very lucky indeed. i ordered 15 volumes of WAPJ when i got my tax return last month for $55 and he covered the shipping. seemed a really great deal.... until i got them and every last one had pictures cut out of them! to his credit, the seller was legitimately shocked to hear it was like that. he was clearing out something like 20 boxes of books that were his dads. when shown pics of how they were he gave me a full refund no fuss. it just doubly suxked because he originally had it posted as alomst the whole collection, but i already had the first half. he was very workable and agreed easily to sell the 15 out of 30 volumes i wanted. so right now its back to pairs at a time

of course, all that work on the German Bugs, and they go and change their minds on you still good for a what if tho -
nice collections Sundowner, have you had the WAPJ* volumes since they each came out wayback when? im currently working on building up my collection on those, and about halfway through otherwise, ive had to go more to digital due to moves, kids, and other hardships. most of what i have still is either had since childhood, gifts from folks now gone or a few new additions. edit* World Air Power Journal, the blue issues

Question A-6E bombs loadout
daddyairplanes replied to Svetlin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
possibly part of it. i imagine a bigger reason the BUFFs got the 117s and the faster jets got the bigger mk 80 series was the B-52 could carry alot of bombs, anything with an F in front not so much. so the fighters got hte bigger bombs (mk 83, 84) to max out the tonnage in the limited weps stations curious about dimensions of the british 1000 lb bombs, as BUFFs carried them two or three missions out of Diego Garcia. cant recall at the moment if they were internal or external either though -
Erik, that "frilly GUI" is one of the reasons im waiting to change (and debating doing so at all). my daughter updated her Surface, and when i went to do something on it a few weeks back, was definetly giving it weird looks and wondering where stuff was. can i deduce from your post that the general appearance/layout can be reverted back to something more familiar? i didnt mess with my kids system for more than 5 mins, and it was hers so wasnt gonna change stuff up thanks Muesli and Silberpfiel for your input too. and that Coastie bird looks good

best as i can tell the straight nuclear bombers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taktisches_Luftwaffengeschwader_33 the Growlers get interesting, as wiki says these guys are primarily recon, but have operted the SEAD Tornado ECRs since 2013 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taktisches_Luftwaffengeschwader_51 my guess is that they move to a primary SEAD role, since recce is handle by drone more and more -

Nvidia graphics drivers for windows 10 and SF2
daddyairplanes replied to Icarus999's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
since hearing about the Nvidia issues (like a decade ago) ive gotten a 670 card in a 2012 laptop, 1070 card in 2015 laptop and 3060 in a desktop built last year. no issues whatsoever. im more worried after a microsoft update than a nvidia update (tho i run a test run on the game all the same when i know either updated) if youre shopping for a system someone else builds (rather than assemble yourself) look up xidax. pricey but worth the money. that 2015 and last years system are both from them, and even the '15 rig still makes this system im typing this post on feel slow (i7-9750H, 16 gb ram, 1660ti card ) -

Su-57
daddyairplanes replied to WH357's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
you know, theres four levels of skins out there simple, 1 to 4 jpgs, well mapped and sometime even with a template. super simple, no template. slightly off mapping but can be worked with not so simple, oddly mapped, makes you wonder what teh modder was smoking. often with overlaps that make life hard damn difficult, jumbled together, anywhere between 1 and 12 jpgs. parts all over. often photorealistic. often seems pulled from a FSX model. makes you wonder what the hell you (the viewer) have been smoking the first two are pretty easy to work. the third, can be done if youre interested in the subject. the fourth gets a big can of nope almost everytime -

hell, as long as its a decent skin (not tightly packed or spread across a dozen pieces), someone will likely make a template -
Help with creating custom decals?
daddyairplanes replied to Alect7's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
good catch on Reverse, that may well apply to what hes working on. i usually place it below the Scale line, but me thinks it will work anywhere under the Position line. i also only add it in when its true, it works fine without that line if you dont need it. Front and Back i had left off for now for simplicity, since they are rarer to use. LEFT and RIGHT are for exactly what he asks in this post, but UP and DOWN will likely come along soon enough -
Help with creating custom decals?
daddyairplanes replied to Alect7's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
copied from an old post of mine, but still breaks down the elements of a decal.ini entry [Decal001] MeshName=Fuselage ---------------- actual node it goes on. limit 3 tga per DecalLevel=2 ---------------------------- 4 different levels. O ties to nation, 1 ties to unit, 2 is serialized and unique to each aircraft, 4 is kills iirc. 2 is normally used for serial numbers but can be used for individual schemes/camoflage or nose arts DecalFacing=RIGHT ----------------- self explanitory. basic directions included TOP, FRONT, LEFT, RIGHT FilenameFormat=B-52G_89/DiegoGarcia/D/FuseR naming convention. the D folder in this is not really needed, but a habit amongst the senior modders that i picked up Position=-2.75,0.0 ----------------- self explanitory. Rotation=0.0 ----------------- self explanitory. Scale=48.00 ----------------------------------------------- not usually this big. can be either side of the decimal point, mine are often huge due to a tga covering the whole fuselage side or wing. but one could make a bigger tga with high detail and scale below 1.0 to place on model DecalMaxLOD=3 --------------------- Wrench can explain better than me, but iirc has to do with distance visible in the case of the file name format FilenameFormat=B-52G_89/DiegoGarcia/D/FuseR aircraft/skin/D/your decal for the basics of how to add the decal.ini, look in the knowledge base for SF1 and SF2. -

come over to the dark side make tga weathering, three or 4 varieties. then mix em up amongst the squadron (including clean CAG birds) first one is a PITA in all caps. but the next 3 to 77 are really easy after that. i done did it for the 90s C-5s, and will do it if i ever get back to doing naval Phantoms -
What If Screenshot Thread.......
daddyairplanes replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
if you did any changes, you can credit original to .... whoever and yourself with the changes. i read deep in the archives something about 1 pixel making it different (think it was when i was working decals for the TW Phantom camos). but i dont claim it until i hit about 10000 pixels myself, and try to always credit the original all the same mandatory screenie, RAAF Bone patrolling over the Coral Sea
