said something about a choice of democracy on 1000 calories a day or communism on 1500. for folks with kids such scenarios start becoming important) also people tend to remember who helped in life and who screwed em over. while Europeans might have a dim view of American policies right now, how many want to see America fail or Americans die? while stationed in Germany in 2000-2002 i met some Germans who didnt like us and wanted us to leave. Not a one was older than 25. the rest remembered the Berlin airlift or the threat they faced from the Russians and were at least 10+ when the Wall came down. overall i've found that say 98 percent of the world just wants to get on with their lives and have a decent future for themselves and their families. it's the other 2 percent that screw it up for everyone else. @ Teras stay safe and a salute for joinin your army under the circumstances. while we face the possibility of dying far from our home, we dont face the a threat directly against our loved ones.
