  1. Dear friends, Fortiesboy and I are proud to present what I believe to be our best damage model yet! The Herr Prop-Wasche and Fortiesboy Damage Model Variety Pack (DMVP) is intended to be used as an alternative campaign damage model to any other currently existing damage model already released either by OBD or by any other third party. Our damage model is currently composed of a combination of four existing damage models, and is therefore actually four DMs in one: OBD's original "hardcore" DM, Fortiesboy's DM, my Intermediate Damage Model 2.2, and a hybrid DM consisting of a combination of OBD's hardcore DM and the threshold values from my IDM! This new damage model takes advantage of the ability of BHaH to automatically use multiple skins for aircraft of the same type so that aces and different flights and squadrons flying the same aircraft type can be identified. Now, using our DMVP, aircraft of the same type will be assigned slightly different damage models, meaning that the human player will observe a much wider variety of damage effects to the AI aircraft than was previously thought possible. Human players should also notice that damage to their own aircraft should become more visible, with more varied damage effects than currently seen using only the hardcore model. The DMVP is meant to be used primarily with the full BHaH campaign. However, players who fly mainly QC are also invited to download this mod, as it also contains a slightly modified version of HPW's Intermediate Damage Model 2.2 for QC. Users who prefer to use a different damage model for QC battles may simply apply the appropriate QC damage mod for use in QC without harming their installation of the DMVP for use in the campaign. Please be sure to read the installation instructions contained in the download file because a small second step is required in order to insure that the mod is installed properly. I hope that the addition of this second step will permit users to use this mod after OBD releases their next patch, which most likely will contain a revised "official" hardcore damage model. However, until the next patch is released, I cannot guarantee that the DMVP will work with the new patch. Finally, I recommend that users who decide to use this mod change their gun accuracy settings in Workshop to "less accurate." This setting effects both the human player and the AI, but seems to reduce the "dead-eye Dick" accuracy of the AI in campaign and allows for (I hope) longer and more realistic air battles. Fortiesboy and I hope that everyone will enjoy this mod and find it to be the most realistic and enjoyable damage model yet! Please direct any questions or comments regarding the use of this mod either to me or Fortiesboy on this thread. 2. HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!

Gentlemen and WomenFly2, An updated version of HPWFB VDM is now available for users who have JSGME. Go to the 3rd party file and mods announcement thread for details. Changes to 1.1 Made mod fully compatible with Jonesoft's Generic Mod Enabler. Now, users of JSGME simply need to unzip the mod by right-clicking on the HPWFB_DM_1_1.zip folder and extracting to your CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\MODS folder. Follow the JSGME instructions to activate the mod. Users can find JSGME at the following address: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/...ucts-jsgme.html 2) After activating the mod, be sure to navigate back to the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\MODS folder and click on the deletebdps.bat program to remove any old bdp files remaining from older DM installs. That's it! NOTE: Version 1.1 is intended ONLY for users of JSGME. If you are not using JSGME, please download and use version 1.0 of the HPWFB DM!
  3. DM Utilities

File Name: DM Utilities File Submitter: Herr Prop-Wasche File Submitted: 17 Aug 2009 File Category: Modding Tools and Add-on Software DM Utilities by Herr Prop-Wasche v1.0 Thank you for downloading DM Utilities! The three batch files contained within this download are designed to assist users to easily manage their xdp and bdp files. As most BHaH users already know, xdp files are largely responsible for controlling the damage model of each aircraft in the game. If you do not use a mod management program, such as Jonesoft's Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME), managing all 389 xdp files so you can try out different damage models can be a cumbersome process. The three files contained in the DM Utilities folder makes the process of copying, backing up, and restoring these files a snap! DM Utilities contains the following three files: 1) CopyXDPs.bat This file automatically copies all 389 xdp files from your CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\aircraft folder and stores them in a folder named OBDStockXDP, which is then placed in the CFSWW1 OverFlanders Fields main folder. Run this program if you do not use JSGME before you install any 3rd party damage mods. 2) Deletebdps.bat This file automatically deletes old bdp files located in your aircraft folder left over by previous damage model installations. Run this program any time you replace one damage model with another model--even if you use JSGME! BHaH will automatically recreate the correct bdp files the next time you start the game. You may also run this program anytime a DM does not appear to be displaying the appropriate damage effects. 3) RestoreXDPs.bat This file automatically restores all previous xdp files to your aircraft folder that were placed in the OBDStockXDP folder when you ran the CopyXDPs.bat program. Run this program when you wish to go back to the previous damage model and you do not use the JSGME mod enabler. After restoring the xdp files, it is recommended that you run the Deletebdps.bat program again. INSTALLATION: Simply unzip the DM Utilities zip file into your CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder. A new folder named DM Utilities containing the three batch files will be automatically created inside the main folder. Please note: Although I have extensively tested all three programs in this download, I cannot guarantee they will work on every computer system. Therefore, use of any of these files is at your own risk. I will, of course, attempt to answer any question or problem you may have. Users may contact me at the Over Flanders Fields forum, located at http://forum.combatace.com Click here to download this file

  5. A bad day in Flanders

I do mainly stick to the more stable gun platforms: Albs, DVII, Se5a, Pup. Occasionally I will make a foray into the DH2's, Camels, and DRI's, but usually get my a** kicked!
  6. Flaming Onions

Swweeeeeet!! Nice effect so far. If you can get more guns firing at the same time we would have some pretty good fireworks!
  7. Bumpmaps, I think, but I'm not sure what those are, either.
  8. Flying the "new" SPAD XIII

Yeh, and don't think you can climb away from the Spads as easily now with the new FM. With their speed they can quickly get under you in level flight, climb, and pepper you pretty good before losing their speed and altitude again. Now THEY dictate the beginning and ending of the battle! Good job OBD!
  9. A Revisit to 1.32 Superpatch.

Already ahead of you, FB. I put instructions in version 1.1 of the DM to do just that. In fact, I'm thinking about creating an "OFF DM Utility Pack" which will be composed of three utilities: 1) the deletebdps.bat, 2) a utility to backup xdp files from your aircraft folder, and 3) a utility to restore xdp files to the aircraft folder. We'll have none of that famed British modesty here, FB! Couldn't have done it without your help and input!

    Sticky, sticky, sticky!!!
  11. A bad day in Flanders

To be honest, the reason I get shot down so easily is that I am primarily a poor shooter, due to a head injury I had as a child. As a consequence, I have a slight tremor in both of my hands which makes aiming difficult. Also effects my flying a bit. Therefore, I tend to get target fixated as I try to shoot enough holes in the enemy craft to down him. Secondly, I have spent more time lately modding and tweaking than flying, so I don't have a lot of flight time logged to begin with. I'm hoping to spend more time flying and less time tweaking now that OBD has finished patching for the most part and my DM is close to where I want it (although I am finding it hard to resist making some additional changes based upon some of the new settings in the stock DM). Thanks for the suggestions. I'm afraid I'll never be an OFF 17 hour person, however! Still, the sim is quite fun and fantastic so I don't feel like I have wasted any of my money.
  12. Programming is as much an art as it is a science. Sometimes even mystical and not everything can work right the first time. It's good that you made the effort and I have confidence that you will sort it out eventually. But for now, take a well deserved break.
  13. HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!

Yep, what Panama Red said. To check if you have BHaH DM or the HPWFB DM installed, check the date of your xdp files, located in each specific aircraft folder inside the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\aircraft folder. The stock OBD xdp files are dated around the middle of July, while mine are dated later, toward the end of July and beginning of August. Another way to check is to open up one of the Alb xdp files with a text editor and note the damage point value for the oil reservoir. Mine are set to 38, while the stock OBD files are set to 34.

Workshop. Left side. Should be some buttons that control the intro movie, and UI movie.

Heh. I think the maximum I have made so far is 3.5 hours!
  17. Fortiesboys 1.2 QC DM now available

Hee, hee. QC carnage. When the subtlety of the campaign won't do, go for the carnage in a QC battle!
  18. Heaven - I'm in Heaven (and Hell)

Olham, do you get any sleep? Thanks for the compliments about the DM. I have worked very hard on it and am pleased that you are enjoying it. Of course, wouldn't be possible without the already outstanding BHaH and the superlative superpatch--minus the DM, of course! (Actually, the stock DM is just as good as Fortiesboy's and my mod. Just a little difference in design philosophy really! I encourage everyone to try them both out to see which they prefer).
  19. HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!

I've now made a version of the HPWFB DM that is fully JSGME compatible! After I upload the new 1.1 version to the 3rd party mods forum, all users will have to do is unzip the zip file to your CFSW1 Over Flanders Fields\MODS folder, which will be created when you install JSGME. Then, simply follow the easy JSGME instructions to activate the damage mod. Users will find a readme file for HPWFB DM and a deletebdps.bat file located in the CFSW1 Over Flanders Fields\MODS folder. JSGME is available here: http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/...ucts-jsgme.html Install JSGME by unzipping the download to your main CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields Folder. Note: users who choose not to use JSGME should NOT use version 1.1 of the mod. Continue to use 1.0 until you decide to install JSGME.

Carrick-- Didn't mean to forget about you. Did you ever get sorted?
  21. A Revisit to 1.32 Superpatch.

Hi FB! Glad you are "back with the program." I'm not sure that your clean install had any effect on the trees; I believe Winder mentioned in one of the mini-patches that the terrain in the super-patch had a few oddities that were corrected in a later hot-fix. Maybe that cured your tree problem. I'd hate to lose you from 1.32 because of a "failing to see the forest for the trees!" I'm getting some good reports about our damage mod. Be sure to check out the HPWFB release thread for information about using a 3rd party program called JSGME (Jones-Soft Generic Mod Enabler) to quickly and easily handle all kinds of mods to BHaH--including damage mods. I'm going to recommend that everyone use this utility to handle DM changes. This should help end any aircraft mismatch problems in MP too. Because of the changes to how OBD handles patches and the damage model, I have been too busy trying to find easier work-arounds to backing up and restoring files for me to fly very much, so I am interested in your comments re the DM. Hopefully, using JSGME will enable me to spend more time flying, comparing DMs, and possibly tweaking! Cheers!
  22. HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!

Doh! I have played SH3 with JSGME and completely forgot about it! Doh! :blush2: Thanks Panama Red! JSGME should be ideal for backing up and replacing the damage files. No more fooling around with ancient DOS commands to copy all those files (although I WAS finally able to get my batch file to properly copy the files and store them in a backup folder). I was just about to start working on a .bat file to restore the files when I ran across your post. Guess I won't have to waste my time working on that and can get flying! I'll update my readme file to incorporate instructions on using JSGME with the HPWFB VDM.
  23. MiniPATCH V1.32d is now available!

OMG! Another patch! What is WRONG with this game! This is the suckiest support EVAH! Can't OBD get anything right!! Oh, and what's with my plane getting shot up all the time!!! The DRI is PORKED!!!! Waaah, waah, waah!!!! Seriously guys, you have spoiled us! Take a well deserved rest, go to the beach, drink your favorite beverage(s), and THEN GET BACK TO WORK ON P4! Really....
  24. Open Letter to Forum from OBD software

Not much to add that hasn't already been said. OBD has the best support I have ever experienced. To top it off, they are extremely friendly and helpful--unless unfairly provoked, which seems to be extremely rare! Are there some things about BHaH that I might like to be slightly different? Well, sure. However, we all have to remember that without Winder, Pol, and several others, who have worked FOR YEARS on their own time to develop their vision of WWI in the air, we wouldn't even have this absolutely wonderful sim to b***ch about. Remember the dark days between RB3D and phase 2? If you don't like the vision that OBD has brought to life, you can always go out and develop your own vision of WWI air combat. I hope you don't mind if I don't wait for your vision to come to fruition!
  25. Mission and Flight Time no Recorded

Glad you guys are sorted. Sometimes it's the easiest explanation, LOL. I always use escape to end my missions but never thought about it.
