Did Werner Voss have a brother?
RAF_Louvert replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Oh, I can believe it Sir. Also, I wanted to add, that the photo Olham posted is actually of Werner and his two brothers, which is why they look like they might be related. . -
Did Werner Voss have a brother?

. He had two brothers, Olham: Max and Otto. Not sure what the story is on either one of them. . -
TrackIR goes strange...still
RAF_Louvert replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Well that is odd Hauksbee. Not sure where to steer you on this one. Your new shortcut is pointing to the copied TrackIR folder on your 'J' drive, correct? And you renamed the original TrackIR folder on your 'C' drive so that Windows can no longer find it, and deleted any shortcuts on your desktop pointing to it, correct? . -
. I've been shopping around for a while now, in an effort to make a move up from my old GTX 9800+ vid card. While it has been serving me very well in OFF, it is max'd out as far as I can safely take it in order to push P3 at a good pace on my system. Since I don't use my flying computer for anything other than OFF when it comes to sims and gaming, I don't need to go hog wild on a new card, but I do need a step up from what I currently run. So, after a fair amount of research and hunting about the bargain bins, the replacement I've settled upon is a brand new EVGA GTX 460 SC edition from TigerDirect for the very nice price of $143.99, including delivery. This card not only has twice the onboard memory as my old 9800 but will easily be three times faster in nearly all aspects. I can't wait for it to arrive so I can pop it in, load up the new drivers, and give it a spin. Hardly cutting edge technology I know, but a massive jump over what I have, and likely more than enough to max out OFF 2 when it debuts, which should be any day now ... right? .

TrackIR goes strange...still
RAF_Louvert replied to Hauksbee's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Oh yes, Hauksbee, I am using the hat clip, (sorry about that). However, even with the Clip Pro the pattern you are showing is incorrect. It should form a triangle that looks like this: I think you need to adjust your clip as the pattern you have appears inverted and more linear than triangular, and I'll bet this is confusing TrackIR when the mood is right, (or wrong, depending on how you look at it). . -

. Hauksbee, a while back I posted about installing TrackIR onto another drive. Just pop over to this link: A Tip For Track IR, If You Have Multiple Hard Drives As to your image showing the light point display, they should form a triangle that is centered on the crosshair, like this: . -
When there was still some Chivalry in the Air War
RAF_Louvert replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Ah, reading "Flying Section 17" I see. Excellent book Olham. . -
. Oh my Lord! I have visited the Smithsonian website countless times in the course of doing research and I have never found this. Thank you Dej for pointing us towards this treasure. I have downloaded the PDF version into my own library and looked through the first several pages. While my French is beyond poor, the reading still gave me chills. This is it! Thenault's own daily log of events in the Escadrille Américaine, written as it was happening. To see all those names we know so well and to know they were penned at the time of their exploits. It brought a tear to my eye...seriously. .

OT..At last I'm (semi) content with my Rig

. Yes, but be careful Hauksbee. I overshot when I tried it and ended up at the release of P5 which, as fate would have it, turns out to be the selfsame time machine. I wound up in a godforsaken random cycle time loop that I have yet to sort through. The cycle can repeat every few seconds, minutes, or years, with no rhyme nor reason to it whatsoever. Just when I think I might have it figured out it flips back and starts all ... Yes, but be careful Hauksbee. New Photo Albums at "Flieger-Album" Website

. Thanks for the update on this excellent website and it's recent additions, Olham. . -
. Also, here's a little secret for those who really appreciate the photos over at the Vintage Aviator and might like to have one or more to use as a screensaver and/or wallpaper. Open a photo gallery on their website then right click on a particular thumbnail and copy it's address from the 'Properties' window. For example, the Snipe photo in Dej's link is: "http://thevintageaviator.co.nz/files/images/sopwith-snipe/thumbnail/sopwith-snipe.thumbnail.jpg" (without the quotes). Paste this into the address bar of your browser and before you click it get rid of the 'thumbnail' tags. The above example would become this: "http://thevintageaviator.co.nz/files/images/sopwith-snipe/sopwith-snipe.jpg" (again, without the quotes). Click on that link and watch what happens. You're welcome. .

. YES! New Zealand here we come! .
-
. Dej, you'll want to call +64 49093100, ask for Gene or Mika. One of them will know exactly who to point you to. Or just stop by Kilbirne, Wellington, New Zealand and ask them in person. .
-
. Tap gently though as those 0's can distort quiet easily. You might need a HEX wrench too, but don't get ANCI if it takes a while to get everything just so. .

. She is a beauty isn't she? And yes to all of the above. Also, you can be back before any lunch you like, (it is a time machine after all). As to the Cretaceous Period: been there, done that. It goes out with a bang BTW, really spectacular and a 'must see' in my book. You'll also want to slip ahead to star date 41636.9 and observe the escalation of hostilities between the Federation and the Romulans along the Neutral Zone, it's really something to watch. Trust me Hauksbee, it never ends. . -

RAF_Louvert replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Yes, that's true Hauksbee. But who among us will actually be able to afford his own time machine? . -
. But you will know how to square up and trim the little beastie. .

. This AM, as I was making my weekly perusal of the latest book listings on eBay, I once again hit gold. A 1929 English edition, (possibly a 1st), of Erich Remarque's classic, 'All Quiet on the Western Front', in the original, (albeit somewhat tatty), dust jacket. Now, while 1929 editions of this novel are relatively easy to come by due to the vast number printed, to find one in an original dust jacket in any condition is quite rare. And, when you do find one, they can command some serious money. But there I was, sipping my coffee and enjoying my search, when said book pops up with a 'Buy It Now' price of $9.99! I had to look twice to be sure I was reading it right, and once I was certain of what I was seeing I hit the buy button just as fast as I could click the mouse. Here is a photo of the item I am now anxiously awaiting to arrive: Sweet! Another fine book for my WWI library. Lou .

OT: 2012 Is The Year I Do It

OT: War or gaming fun?
RAF_Louvert replied to MikeDixonUK's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Oh, I don't agree with that at all Siggi. I want to hunt down and execute every crooked, low-life, smarmy-faced politician, banker, and lawyer I can find, in the public squares at high noon, but I believe that is a normal, healthy attitude. Our environment creating a psychological culture that dictates our reactions and responses to stimuli? BAH! Poppycock! Kill 'em all I say ... first against the wall when the revolution comes, each and every one of 'em ... bring back the guillotine ... perfectly normal, sound, and rational ideas. Reaction to stimuli ... pfffff. . -

RAF_Louvert replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Really Olham, you're going to accuse us Americans of using additives in our bread? This from the man who's people made bread with sawdust. The word 'ersatz' comes to mind right about now. Just kidding mein Freund, but you pitched the ball so I had to swing. . -
. I may have to sit down and read this one myself now. I mean, when two individuals such as Dej and Si, (who both strike me as well-read and more than just a little insightful), have such diametrically opposed viewpoints on the same book? Well, there must be something there then. .
-
. Siggi, mine is the exact same edition as yours. It is complete and quite sound given it's age, but it does show all the signs of having been in use at the time. It has the original owner's signature on the inside front cover, written with a fountain pen in a wonderful old script: 'F.E. Rayner'. I need to put some more effort into finding out if he is on the rolls somewhere. .

OT: 2012 Is The Year I Do It
RAF_Louvert replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
. Thank you Olham, I am feeling better with each passing week: more energy and more motivation. And well done Sir on your own program. Giving up the bread items at breakfast though, very tough. Thank you as well, Herr Prop-Wasche. And if giving up bread is hard, giving up cookies and cutting back on ice cream is far tougher. I know, becuase I've done the same. Your point Sir about exercising is spot on, you really need to make that part of the whole program. And thank you Tranquillo, looks like our 'contest' is off to an excellent start. Good going Sir, and not to worry about the occasional flat spot in the chart, that is to be expected during a long term program. Keep up the fine efforts everyone! .
