23d Wing Pope AFB 1994
daddyairplanes replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Updated version posted. decided that Spectre8750s A-10A_93 model better represented a LASTE upgrade than TWs model did. on further research, also determined that several serials that were listed for the A-10 before were not actually there. Updated serials as well as creating a skin for the two airframes that were still Euro 1 camo. also added sounds, effects and weapons to make the A-10A_93 work better, and updated the A-10A_78 to match if you downloaded this mod in 2022, just download the LASTE update. if you havent downloaded this mod before feel free to download the 31122022 version (full mod) -
23d Wing Pope AFB 1994
daddyairplanes posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
View File 23d Wing Pope AFB 1994 23d Wing Pope AFB 1994 In the 1990s, the USAF experimented with composite wings that would have everything needed within a single unit for deployment into a regional fight. The 23 Wing was formed in 1992 to bring about this vision, as applied to direct support of US Army forces. By 1994, 4 squadrons were ready at Pope AFB NC to support the US Army's 82d ABN DIV at neighboring Fort Bragg. The 2d and 41st Airlift Squadrons flying the C-130E Hercules, the 74th Fighter Squadron flying the F-16C/D Block 40 Vipers, and the 75th Fighter Squadron flying the A-10A Warthog. As is tradition for the 23d Wing, which traces its lineage to the Flying Tigers of World War 2, every aircraft in the wing sported a sharks mouth. This mod brings together everything needed to get the 23d Wing into the fight. Complete aircraft (including a newly revamped F-16D Block 40 from ravenclaw007), period specific weapons, sounds and effects. Included Viper Team F-16C Block 40 and 75th FS skin ravenclaw007/Viper Team F-16D Block 40 and 75th FS skin Dels C-130E_SKE with 2d ALS, 41st ALS Grey and 23d Wing Euro 1 skins Various period specific weapons (actively in use 1994-1996) Installation unzip folder * drop into mod folder of your choice * allow overwrites Known Issues The C-130 and its weapons are primarlily eye candy. There are unfortuneatly no paratroop drop missions in SF2, and so if you want to drop say 1/325 INF onto a drop zone, you will need to select a recon mission and punch those partarooper out by hand I have been having issues getting the LAPES Sheridan tank to create a "crater" after dropping. it is still included for the visuals of puching a tank out the back of a Herk, and because there was still an Airborne Armor Bn at Bragg in 1994. But at this time the tank will disappear on contact with the ground Credits Viper Team all F-16 models included ravenclaw_007 tweeked F-16D model and templates (C and D) Dels C-130E_SKE model killerbee331 original weapons pack that many armaments are drawn from here malibu43 2_LAU-88 mod to carry 4 Maverick rather than 6 XRAY base skin for 75th FS 94 yakarov79 LAPES M551 Sheridan and tech support with said tank daddyairplanes skins, tga work, much research, various ini edits, new TW inspired loading screens test team NightshadeP/R, allenjb42 and special thanks to William Godwin (callsign Radio), 23d Wing Historian at Moody AFB I hope you enjoy this mod. After 12 years total at Ft Bragg (all but 4 of them seeing the Hogs overhead near everyday) this one was a bit more personal than some other mods daddyairplanes aka Kevin Unruh 4 July 2022 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX UPDATE 31 DEC 20220 XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX After further research on other Hog units, and closer examination of the TW model, i have included Spectre8750's A-10A_93 model with updated numbers list. I also changed several serials after determining that they were at other bases in 1995. The deduction I used to find the C-130 serials didnt work as well for the Hogs. But it is fixed and I even discovered two Tiger Shark Hogs that were still in Euro 1 camoflage at the time. The A-10A_93 features two skins for the bulk of the gray birds and the two green ones. ************************************************************* This is freeware; it CANNOT be distributed unless permissions are granted by myself. The Last CAstles: The B-52G at Castle AFB 1992-94 This mod creates a B-52G_92 to represent the last 24 G models in service from mid 1992 through early 1994 at Castle AFB. The mod has two skins for the 93rd Bomb Wing and the 34th Bomb Squadron. The 34th BS was a remote based part of the 366th Wing at the time. Included: B-52G_92 aircraft that is based off of my previous update to the B-52G_89. Two skins to showcase the two units. Weapons, effects and sounds from the previous mod are included. Historical Notes: While the aircraft as a whole is capable of carrying AGM-142 cruise missiles, only the 8 aircraft of the 34th BS were actually configured to carry these. Installation:unzip. put all folders into desired mod folder. Allow overwrites as needed. Contributors -original B-52 Mega Era Pack: original project lead Dave, original model by wpnssgt, original cockpit by Dels -yakarov79: ini edit assistance (weapons grouping) -KJakker: data.ini edit assistance, revisions to cockpit, countermeasure strength, revised weapons -daddyairplanes: ini edits, weapons ini edits to boost numbers available in game, adjustment of effects to simulate water injection on takeoff. ini edits to create B-52G_92 aircraft with specific data ini edits, and edit to original Popeye data link pod for carriage on the BUFF -Third Wire: for the original game I hope you enjoy this mod. P-51 Mustang
daddyairplanes replied to amariani's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
i dont know the layout on the Mustang, but on brief look, you may want to put two decals on the nose: one with the lines and details, and one with the colors (looking at the yellow and teh OD green) then, your details can be one tga thats huge, and the color set can be smaller underneath the detail tga. place the details tga in a common folder, and you only need it in there once. develop them same sizes , then just scale the final product down on the nose color one. place the detail one last in the decal ini, so it shows on top of the others. but thats damn sharp for a decal all the same -

if you dont have a lot of detailing to them (basic shapes) then you can resize when done to a more manageable 512 or even 256 if theres nothing but shapes when you keep alot of details or lettering in a tga, then its better to keep the size as big as 1000. maybe reduce to 768 (the midway of 1024 and 512). depends on detail and results from the first few attempts at shrinking. but the suggestions out there even if you dont weather the birds, to drop the file sizes down -

looks good doing the big parts as tga, are you thinking of doing weathering on them as well? set up about six to ten variations, then repeat and disperse throughout the whole series -
About these USA Precision Guided Air-to-Surface Weapons for Ukraine?
daddyairplanes replied to Arrow's topic in The Pub
dont think theyre talking Mavericks, they have mostly been talking JDAM. only recently hearing about mounting them on fighters, a few weeks ago they were talking about mounting SDBs as warheads on the HiMARs rockets. Boeing has been working on this for some time and its supposedly able to go into service next year https://www.reuters.com/business/aerospace-defense/100-mile-strike-weapon-weighed-ukraine-arms-makers-wrestle-with-demand-sources-2022-11-28/ -

Some weapons aren't showing up
daddyairplanes replied to thejackie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
i will confirm, alot of the weapons from the ODS30AE are tweeked to work specifically with certain aircraft and even certain pylons (well, weapon stations to be specific). for general advice i will say this is the time to learn to compare entries and how things work. i wont give specific advice on any of it because there's a hell of alot. the head honcho for 30AE will probably tell you not to f*** with it as its worked on by a team to be as good as possible. while that is true, modders are tinkerers. pull s*** apart and put it back together again. learn how to do so and make it work. the experts even know how to hide the extra parts i wont tell you not to pull ODS30AE apart, might as well tell a tide to stay out. but i will say that assitance on specifics might be sparse. use the knowledge base, go through the old forum threads. there is alot of info in there that will help you -
Edge, like its predecessor, is the best browser to get another browser! but i agree with bazillius, and prefer to use firefox for most things. only using chrome on my school laptop because the school site works better with it finally, extra points to other Kevin for using the ancient computer of Theseus
