The biggest Risk in Combat - Collision
Stingray72 replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
And yes, on the original subject of collision being a very real problem in the disorientation of combat, Oswald Boelke knew of it enough to make it one of his key points in aircraft combat. As if to prove a point, he was also killed while colliding with his wingman..... ~Gunfighter -
US ARMY gets the Block III Apache
Stingray72 replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
My ex used to work at the shop in Boise as an armament type. Last spring I got to sit in one, and A model since they are a reserve unit, but still, pretty cool. I bet the D has a pretty cool cockpit, the one I was in still had analog gauges, which I like better anyways. -

Up close view for Radar / Track While Scan?
Stingray72 replied to meade95's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, I wanna say stock it was some of the F buttons that gave you regular, wide angle, and in-close views. I have mine set on the joystick now for ease in a fight. When i need to zoom on my Tomcat radar I just hit the in-close view button then look down at it with the mouse. the other thing that you might try is, if you don't mind sacrificing your regular view, look at your radar and zoom in using the mouse scroll that Mako suggested, then leave it there. Click the button that takes you to wide angle view and zoom in a little and you have your regular view picture using the wide view. You can go back to wide view by just hitting the wide view button again. Now when you hit select back to regular view it should have left the picture where you last left it, zoomed in on your radar. Try it out, I know for a fact that this doesn't work for in-close view because I use this method on landing approaches. I'll leave my regular looking at the runway zoomed in a little and click back and forth between wide view and my regular view. When you try this method using in-close view it kind of stays in the vicinity of the windscreen instead of where you left it. ~Rob -

I would like to add another question here. Can you put the new NATO fighters over top of SF2 Vietnam? -
IL-2 '46 patching mess
Stingray72 replied to hrc's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
It separates into a few different version at UP2.1............ Through UP2.1 you can patch the game right from 4.09m to 2.1, easy day :) for 3.0 RC4 you do a sep install of IL2:1946, use the megapatch on mission4today, patch stock to 4.10.1. Then download and install UP3.0 o'er top of it. Then start applying patches RC2, RC3, and RC4 over top of this. There is also HSFX. Again, separate install of game and install it over the stock 4.10.1 Dark Blue Water (DBW) is for offline only and I don't know anything about it. Go to this website, it's where this question would be better answered: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php ~Stingray -

I would say that if you typed "making a beer run" while making a beer run that would be more impressive than having relations while typing while having relations....... ~Stingray -

Hi guys!! I tried to install a version of FSX that I found on Pirate Bay but it sucked and I deleted the folders that showed up when I installed it. I bought FSX today at the store and can't install it because the game is still showing up in my registry (I think). When I go to the standard install/uninstall page FSX shows up, however it will not let me delete it from there because I had deleted the folders. How do I get rid of it so I can install my honest copy of FSX?? ~Rob

rgr. got that now, like I said, bought at Honest copy at Fred Meyer lol. I will be getting ti fixed soon. It is a reg issue, past my kowledge, so it is gonna be dumped off Weds to be ffixed by FRi. Thanks! ~Rob

This started as i was reading the thread about the Warthog stick selling at Fry's for $350..... The second post says there are problems. I haven't jumped on any forums since I am not buying it quite yet and as such have been living blissfully in ignorance about the A+++ joystick I was pretty sure I was going to buy in November or there abouts. So what problems exactly have they had with the Warthog. And why would the manufacturer figure out this stuff before they go selling a FCS for hundreds of dollars?? Not trying to start anything here, but I was looking FWD to the Warthog because my X-52 is not quite as awesome as I thought it was going to be, and now that I have an X-52 all I hear is how they break after 6 months and things like that. For crying out loud, I just want a sweet ass'd HOTAS system that isn't going to fail on me in a few months and that I don't have to program huge dead spots into just to make the sick shots I used to make when I was using, get this, A MICROSOFTSIDEWINDER 2. Yep, not even a force feedback one, and I rocked this thing for 6 years. Come on Saitek, Logitech, CH, and Thrustmaster. Match my challenge alright, and make us happy?? Sincerely, ~Rob

Right, that's what I was asking, how do I do that lol? I have never been in my registry, in fact, I don't even know how to access it. Is there a tutorial on here or something? Or can someone give me a quick lesson in Windows ...... ~Rob

It is important to share, absolutely, although it is understandably painful. Most of the men in my family, including myself, are veterans of some conflict somewhere. I myself was deeply involved with the tragedies of 9/11 for the next few years working in different capacities, first on the homeland side, then in the Gulf. Each and every day it seems that somewhere along I will find myself replaying the images of the 2nd plane hitting the tower on the messdeck of the ship I was stationed on, looking around at my shipmates knowing instantly that we as Coast Guardsmen were about to be affected in our day to day routine. The 110' patrol boat Sanibel spent the next 4 months making patrols solely in the East River and Hudson river area. Each time we rounded the point that is the lower Manhattan to head north up the Hudson we would look and see the burnt hole where a national monument had stood. the worst of it for me was the escorts of tanker ships into Kill Van Krull. We would always pass a metal scrap yard there, and you could see fire trucks that had been pulled out from under the rubble across the river, each broken truck representing a sacrifices that I have not been asked to make. I found myself crying on the bridge of the ship silently while I was on watch, and looked around and saw that I was not alone. During these patrols we would tie up alongside the USS Intrepid museum, and there was a memorial going inside of the museum, people signing pillars showing their support for the families who were changed on 9/11. A few of us made the pilgrimage to the church a block form the site where the Twin Towers fell and visited the memorial that was there as well, but I did not have heart or will to go to the actual site myself. Just seeing all of these had moved me, and I did not feel the need to visit the grisly remains up close, having seen it from afar and seen the results. Almost two and a half years later I volunteered to join the roughly 250 other Coasties who had also volunteered to go overseas and do what we could. the US Coast Guard has 6 110' patrol boats, each crewed by the most motivated people in the Coast Guard. You see, we have to ask to go help fight a war, and we know we will not probably see action; it is not war mongering, it is the thoughts of 9/11 and knowing that some Soldier or Marine or Airman is sleeping in a tent somewhere over that hill maybe, or for the Sailor who hasn't seen his family for 8 months on the grey ship I can see a few miles away. that's what makes a handful of us each year ask for this assignment. We remember. We remember 9/11 like it was yesterday at times To those who have been touched forever by this, the families of those who perished in a tower or a cornfield, those who didn't come home from taking the fight to the terrorists, and to those who have sacrificed even a even the littlest bit for this cause, I salute you. ~Rob

Warbird Heritage Foundation A-4
Stingray72 replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
VERY COOL!!!!!! There are not too many quality Scooter vids on youtube, so I was super stoked about this one. I didn't know there were any flying as civi planes yet. My Dad flew A-4's in the Marines, and his take on the jet was a little funny, I will share here...... One night I got Dad on the phone to pump him for info on his squadron from when he flew the FJ-4; I was building a model of it for him. We got on the subject of the A-4 and what outfit he flew with, and he was pretty tipsey so the conversation was fun. My Dad is a wider sort, around 5'11" and around 190lbs with broad shoulders, and so I asked him what he thought of such a small plane. He said that he fit "alright" then he didn't say anything for a sec, then this comes out of his mouth, and I mean this is about as verbatim as I remember: "Boy what a good little airplane. Pretty quick, maneuvered fairly well, it was a bit cramped. No burner though, oh and it had those funny slats in front, and sometimes one would get stuck and you would go falling out of the sky like a corkscrew. What a dumb jet!!" I nearly fell out of my chair! this plane went from top of the charts to bottom of the pond in four sentences lol. Only a veteran...... ~Rob -
Usually Nemeth builds their stuff with bugs in them so that when people download it freeware style instead of paying for it it won't start. a lot of companies that make stuff for FSX do this. Specifically for the CH-53, if you ran the patches off of the Nemeth Designs website it won't work. If you payed for it ask them for help, they will help you. If you didn't, then run it without patching it, and the 6 step video start up will work just fine. I have it and didn't pay for it and ran into similar issues until someone cued me into how it really works :) PS, get the Huey, it is the s**t!!! ~Rob

Is there an F-16B for SFP1?
Stingray72 replied to aircraft's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Are we talking about the same F-16B, as in the two-seater. If so then yeah there's one for WOE. I have it and have messed around with the flight model a little. The roll values are ridiculous and it doesn't have working elevon visuals. PM me and I will get it to you. ~Stingray -

Stingray72 replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I had this happen when I used the guided bombs on the F-15E after I uploaded the NF series to my crap. If there is a fix for it then cool!!! ~Stingray -
Yes, thank you Stary for clarifying for us!!

My thoughts? no asked but..... Looks pretty alright. The reason that everyone uses computers is because unlike BoB there aren't enough warbirds to go around anymore. Plus it costs a lot of money to operate warbirds, and then you get into repainting them, blah blah blah.....Yeah, it looks a little hokey, but damn it's a movie. Enjoy it. That said, uh, didn't Gooding Jr. star in another movie about the Red Tails, and didn't die in said movie? A little weird lol, and while we're on that, isn't Terrence Howard in a POW camp with Bruce Willis?? ~Rob

lol Viper... There is a Megadeth vid on Youtube, and one of the responses was, after seeing such a badd ass'd music vid, well all he could say was "Hell Yeah!! F*ck Justin Beiber!" lol...... I peed my pants laughing.
