the important stuff is always simple. the simple stuff is alway hard - some NCO from many moons ago not to mention very few people went to hit the books hard in the past when it came to serials, not to mention the books didnt have as much info tens years ago as they do now. some topics, theyre still kinda sketchy. but ya know i feel that pain -

Echoes Across the States: KC-135E Stratotanker's First 15 Years This skinpack is a remod of the TMF KC-135E done years ago. While utilizing the same model, it now features a greatly improved texture set, ini performance enhancements and each of the skins is researched to be as accurate as is possible with current knowledge. Included * two KC-135E versions, (82) and (92) sixty (yes 60!) skins between the two versions. most Shamu based skins also feature nose arts Cockpit and ini edits to make player flyable drogue "weapon", addable in the loadout screens Required a legal functioning install of any SF2 version Installation unzip this mod, then install new mod folder categories to your mod folder (Aircraft to aircraft etc) allow overwrites fire up game, take off and go pass gas Known Issues -This is meant as eye candy. unfortunately, SF2 doesnt support air to air refueling so the best to be done is set up a recon mission and then park it in an orbit. - Also, the C-130 cockpit is not too accurate. it is included mainly so that it can be player selected (i had to test it somehow). remember that there is no air to air refueling in game, so these are more eye candy than operational birds - dont manuever aggressively. aggressive manuvering will cause a deep stall. its a huge pain to recover from as a player (firewall the throttle, set flaps to landing, yank stick back and hold). any AI wingmen wont make it trying to follow you *Wagner CD not included Credits BPAO (Olivier Anguille, RIP) - original model Dave- head of original released original project Dels- C-130 cockpit guruu- E8engine sound for the TF33s yakarov79- drogue basket model, original skin templates PeacePuma- research assist, tga work on FACH skin Menrva- data ini edits(mainly collision boxes) Wrench- tech advice, approval master extrodinaire daddyairplanes- research, ini edits, texture and tga work, new additions to templates TK- the overall game in all its modability ************************************************************* This is freeware; it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by myself. DA's TOTALLY TERRIFIC THREAD OF STICKERIFFIC IMPROVEMENTIFICATIONS. and stuff

one of my tricks is a small library of metal "pics" from google. from that base, i play around; overlay to change metal type, stretch or shrink and dirtying it up. cut parts of existing layers and change up opacities. the end results have been cool lately. the journey can be...... interesting -

DAT F3D having very bad textures
daddyairplanes replied to macmacmacmoc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
would be cool if you did mate we have a small section in the downloads for stuff that is DAT based. all with the provisional warning that you have to have the model (lod) from DAT and that theres no support here for the DAT items themselves -
DAT F3D having very bad textures
daddyairplanes replied to macmacmacmoc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
^ what he said looks very much like a settings thing to me, although the textures are also probably smaller being older (512 vs the current usual 2048 or 4096 even). basing that off the premise that the insigina is on the skin and not a decal if you really like the Skynights, then why not make it a first step into making your own? -
SU 57 and SU 34 Aircraft
daddyairplanes replied to jodandawg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
im sorry but the wing span is a little big for the Viper version, and clearly that model should be using GE not PW engines. although thats an easy fix in the texture side of things -

daddyairplanes replied to jodandawg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i've been pretty lucky in that aspect. i do get alot of "would you consider" on skins and collaborations. lets say the one or two i've encountered that didnt take a clue if i said no, were jerks enough in other aspects to get an Erik ban hammer thrown. but 99.9% for me a simple "not interested, sorry" suffices for me -

the targets the ICBMs dont get to like the B-2 before it, its primary purpose is to be the manned component of the US nuclear triad. the only part that can be recalled if need be, or be retargeted or just search for targets if needed as for anyone else, we'll see since nobody here is a fortune teller. if you told me in Jan 2000 that the US would be fighting a counter insurgency in Afghanistan for 20 years I'd have said you were nuts just like everyone else at teh time i would have figured to be spending the rest of my military career doing peacekeeping just like i was in Kosovo at the time, didnt know there'd be a trip to Iraq and a couple Afghanistans coming up.... ------------ so who are we going to bomb with it? hopefully nobody. but somebody will probably get bombs delivered from one, especially if they have more than MANPADS guarding their skies. its not to expensive, it'll get used to show that it was "worth the money" much more hopefully we dont see it used for its primary purpose, although depending on where one lives we might not see that anyhow......
-
lets hope the primary war its being designed to fight never happens the secondary tasks will come though, especially with mentions of things like sigint and battlefield nodes and the B-2 has done alright over the last 30 years, including over Serbia (NOT a permissive air defense environment). the 117 got benched because 1) oppents had intel on it from the one shot down and 2) newer systems were coming online. off course, esp. for a military aircraft, its had a very active retirement.......

Air Force Thinking About an F-7 Light Fighter...
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in The Pub
overpowered for COIN. or in otherwords, perfect for the USAF mindset it would still be cheaper to use in that role than F-35 for sure and probably even F-16. and be the "similar capability" to the A-10 that Congress mandated, all except for the gun. thats the main reasons the USAF is thinking about a fighter version (especially that last one sadly) I agree it would be a good entry to the light fighter market, IF the USAF buys some for that purpose. its not the 60s and i dont think other countries will buy it if the US doesnt (like the F-20)
