  1. We had a similar situation back in April 2001 involving China. No one at the time even thought of a Cold War with China at the time so why should we even consider the idea of a Cold War with Russia. I know we have the Ukraine Crisis and the Syrian Civil War and that Russia may or may not be involved in these incidents, but let's take some time and think things through.

  2. The desert campaigns only covers 1959 and 1975. They all got a mercenary campaign that is fun to fly in. It gets even better if you have 3rd party aircraft because the are included in the mercenary purchases.

    The game is open ended in terms of story so modding the starting year won't make the campaign awkward. Just be aware that buying an F-22 as a merc cost more than 300k, and the fact that most merc missions ends up earning 30k tops.

  3. I suggest getting the NATO Fighters mod. It covers the entire period from the 1950s to the 1980s. Here's my interpretations of the campaigns

    1953- Korean War style dogfights (F-86)

    1956- Supersonic era (F-100)

    1962- Early missile age (Mirage III)

    1968- Early BVR and LGB age (F-4)

    1979- Modern air combat (F-15, F-16)

    1986- Ultimate showdown (Mig-29, Su-27)

    In my book, if you are looking for AG missions that have TV guided missiles and Laser Guided Bombs, I suggest playing the 1979 campaign. It refines the weapons of 1968 and you have an F-16 that can roflstomp anything that flies at the time.

    If you want a bigger challenge, you can also do the 1986 campaign. Same weapons but deadlier opponents.

  4. With the release of OP. Darius, I'm pleased with the mod, being able to fly just about every major aircraft in our current time frame.

    Although I am a bit disappointed that the French does not have a Rafale in the game.

    I heard of the Rafale B on A-team, although that is a bit on the old side now.

    I am curious if anyone is working on the C and M variants.

  5. As bad as the situation gets, we need to take the time to see the Iranian perspective on this issue.

    Seriously, the US is looking for an excuse to turn Iran into El-Salvador or Chile all over again.

    I don't even think anyone here understand why the Iranians hate the west, especially the US that much that lead to this CF.

  6. @wrench- The main problem i'm having is that the effects are no longer visible after I applied the may-2011 patch.

    I'm just wondering if it had something to do with the effect changes TK said he'd made with these new patches because the effects work perfectly at pre-may 2011 levels.

    @lexx_luthor- I understand your issue. maybe dave and wrench have some advice on how to edit the files.

  7. Ever since the may 2011 patch, I cannot see the missile effect that Lexx_Luthor had made.

    anyone here used this on SF2 and had it working on post-may patch, cause I cannot figure out a way to make it work again?

    I appreciate any advice given. This is a great missile effect mod and needs to be upgraded to SF2 standards.

  8. thanks for the information.

    I never knew the multi rocket packs are actually separate models, I'll be sure to check it out.

    In regards to the map editor, I always use KMD to review my coordinate placing. Something like this in the stock SF2V Vietnam_targets.ini

    [TargetArea085]

    Name=Dixie Station

    Position=720000.00,176000.00

    Radius=5657

    ActiveYear=0

    Location=10

    Alignment=FRIENDLY

    CarrierStation=TRUE

    I need an SF2 equivalent so I at least know where my carrier stations are located.

    I'm trying to mod the stock SF2 and SF2E maps to allow carrier stations but I need this particular editor to see if my coordinates are correct.

    @wrench- what is the editor you are referring too? I'll try and find it

  9. I like the SF2 series and it is a major improvement over SF1. The problem for me is that I don't know how to mod the map location in the "map name"_targets.ini file.

    I normally use the KMD mission editor for SF1 to adjust locations when trying to add carrier capabilities in maps.

    http://combatace.com/files/file/2678-kmd/

    Is there an SF2 version of KMD that I can use?

    For the next question, I notice in some SF2 screenshots that some people have added rocket pods attached to TER which allow for 3 rocket pods in one hardpoint.

    is there a way for me to add that and how can I do it?

  10. @Bwild

    I did the same procedure when using the AIM-9G and it works well for me. here is the pic to show how it works.

    @Bwild and Dave

    I tried to see if the SEAM function is actually in game and I come across one conclusion. When I tried it with the merged installs + EXP1 only, the AIM-9G and other IRM that have 180 rear aspect function the same way as all IRM with 60 rear aspect lock which they fly straight with no tumbling motion you normally see in an all aspect IRM.

    When I installed EXP2, I see a major improvement to the IRM that have 180 rear aspect. I test fired the AIM-9E and G models (one do not have seeker slave and the other does), and both missiles intercept their targets the same way an all aspect would in addition to the tumbling motion that the all aspects possess.

    From the looks of it, looks like rear 180 IRM's now have some kind of limited all aspect capability of some sort. Not that they can lock-on in a head on but it greatly improves the Pk compared to rear 60 IRM's.

    On a note to Bwild, looks like this function only works once you get EXP2. I dunno if it will work if you patch it to dec.2010c but i'm not willing to try it because of the "over the airfield" bug. I dunno but i may need someone to correct me on the patching part.

  11. I think we already have half of the Gulf of Sidra mission which takes place in 1989. We sure could use a campaign that takes place in Libya, the map is good enough to put one major air war into play.

    Other than that, I'm currently using the stock WOE campaign to work on a 1951 campaign if the US actually went ahead with the invasion of China in which the Soviets respond by attacking Europe.

    This campaign is technically MiG Alley in Europe.
