U.S. Air Force to Work on First New Bomber Since B-2
daddyairplanes replied to Fates's topic in CombatACE News
I say hell yea. for the requirements in 1991 (straight air dominance/ dogfighting, not a pound for air to ground) the Raptor was the better plane. however the F-23 was always my fav of the two and would have been better suited to serve as a strike fighter as well as interceptor(stand off and club baby seals as the Raptor pilots say). unfortuneately the tooling for it has to be long gone or we could have made a lower cost stealth for ANG, AFRES and allies since Congress doesn't wanna approve the 22 for export or fight to keep production open. as to bomber survivabilty, the BUFF can take a lickin and... you know. hell there was one that lost its tail and made it home! -
Tokyo raid with seplanes?
daddyairplanes replied to macelena's topic in Military and General Aviation
I dont think the PBY's would have been as succesful nor would have captured the imagination like the B-25s off the Hornet did. One thing about the American psyche we love seeing ourselves step up to a challange and come out on top, not just doing what is possible but the seemingly impossible. -
U.S. Air Force to Work on First New Bomber Since B-2
daddyairplanes replied to Fates's topic in CombatACE News
yes and yes:grin: i think the air force keeps the same engines on cause they are already bought and paid for years ago and they have plenty of stock to get spare parts from in the Arizona boneyard. -

daddyairplanes replied to Ice Man's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
either delete the whole section about the co pilot or if you might wantt to reinstate hime later put // in front of the co- pilot header so it looks like // [ CoPilot ] that should get rid of your GIB for you -

question about carriers
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
what carriers are flyable? besides stock CVA-63 and the nimitz that is. i am trying to get some navy action into an install that is more centered around the 50's and early 60's (nlt the cuban missle crisis) and was wondering which ones i could actually fly some vintage navy birds off of. plan to put it into SF2E with some copying of the ini edit that put the Nimitz and LHA into NF4+. is this a pipe dream or are there some usable carriers out there? side note already tried with an Essex class then realized that it wouldn't work think Clancy sent the Backfires thru time and sank the carrier as i always started at Spang! my apologies to the moderators posted in gen1 instead of gen 2 -
question about carriers
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
ooook i tried copying the Oriskany and Ark Royal into the target ini for Germany CE using the lines from the NF4+ carrier add on (the info for the Nimitz and LHA) lemme look again see what i missed -
as of 1338 EST today i am the proud owner of 1 ea DD214 copy 1 and 4, Honorable Discharge effective 28 Oct 2010, installation clearing papers with completion stamp and DA 31 (leave form for you non Army guys out there) good for terminal leave until 28 Oct. I am effectively done with active duty. took a week longer than expected but what's the Army without some sort of SNAFU?

daddyairplanes replied to krgf15's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
tried matching nations with both data_ini? start/stop years? allowed wieght on the Migs' pylons? outside of that i dunno. often have similar issues with many other birds though i am usually trying to keep weapons off rather than get them to show up -
question about carriers
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
at wrench thanks for the move and Thppppppppppppppppppppppt! i mean a carrier that i can fly off of rather than one that automatically sends me to shore in campaign -

i was in germany at the time working on dinner in the dfac. most specifally i was cutting onions when a KP came in and said the 3rd plane hit the pentagon, i went out to the TV in the dining room to see what was going on. after watching for about ten minutes i called my wife to say hurry and get to the dfac. it was in the center of base and the commissary where she was at was at the edge of base. she was there shopping for her birthday cake that i was suposed to bake that night. 9/11/01 was her 25th birthday. still my most vivid memory besides the moment i found out was the next morning when i had to go back to work. i lived off base and we were told not to wear uniforms on our way in, so there i am 0330 in the morning walking upto the base in civilian clothes so as not to "look American" carrying BDU's in a duffel rather than my usual white cooks uniform and at the gate was a massive memorial from the Germans. flowers, candles, and signs for about 2 blocks before you could get to the gate and guards. whole lot has happened in the years since but i remember i remember how our german friends showed their support for us even during days that we were gearing for the response and told to not be visible in the community outside base for our safety. on a final note i never did bake that birthday cake, but my wife didn't care much bout it that year.

this is outstanding tho the things a living recipient would go thru they wouldn't want to talk about it.

going the NF4+ route dont forget to get the effects and weapons you need for that Foxbat. -
well you go NJ! we slept through it here in NC. rain in fayetteville, some scattered lawn furniture on the coast. great deals on vacation pack's too bad i'm in middle of a move this weekend
-
True. though SF2 kinda cuts into my time for that anymore. the person below me can sing every Hannah Montana and Camp Rock song.
-
i don't see why charlotte is gettin so worried. fayetteville is closer to the coast and the most we expect is a lil rain over night. bragg is more concerned with the 4 day weekend gettin ruined by a call for help from the outer banks than anything goin on here. hmmm speakin of better roll up my car windows. (fayettenam hurricane preparation:grin: )

the G Zipper had provisions for fuselage pylons though not all users (esp the Luftwaffe) used them
