a question about LOD files
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
thank you wise and merciful hgbn. it indeed would have helped if the bmp in the F-4D_78 folder said F-4D_78 and not F-4D. and i thought i had to do with lod files. just proves a favorite saying of mine. don't assume. assumption is the mother of all f... ups. thanks alot hgbn -
a question about LOD files
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
itried looking at another aircraft with a LOD (the EF-111) and vista would only atempt to allow photo viewer to open it. and then it said it was unable to. in any event i have no LOD for the 184th skin only bmp's but a quick scan of the F-4G from TMF looks like they dont have it either. what am i missing to get the grey back on this spook? or is it an older file and i've just created a cloud camo scheme -
back at bragg i was the guy who could unlock it with a coat hanger. 20 seconds best record. and they say im a crook for some reason.......

WoV vs WoE
daddyairplanes replied to Oswald Bastable's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
the planes from WOV are from the vietnam era before HUDs and other aids. the avionics should relect that. i'm waiting to get my copy of SF2V in a few more months but the early F-100s F-4's and F-105's don't look nearly as high speed through the gunsight as a F-15, F-16 or Super Hornet. it seems to me a reflection of the tech of the times. -
strange problem with some MF aircraft
daddyairplanes replied to kurfurst's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
@kurfurst you might wanna look in your ini files and see if they are pointing to the correct place to find the lod files. had to do that a month ago to get my mavericks to show up. know roughly how to do it but i think snapper or fubar could put it into words better. if you dont get a response when i am off for the night i'll go through it in my mavvericks again so i can actually elaborate on the process -

strange problem with some MF aircraft
daddyairplanes replied to kurfurst's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
appreciate the tip snapper. EF-4C was the second plane i tried converting and was still figuring out quite a bit. have thought since to take SF2 stock F-4C and files from EF-4C. like the look of everything in gen2 better but alas no multiplayer. -
Has anyone modeled this yet?
daddyairplanes replied to Gr.Viper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
i remember the show showing sketches of that one. that had a couple that weren't that big but big enough to carry ballistic missles in tubes similar to the road mobile ones(ss-20?). russians didn't make em pretty or with fine engineering. but they made em big and durable. -
Great Fun! (EF2000 vs MiG-25PDS)
daddyairplanes replied to SFP1Ace's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
well mig 25 is the only aircraft to score a kill on a American flown fighter aircraft since the end of vietnam. im waiting to see what comes out in NF4+ before i change up 1st gen migs too much. will still prob add more afterward but i dont like duplication of effort. -

i'm interested in the answer myself. went to change over the EF-4C from coulumn 5's site followed the directons in th KB and got the same results in SF2E. did not load it in my WOE though and deleted it of comp since im still learnin stuff trial and error. at time thought it was procedure i had done though it was amusing to watch a flight of sparrows ecm and shrikes in formation. -
"Sorry to hear of your family probs and your 6 months left in country. I've got 8 days, then I'm outta here. Freedom bird to BWI. " well the family stuff is somewhat under control now. she's taking this one harder than kosovo or iraq. as for the 6 months i'm reminded of some air force docs i hung out with in iraq. especially towards the end of their 4th month they kept telling me " gee al you should cross into the blue"

looks and sounds like one of their eurkranoplanes specially designed to use wing in(over?) ground effect to carry heavier load. had program on it on military channel few years ago plus got a magazine article one it. on a waaaay more serious note it is rumored to have achieved a few kills against the VVS. when the fighter pilots got a visual on it they kept laughing so hard at it they flew into the ground -
ok. six more months (knock on wood). but had fam emergency in june so no more r+r to look forward to.

Original WOE on Vista
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
i have WOE and SF2E installed on my laptop. the original install could run without the disk after installing then it required the disk after adding NF1+2. after i added NF3+4 it did not need the disk again. now on my laptop everything is going fine but some of my hooch mate here are getting interested in the game and all three have vista. as far as anyone knows will WOE consistently load on vista w/o needing the disk? i would like to get an in room network going for some multiplayer action btw i would think sharing the older version with folks in my unit should b ok. how ever those that ask about SF2E get directed to the Thirdwire website. think that strikes a balance between the soldiers and tk -

JAS-39C for SF2 fuel related problem
daddyairplanes replied to SFP1Ace's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i do remember reading somewhere that Saab designed th fuel gauge to display in percentages not lbs like most fighters. trying to make the math of how much do i have left easier. as for the AB question.... sporty and gets great MPG? -
is it out on real dvd yet? still will buy haji disc at the next bazaar but they tend to be better quality when the movie is already on dvd than in the theatres still. something about that bobbing camcorder....

Original WOE on Vista
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
ok then. on my old desktop (xp) it always required the disk to run the program. when i got a laptop for the deployment and it had vista no disc needed after it was installed. then back and forth with the NF installs. guess we'll find out what works on their systems and hope for the best(3 other players in the room none needing the disk to run.) i appreiciate your advice. -
Original WOE on Vista
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
it does. i dont have an issue with it running on my laptop. i was wondering if the running w/o disk was a fluke to my system or if it should work that way on any vista machine. -
we have a new safety poster here saying not to go jogging on the runway finishes with don't become a hood ornament for a C-5 in my experience the safety folks don't have to imagine these problems they post about things that have happened....

quit drinking(in Germany of all places!) 10 years ago. long family history behind it. however i do miss having a liter of Maiselweiss at the volksfest on base every year. still have the steins from each one. not a bad souvenier for 8 mark deposit.
