  1. flaming onion version2 clip

OOOOOOH MAMA! We are gonna need a lot more Windex. Fan-freakin-tastic stumpjumper!
  2. Wine thread

Chateauneuf-du-pape White, with some warm almond crepes...very nice. Of course, CJ's MD 20-20 enjoyed directly from the brown-paper-bag-wrapped bottle along with a good 4-bit stogie, while sitting on the edge of a quiet rail bridge watching the river meander along on a warm summer's day has merits all it's own. Over the course of the years I have learned it is wise to take pleasure in whatever life sends your way. Cheers! Lou
  3. Latest good Nvidia drivers?

One of my mantras as well. That, coupled with the KISS approach to problem solving, has kept me in good stead more often than not. Cheers! Lou
  4. Flaming Onions

stumpjumper, is that coming up from the ground like a tracer Sir? If so, you may have found the last bit needed for the full effect. Reports of the day compared the look of the firey balls rising up to that of a Roman Candle...pretty and scary at the same time. Thanks again for all your time and effort on this. Cheers! Lou
  5. Flaming Onions

A little Windex will clean that right off BuB.
  6. drop in fps

BuB, here they are: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0ghz Wolfdale 6mb 1333fsb 45nm with Arctic Cooler Memroy: 8gb DDR2 PC2-6400 800mhz Mobo: ASUS P5QL Pro Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 SATA II NCQ 500gb 32mb Opti Drive: LG 22X DVD+/RW Dual Layer SATA Rewrite Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512mb OS: Windows 64-bit XP Pro I currently have the CPU overclocked to 3.8ghz, and the memory sticks OC'd to 890mhz. With the monster cooler and fans I am running the box never gets hotter than about 95f, and that's after I have been rolling around in a major dogfight for 10 to 15 minutes. Also, with the current slider settings, no white jaggies of any kind, no matter how fast you turn your head. Cheers! Lou
  7. I had to talk to somebody about it.

I too have read similar reflections in the writings of the Great War pilots Mr. Lucky. And, I also had very much the same feelings myself yesterday when I flew my first campaign for FFA23 and watched two brave Brits choose the long fall instead of the fire. Really quite sobering stuff.
  8. Flaming Onions

Now THAT would scare the livin' bejeebers right out of you! Outstanding effects there stumpjumper.
  9. Olham, I adjust my graphics card settings directly through the card's control panel, not the sim's, and I pick it as a global setting. Then I set up other graphics profiles for other programs if I need them. I have never lost my card settings for OFF by using this method. And from the looks of your pics Olham you really only need to get the anti-aliasing setting to stay up where you set it. Everything else looks very good. Cheers! Lou
  10. GASP! Yes...yes, it's true. I decided it was high time I found out what it was like on the east side of the mud, so I signed on as Fredrick Krieg with FFA23 in September of 1915. We are currently flying the EIII's out of Vaux-en-Vermandois in Flanders. I have to say that so far it has been VERY busy in our AO, so much so that in just four missions I have already filed seven claims for kills; one Bristol Scout and six BE2c's, (none confirmed yet though). Talk about cold meat, those poor RFC blighters flying the B/R buses truly are "Fokker Fodder". Even the Bristol is not much of a match for the Einie as long as you keep your wits about you and use the EIII's meager ability to zoom. Here are a few screen shots of my latest mission. Lifting off from the field with my wingman, Erich Eisenberg. Slowly climbing as we head towards the front. We soon encounter four Bristol Scouts who dive to engage us; the idiots gave up their alt. I pick out my partner and begin the waltz. I soon discover that he must be a novice, and feel a bit sad that he will not survive long enough to improve his skills. I no sooner put a solid burst into my prey when his wingman nearly collides with me as he attempts a zoom. I chase him all the way to the mud, but am unable to get a kill shot on him before he flys himself into Mother Earth. I thread my way through the AA barrage as my flight turns back towards home. After returning to camp I was required to drink more than a few pints of fine German bier to celebrate our successful sojourn. Despite the quality of the ale and the company it still felt none-the-less odd toasting the Kaiser and the Fatherland, though I imagine given enough time and drink I could get use to it. Cheers...er...um...I mean, Prost! Lou
  11. Three cheers and free beers for Rex! Lou
  12. OFF V 1.32D Flak / Archi Poll

There are plenty of settings for me Sir. I have the latest and greatest updates pretty well dialed in to my liking and am back to getting my sorry old arse handed to me by your AI aces on a regular basis, thank you very much. Cheers! Lou
  13. Flaming Onions

That looks very cool stumpjumper! Can't wait to see the demo video. Cheers! Lou
  14. Skin historian needed (OVS?)

Hemorad, are you sure you don't mean an LVG CVI? Rumpler and Albatros both built a CVII but I don't recall ever seeing an LVG CVII. Inquiring minds want to know. Also, if you are referring to the LVG CVI, I have not seen any photos showing the combination you are describing. Cheers! Lou
  15. Thanks Olham. I run a Nvidia 9800 GTX+ with anti-aliasing currently set at 16xQ. Cheers! Lou
  16. Thanks Olham and Fliegenhund, we shall see how long I can survive in this kite. And roast duck with red cabbage and dumplings! Ummmmmmmm. That and the bier may just give me cause to stay a while longer. BTW, I posted a few screenshots of my mission this morning. Another turkey shoot I'm afraid. Prost! Lou
  17. Up bright and early to find Fredrick Krieg of FFA23 assigned a patrol of the northern sectors. Got up into the clouds of a crisp September morning over Flanders only to lose sight of my flight. But shortly thereafter came upon a trio of BE2's running a recon. I slowly swung onto the tail of the trailing aircraft and let fly with several good volleys. They took almost no evasive action...and never jumped. Two more candles will burn in Blighty for it's lost sons. Lou
  18. An important bit of needed info here is which aircraft you are tryng to fight a Camel with? There are really only a few that stand a chance of beating one that is flown to it's edge. Generally speaking you will need the alt advantage and will need to keep it, unless you are piloting the DR1, which is the only match for the Camel in a turn fight. Well, that and the mighty DVII, but that doesn't come along til quite late in the war. The other trick is to try and push the Camel to turn left. You already know that it can turn 270 degrees right quicker than it can turn 90 degress left. Unfortunately so does its pilot, so unless he is a rookie you likely won't get him to take the bait. But if you can you may force him to stall out and you will have those precious moments to get in the kill shot. Good luck, you'll need it. Cheers! Lou
  19. What the heck are you still doing around here Pol!? I thought you were already on your break Sir. Go...get...take a hike...cop a walk. You're supposed to be somewhere else, ANYWHERE ELSE, having fun...so hit the road Jack. Cheers! Lou
  20. Lone wolf confirmed kill

Never. No witness, no credit for the kill, which is about how it went for most pilots in WW1. But thewoo1, you have the satisfaction of knowing you have destroyed an enemy of the King, (to paraphrase the CO in "The Blue Max"). Cheers! Lou
  21. Don't know for sure duh1nonly, but since installing the latest upgrades I have not been kicked out in flight, even with pretty badly damaged aircraft. However, in the four times I have landed said aircraft I AM kicked out as soon as I start rolling on the ground. It's possible however that I simply had not taken enough damage to get booted while still in flight. Cheers! Lou
  22. Last night I was again going through my WW1-related files and folders and ran across an outstanding article written by Tom Solinski, (about ten years ago now), on the alphanumeric designations of the many aircraft the Germans flew in WW1. It is very concise and clear, and dispels some commony held misconceptions about the system. Some of you may have already read this, for those who have not you may find it interesting. Enjoy. Cheers! Lou
  23. OT - German Aircraft Designation System
