What do you think this is ?
RAF_Louvert replied to Womenfly2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Nah, you're all wrong. Those are for playing "Luftring Werfen", (a Hun form of aerial ring toss), for when the pilots got really bored on the long recons. Cheers! Lou -
Very neat photo Olham, but I have a hunch it is a "staged" studio shot. There are at least two very strong light sources judging by the angles and intensity of the shadows being cast onto the fuselage. Also, the background and subject are both nearly perfectly in focus. Unlikely this was taken in flight, but still a neat old pic. Cheers! Lou

Zeppelins Over Paris !
RAF_Louvert replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
Good Morning Winston, As I understand it, there are numerous reasons why you might "fail" the mission. Not reaching certain waypoints and/or objectives in a set time window; accruing a threshold amount of damage to your aircraft; allowing the enemy to reach their objectives, etc. The sim engine decides when the total of these factors is "enough" and tells you you have failed. I'm sure others here have a better idea of what exactly is involved in this. Hope the info is helpful Sir. Cheers! Lou -
Richthofen was presented the Order of the Red Eagle, Knight 3rd Class with Crown and Swords, for shooting down 70 enemy planes. There are six classes of the award with many, many variants. And CJ, I am quite sure you are correct Sir, Manfred was the only pilot to receive this honour in WW1. Cheers! Lou

Apologies to Stumpjumper, Mathias, and All Concerned
RAF_Louvert posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Good Morning Everyone, After posting the "Gothas Along the Thames" mission I recieved an email from Stumpjumper last night informing me that the searchlight files I included should not have been uploaded without the permission of Mathias and the rest of the folks who built them. My sincere apologies. I had been made aware of the files by OlPaint01 in his forum post concerning my Zeppelin mission, and I found them in Eurofinn's "Berlin" mission over at the Sims Outhouse CFS3 download section. I assumed that since they were already available as part of another mission download that they could be used as such, as long as proper credit was given to the sources. I made sure to mention and thank those in my instruction sheet included in the mission download, but it appears that the searchlight files origianlly came from Mathias and Stumpjumper and others who worked to build them. I don't know Mathias or how to get in touch with him, so I am posting here in an effort to clear this up. I don't want to offend anyone by not giving credit where credit is due, or by breaking the rules when it comes to the many OFF add-ons and how they are to be handled. Again, sorry if I have stepped on toes here or not followed proper file etiquette. If someone can put me in touch with Mathias so that my mistake can be corrected it would be much appreciated. Cheers! Lou -
Gothas Along the Thames!
RAF_Louvert replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
Winston, no there are no Gotha "weapons" in the download, only the Gotha pylons. And no, do not overwrite any existing files, (I did make sure to mention that in the instructions included in the download). It should all work for you Sir, I just tried the download myself and it went fine. Cheers! Lou -
Over Flanders Fields Between Heaven and Hell Bloody April (video)
RAF_Louvert replied to Jammer28's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Another masterpiece Jammer, and a great musical score as well. Brought a tear to my eye, it did. These works of yours really could be used to promote OFF to the world at large. Cheers! Lou -
Gothas Along the Thames!
RAF_Louvert replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - File Announcements
Hello OlPaint01, Actually, the "Gothas Along the Thames" mission was a complete rebuild on my part. I changed the routes, the waypoints, the bases, time and date...all of it. I also added the airraid sirens and a lot more AA to the mix, just for flavour when you are flying over London. And I rearranged the placement and number of searchlights as well. As to the trick of converting the old missions, here is what I've discovered so far. In the few Phase 2 missions I have opened up and looked at, the main reason they won't work in Phase 3 seems to be because the file names for the planes and other such items no longer match what is now in your OFF folders. If you go into the .XML mission file via the code itself, (use Notepad or something similar for this), you will see what I mean. The plane choice may have been tagged as say "fokkerDR1_ace" in Phase 2, while in Phase 3 you may now have to use something like "fokker_DR1_AC1". If you go through and change all the affected file names to those that are now available I am betting most of these old Phase 2 missions will work as BHaH missions. Check it out Sir, and see if you can get one to go for you. Cheers! Lou -

Thank you very much stumpjumper, I much appreciate your efforts on my behalf. And please send a big "Thank You!" to Mathias from me as well Sir. I will be sure to check around more the next time I happen to use any add-on files in one of my projects, and make sure that all is handled as it should be. Cheers! Lou -
Good Evening Fenris, Yuppers, a 64-bit OS makes a world of difference. I've been running XP 64 Pro since I built my OFF computer and it is lightning fast. Cheers! Lou

Little Details You Look For in a Sim?
RAF_Louvert replied to SirMike1983's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Oh man, where to begin?! I like it all in this sim. The planes, the skins, the terrain, the weather, the missions, the campaigns, the historical details, the ability to customize...and I've barely gotten going with it all really. But if I had to choose one thing that I like best, it would be the dog "meowing" when you hit the start screen. Cheers! Lou -

Gothas Along the Thames! I've just finished up the build on my latest OFF BHaH mission and have sent it to the Downloads section. It should be available soon. And let me tell you, this is one mean mission to fly! In the past when I'd read the accounts of the British Home Defense flyers and their attempts at intercepting the night raiders, I thought they may have been stretching things a bit in terms of how difficult it actually was. They were not! Even with our handy dandy TAC screen on you can fly right by these monsters and never see them. But what a rush to turn the lights off in my little computer room, jump into the cockpit of my Se5, and do my best for King and Country in the night skies over Blighty. I managed to send two down in flames and make it back in one piece, and that was after about a dozen attempts at running this mission, and losing five of my own kites, (and pilots), in the process. Cheers! Lou -

It is a moonlit night in July of 1917. London sleeps as flights of Gotha bombers proceed from the east along the Thames with the intention of bombing the very heart of Britain yet again. Your flight of Se5's stationed at Sutton's Farm have been given the order to scramble immediately and intercept the Hun threats before they can unleash their deadly cargo. Camels from nearby Hainault Farm are on the way as well to assist in this most dire mission. Fly south to the river and alt up as fast as you can and don't waste your ammo, there will be no time to land and reload. Watch for the searchlights and the AA as they converge on the Gothas, it will aid you in locating them once they are over the city. This will be an extremely difficult mission, so do your best. The safety of London depends on you and your squad mates. Good luck and God's speed, you will need both. -

Thanks OlPaint, I appreciate the info and links. I am starting to play around with the Gothas and some of the other add-ons and will let you know when I get a new mission ready to run. The "Gotha Terror" video is all the work of catch, and it is excellent! Cheers! Lou -
