Ideas for Phase IV (not the ant film)
Rickitycrate replied to Wels's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes the depth and options are amazing and believe me I don't know it all myself. I just found I could control the observer position with a gamepad rather than joystick. It give me much better control and accuracy than stick. I appreciated your post as well because I have flown with automix all the time but now I am starting a new carreer in a two-seater and going to manual mixture would be a great idea for this campaign. -

Avro 504K night fighter with Lewis on Foster-mounting. -
Cowman I take no credit of course, just a flunky flier, but I am happy to hear that you are having a great experience. I agree it is like a new sim and I did not have issues previous to the SuperPatch. Enjoy and best wishes, JIm

I find now that stormy/rain clouds hit my fps the hardest now. It's the single biggest fps factor for me. Slider at 1. On a clear day I'm up to 60 fps and down to maybe 40 depending....

OlPaint I think we have engine performance now. You need to deselect auto-mixture in workshop. If I understand correctly. Gun jams are there too. Engine failure, I've had that too. I work the throttle a great deal myself in a furball. -

I have played an unknown number of games over the years, a big fan of FPS, and I have never felt so mortal as when I am flying DiD standards in OFF BH&H. -

Photo #2. Halberstadt D-II possibly the one flown by Boelcke D-II D.605/16. The Halberstadter Flugzeugwerke was originally a branch of the British and Colonial Aeroplane Company of Bristol, known as the Deutsche Bristol-Werke, Halberstadt. Early in 1916 the design of the D-I was enhanced and went into production as the D-II. It was powered by a 120 h.p. Mercedes with starboard side exhaust discharge. The feature in the photo is the balanced elevator that was hinged about it's spar.; two steel tubes supported the weak-looking balanced rudder. Steel tubing was also used for the plain vee undercarriage. The craft was first used for escorting reconnaissance. McCudden wrote of the Halberstadt"I have never in my experience seen a machine, under control, dive so deeplyand so long." -

Red Dog, nice work on the Reed Chambers Spad sir. I have had a longing for the planes of the 94th from 1919 in this sim. I had hoped to do this skin for the skinning contest but my skin skills were thin skills and I came no where close to what you've done. Pease tell me that you will make her available for download. Just in case you have just endless amounts of time on your hands and are in need of something to do http://www.internetmodeler.com/2000/septem...a/showbirds.htm . First the devs sort out the Spad FM and now the 1919 Chambers Spad. Oh please do make it available please when she's done. -
Heads up my friends!

Number 2: Nieuport 11 known as the "Bebe". Powered by the 110 hp Le Rhone. Designed by Delage. Originally design to enter the Gorden Bennett Cup contest. First the British and then the French governments placed ordersfor this type. It was armed with a stripped Lewis gun, mounted in various ways above the center section to fire above the airscrew arc. The French units received the Bebe in the late summer of 1915. The RNAS used the is type as early as July in the Dardanelles. Admirable design as it was the N11 was structurally weak. Several pilots were killed when wings failed while in the air. Original engine was the 80hp Gnome rotary. This engine was later replaced with the 110 hp Le Rhone as pictured which produced a much improved performance. If that is not the 110 hp Le Rhone perhaps it is the 120 hp Le Rhone? It appears to be a 9 cylinder. -
Thanks for the notice Erik and best wishes with the changeover.

Computer rig
Rickitycrate posted a topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
I was given a Dell Dimension 2350 and I am wondering if 1946 would run satisfactorily if I upgrade to 1G ram and add a Nvidea 8400GS card? Any thoughts or advice is appreciated. -

JediMaster, yes running XP and only P4 1.80GHz. Max ram is 1024 MB. Ques. If the max memory is 1G and the Graphics card has 512 or 1G is the graphic card memory usable? I don't understand this limitation. Does the card need to match the memory in the slots. As you can see I am a dunce. -
Would anyone be able to tell me what I need to do regarding losing my wireless pc connection when a family member picks up the landline phone. I imagine that there is a conflict with the frequency. The phone is a wireless 2.4 ghz or whatever, 2.4 anyway. I have Comcast cable broadband. If I get a phone with different frq. would that end my problem? This causes me grief. Please help the fool.

Ideas for Phase IV (not the ant film)

Well here's my sillyassed idea. OFF 1919. The war continues. Planes that barely saw action get thier chance to shine. Planes that were on the drawing board take to the air and fly for glory. The 94th Aerosquad fights in thier fantasticly painted 1919 crates. Prototypes from all sides meet in the air for a bit o'fun. Please don't hate me. -
What's the magic flying WW1 Aircraft over WW2 aircraft?
Rickitycrate replied to outfctrl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Why WWI and why OFF. WWI is where it all begins for air warfare. These are the crates and the pilots that were the boyhood dreams and heroes of the men that flew in WWII and beyond. The crates are so fragile and underpowered, as aviation is yet new, so to my mind there is a sense of pioneering. Technology and tactics are evolving. In the 4 years of conflict technology pressed on rapidly and the aircraft reflect the progress. The control of the pilot in the open cockpit at speeds that allow to see the world about you and the time often to think ahead and plan attacks. The close-in fighting that allows to see the whites of thier eyes. You are more intimate with your enemy. Many are the times when I land safely only to regather myself, I sweat and sigh and shake my head. Can it be that I survived the conflict? Oh to fly again but first to collect myself. Skill plays a major part but luck in some guise often makes the difference. OFF BH&H makes all this so satisifyingly real. -
HI guys, I'm getting set to return to campaign and want to fly german two-seaters. My question is can a gamepad rather than a joystick be used for the contol of the observer's gun. I have a dickens of a time trying to line up the observer gun with the joystick. Seems a pad might give better control and mimic gun operation a little more closely to real life. p.s.: if anyone can advise me on a Dell 2350 please see my thread in the General Help forum.

Ich weiss es nicht. Gamepad is good because it approximates hloding the gun in your hands. -
Observer gun control

Thanks for the headsup Mark. I use that very stick and really like it. If I do buy a FFB pad of course I'll only pay a couple bucks so no loss. This is great for any of us 2 seater jockeys. -

Observer gun control
Rickitycrate replied to Rickitycrate's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi guys. Well I plugged-in a usb gamepad in and during flight I went the observer position. The game pad worked right away. I did not set it up or configure. As it defaulted for me with the left thumbstick for aiming and buttons 1 or 2 working for fire. Very simple and all I could ask for. Much better control of aiming and the sensation of operating the machine gun. Now I need a gamepad with FFB! Maybe this is old news for you guys but it is yet another immersion enhancer for me. I start out as pilot and simply keep the gamepad handy and when I switch to observer I grab the game pad. It is very seamless and less frustrating. It makes it easier to see why the A/I observer gunners are so deadly. So far very simple and no conflicts with controllers. Give it a try you probably have a gamepad in your kitbag. Cheers! I give it two thumbs up, hehe. -

Good for you Ax not only will you be back to flying but it will be better than before. -
It's only a number I think about when I look at it in Workshop. I'm not in there very often. I say no.
