  1. if your talkin a totally seperate drive connected by USB wire, that might not be the best solution. not impossible by any means, just not best. if your talking seperate ssd within your system, it shouldnt be any issue at all. but yeah, follow ericj's link, i do that any time i make a new install...

  6. dont rush, slow is fast. or as my grandfather used to say "its faster to do it right the first time than to half ass it 2 or 3 times" (his quote, not sayin you half assed anything) get you a few folks willing to check things out privately, to try to catch any goof ups before release (skins dont show, campaign ends after one mission, ground objects dont shoot etc). not everything will be caught, but its less egg on face to fix one or two things post release than a dozen. plus again, campaigns are big mods, so more chance for errors not trying to scare you, its great to have someone new modding. just trying to give a few pointers i think might help
  7. if you plan to release this as an official mod, start taking your notes now on who helped or created things that are needed for it (like if you use another terrain or non staock aircraft and weapons) the larger the mod, the harder it becomes to keep track of who did what, and proper credit for stuff you didnt do is one of the rules on posting a mod dont worry about in this thread, its more of a community critique than an official mod upload. just pointing out for if you do make an official mod section upload ok, read things outta order, so didnt see that it was a link to a download when i posted. if you package the whole thing togheter, then follow my advice above. packaging together is more likely to get played, as it wont require as much effort by the end user
  8. now we just need some AT ATs, and those little land speeder deals or we could make it interesting

  10. take your time. the most likely fix will be to create your own skin. it takes longer than a night 99.9% of the time
  11. how deep down the rabbit hole are you going? will you make it all the way to the A-6E and its later versions? or even the cancelled A-6F?
  12. no worries, its not something readily apparent. the skin doesnt name exactly what aircraft it matches up (ie stock F-4 or Spectres A-10 etc) some first gen skins can go to the second gen. but a large majority of the ones worth it have been done, and most second gen skins are way better than the first gen anyhow (larger sized, allows more detail)
  13. ok on a 30 second cursory glance youre trying to add a 1st Generation skin to a 2nd Generation aircraft with a completely different model. youre trying to fit a size 9 round peg into a size 2 star shaped hole. i would take this oppurtunity to say this could be your start on creating skins of your own.......
  14. nothing too complex today, just some Hogs that moved in to Knob Noster from Dickie Goober.....
  15. ^ ^ ^ "but i wanna use mine......." i know that song too
  16. AB sim (Air Base sim)

looking it over, your proposal is too expansive. not being rude, seriously "everything, everyone, everywhere, everywhen" is a hello of a lot to bite off for a major studio. let alone a small team or individual pick a focus. if your aim is to get rich quick, focus on the most popular think. if your aim is to do something you enjoy, and want to share, then pic your absolute favorite. that goes for air arm, period and aircraft. then start on that focus, be it say French Mirage bases of the 1970s or SAC bases in the 1980s, or F-35 bases of today. finally, do you want a flying sim or a ground activities sim? back to the focus. a maintainer sim could be interesting (fix the planes, arm them, send them on their way). a flight sim, while a dime a dozen could be good if it offers something new or interesting. combining both..... see that second sentence i wrote and yes, i would be interested to have a sim to work the ground side and watch the local traffic in the pattern. just look at half of my posts in the SF2 screenshot thread
