February 14, 1917-Close air support-Jasta 11-flight lead+4-Albatros DIII(early) realism-120% Patch 1.28a Hardcore DM I won't go through the dogfight because it all happened so fast I hardly remember it. We came upon a flight of eight DH2s. I ended up claiming 4 (mission review said 5) and two fell within 100 yards of each other. That was the most memorable part of the whole mission. I shot down one DH2 and looked to my left and saw another coming toward me about 150f-200ft below. I pushed the stick to the left and kicked left rudder hard and my Albatros responded like it was on rails. I had him in my sights for just a split second and fired a short burst (review said 6 rounds). To my surprise he snap rolled and spun in, hitting the ground about 100 yards from the previous kill. The RFC lost all eight DH2s and we lost one Albatros. CJ

Yeah, four kills (5 by the mission review) in three minutes, and especially when the kills were made with only 65 hits. One with a 6 round burst! I came home with 75% of my ammunition load. CJ

I've only had to install BH&H once and I installed right over Phase 2. It's a seamless transition with no glitches or other files required (with the exception of the latest update available at www.overflandersfields.com) so you should have no problems at all. If you do, you know where to come! CJ

Wouldn't toggling the magneto have the same effect? I'm asking because I don't mess with them. Take the fire and the engine dies, put it back before it quits spinning and it fires. Sounds reasonable to me. CJ

It is all good. I never implied that it wasn't. But if they want to be taken seriously, methinks they should consider a different name. When it is released, it will no doubt be on my hard drive (regardless of the name), along with OFF, RB3D and RoF, that is, if Gennadich decides to drop the log in requirement for SP. I'm not against making new sims, that would be asinine and a total contradiction of what I consider myself, a flight sim enthusiast. Besides, I've just been itching to fly an SS DIII or IV, and it looks like OOF is the only sim that I'll be able to do it in, in the foreseeable future. CJ

Don't let it get to you Luis. I started flying OFF Phase 2 in July of '07 and BH&H since shortly after it was released. I consider myself a pretty decent sim pilot but have had my butt handed to me on a platter on several occasions. It's humbling to say the least. The most recent episode is still clear in my memory. I was on a mission the other day flying a DVII with three in tow, flying high cover (about 1500 ft above) when six SPAD XIIIs attacked the rest of the flight. I had visions of me screaming down from on high and vanquishing the enemy. I had the advantage and the superior aircraft, but my delusions of granduer were soon dashed. No sooner than I got one of the SPADs in my sights and was squeezing the trigger, I was caught in a blistering crossfire from two SPADs below me. Never got a shot off. There was an explosion, and some fire, so I cut the engine and put it in a dive. Thankfully the fire went out, however, the fire from behind was still hot! They blasted me all the way down. To add insult to injury they even shot me up when I was on the ground! Sometimes the AI in BH&H will humiliate even the best pilots, but I love it! CJ

:whistle2: Here we go with the CFS3 phobias again. We all know that CFS3 had a rod knockin' when it rolled off of the showroom floor, why bring that up again? BH&H is a total frame off restoration where everything has been replaced save the ashtray and rocker arm covers. No comparison whatsoever between the two. Perhaps I should have said, "IL2 engine or not, it ain't no BH&H by a loooooong stretch, yet. Maybe then you wouldn't be so defensive. I just love how people take things out of context just to put heat into a discussion. BTW, I think I've been around flight sims long enough to be able to recognize when something is not finished, so you can give me a break there. I said nothing derogatory about IL2 or OOF. Speaking of that, dontcha think they could have come up with something just a little more original, not to mention that the list of aircraft that are being worked on for OOF is almost verbatim the list of aircraft the folks here would like to see in OFF. If that is the case, they better strap on their rocket boosters, because they've got a long way to go. This "mine's better than yours" garbage is totally irrelevant in the grand scheme of things anyway. I read the complete thread and there were some comments I would have liked to have made, however, some of the guys there spoke about IL2 with such reverence and Microsoft was referred to as Microsock, i figured that discretion was the better part of valor and kept my mouth shut. I got the impression that the mere mention of CFS3 or OFF would have gotten me flamed in short order, so I just asked about a dynamic campaign and whether or not it was strictly MP. Still, IL2 engine or not, it ain't no BH&H by a looooong stretch. CJ

How do I map "Center Trackir" (F12) to my joystick? I used to know but I believe I have a corrupted HD. CJ

You've got Workshops set to log all flights, Campaign and QC, right? I don't do that because it messes up my campaign pilots if I forget to change that setting back to log campaign flights only. I guess that's one way to pad your kill score in campaign, but the flight log gives you up. CJ
