  1. HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!

Red-Dog, Glad you like it so far! I've got some ideas for incorporating some of the features of the new OBD DM into the mod as well. I think there may be a way to show more bullet strike and fabric damage.

OlPaint--sounds like you are on the right track. Safest bet is to backup the entire aircraft folder, even though you really only need the xdp files. I tried all day to create a batch file to save and reinstall the stock xdp's, but I have run into several snags due to my limited knowledge of DOS commands. Anybody out there who can help me out?

Hmmm, Mickeysoft's auto update won't work? Don't like the sound of that. Here is a direct link you can try: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...08-1E1555D4F3D4 If that doesn't work, try going to Dell's website to see if they have any info about updating to service pack 3 on a Dell.
  4. HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!

Glad to hear people are still interested in trying the HPWFB variety pack. I've had limited time since releasing, so I haven't had much chance to check it out in the campaign so I'm very interested in hearing your feedback. Re uninstalling and rolling back to the stock DM. Unfortunately, it seems that to reinstall OBD's DM you will have to reapply the superpatch and hot-fix, as the mini-updates do not appear to include any of the aircraft files (OBD please correct me if I am wrong). The only other alternative I can think of is to first back up your aircraft folder by copying and pasting it to another drive before installing the VDM. A faster, but more complicated procedure would be to simply copy all of the stock xdp files to another location before installing the VDM, and then repasting the stock files back into the aircraft folder if you wish to go back to the stock DM. I may be able to write a batch program to do this automatically but I don't have a time table for when I might be able to do that.

Zoom, I think you need to install Microsoft's Service Pack 3 for XP 32. Someone else was having problems until they discovered they only had SP2 installed. To determine which service pack is currently installed on your computer, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Run. 2. Type the following command and then click OK: winver A dialog box displays the version of Windows and the service pack that is currently installed on your computer. Be sure to set a restore point before installing just to be on the safe side. Good luck.
  6. Mission and Flight Time no Recorded

A couple of thoughts. Are you returning to the correct airbase? Do you land first or let your wing mates land first? Most importantly, was your mission a total success or a total failure? In P2, sometimes a message box would display asking you if you wanted to end a mission early after you accomplished all objectives or failed to accomplish any. This was removed in P3. I'm wondering if this message is being triggered in your missions but is not seen because it was removed in P3. My guess is that if you don't end your mission quickly after this invisible message is triggered then the CFS3 engine erases or overwrites the early part of your mission.
  7. open letter to OBD

Winston, I hope you choose to stay, Superpatch or no Superpatch. Maybe if OBD called future additions to the game "enhancements" instead of "patches," people wouldn't get so up in arms about the many welcomed improvements to the game. The game is excellent as it is, no one should have the impression that it needs any "fixing." OBD does an excellent job, bar none, listening and responding to their customers. Why should we discourage them by fussing over matters of personal opinion?
  8. SUPERPATCH 1.32 is now available!

Yes, I like to think that OBD learned something from me and Fortiesboy.
  9. Fee almost escaped me in a huge cloud

For BH, a better idea than editing all of the Fee folders from "tactical_bomber" to "fighter_bomber." Instead, only change the Fee folder named Fe2b_Sqd. In BHaH, you and your flight of aircraft all fly using the Sqd folder, while flight A and other Fee flights/squadrons use the other folders. So, you can "imagine" that your flight has been given the job of "top cover" to protect all of the lumbering Fees below. Of course, you can still bomb targets as before, but your flight mates will act much more aggressively than the other Fees. Try it out and see!
  10. Fee almost escaped me in a huge cloud

BH, ole chap! You can change the AI behavior of the Fees quite easily! Just go to the aircraft folder and open up the FE2b folders inside (AC1 to AC5, SQ1 to SQ4, QC1, and Sqd). Then, open the xdp file inside each folder and look for the following: Category="tactical_bomber" (it's about 5 lines from the top of the file). Edit that line to read Category="fighter_bomber" and save. Your Fee will now fly like a scout! Unfortunately, you will probably see some strange AI behavior, especially at low levels, like lots of wingovers and stalling behavior. However, if you keep them at height and at relatively high speed, they do quite nicely! Good luck and give us a mission report!

    Possible memory problem?
  12. SUPERPATCH 1.32 is now available!

Okey dokey. If the font can't be made larger, perhaps you could change to all capital letters in the quick scenario screen?
  13. SUPERPATCH 1.32 is now available!

I didn't get a response the first time, so I'll try again: Otherwise, everything looks great!

Roger that, Madmatt. Enjoy the sandy beaches, gentle tropical breezes, and warm sun! Send us a postcard!

  16. HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!

Good news! From looking in the new DM files for the just released patch, it appears that 3rd party DM mods will still work with the new patch! I'm not positive about MP, but it should still work even with alternative mods such as Fortiesboy's or myself. Compared to the previous "hardcore" DM, there are some noticeable changes to the DM in the new patch. However, the differences are less apparent when compared to either FB's or my own DMs, IMHO. I'm not yet at liberty to describe these changes until I get permission from Pol or Winder, but the new DM does seem, along with several other changes, to also have implemented at least some of the changes FB and I have made in our own mods. Many people will obviously prefer the new official DM, but I think there is still plenty of room for people to enjoy the other DMs, too. So, my advice is to try the new official DM first, and then load any of the other DMs and compare them with the new patch. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised!
  17. SUPERPATCH 1.32 is now available!

Ooooh, I like the new artwork on the main screen! You even have a 'tross on the front to make Olham a very happy camper. I assume OvS is responsible for the new screen? Great job! I also like the more periodic looking artwork in the setup and loading screens. Feels even more immersive. 2 minor quibbles. In the quick scenarios section, the font size is really small for my middle-aged eyes. Can this be increased? Second, I am very glad to see that you have entered a lot more ace information in the ace dossiers section. Unfortunately, the text font color appears to be the same as the background color so cannot be read. From spying inside the new files, the new DM looks interesting. On first glance, it doesn't appear that 3rd party DM mods like FB's or mine are incompatible with the new patch. You might explain how the new MP file backup options work, however. Haven't had time to fly yet, but on the outside the new patch looks really nice. Everything seems to load properly and works as before. Thanks OBD! :clapping:

Carrick-- Installation is easy, IMO. 1) Download the mod. 2) Left click to open the zip file. 3) Click on the HPWFB readme file for complete installation instructions. Olham-- 1. You can easily change back to the normal or hardcore DM provided by OBD by running the appropriate DM file available from their website (you probably downloaded it already). 2. It's hard to say whether a particular aircraft will last longer or not in a dogfight because there are so many variables involved. However, the mod is designed so that aircraft will perform with more variety when hit than in any of the other damage models. Some may be tougher, others may be easier. In general, if main guns in Workshop are set to "normal", most of the aircraft in the new mod will probably be slightly easier to down than in the hardcore DM. If they become too easy to damage, try setting main guns in Workshop to "less accurate."
  19. battle damage to aircraft

After applying new graphics settings it is usually a good idea to go back to workshop and click on the graphics settings button and reset your screen resolution settings. For some reason these sometimes reset to 800 X 600, causing your game to crash. Reset your resolution to the maximum your monitor can support with a comfortable refresh rate if a CRT.
  20. File Name: Herr Prop-Wasche's and Fortiesboy's DM Variety Pack File Submitter: Herr Prop-Wasche File Submitted: 7 Aug 2009 File Category: Modding Tools and Add-on Software HPWFB Campaign Damage Model Variety Pack for OFF BHaH 1.0 by Herr Prop Wasche, with contributions by Fortiesboy INSTALLATION: 1) Right-click on the HPWFB_1_0.zip folder and extract all files to the OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder. DO NOT unzip the file into the aircraft folder itself! If prompted, simply click "Yes to all" when asked if you wish to replace files. 2) Navigate to the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder and click on the deletebdps.bat program to remove any old bdp files remaining from older DM installs. Don't panic! This will not harm your install of BHaH in any way as the game will automatically recreate the correct bdp files the next time you start the game. You may also run this program anytime a freshly installed DM does not appear to be displaying the appropriate damage effects. Version 1.0 of the Damage Model Variety Pack (DMVP) is intended to be used as an alternative campaign damage model to any other currently existing damage model already released either by OBD or by any other third party, including myself. The DMVP is currently composed of a combination of four existing damage models, and is therefore actually four DMs in one: OBD's original "hardcore" DM, Fortiesboy's DM, my Intermediate Damage Model 2.2, and a hybrid consisting of a combination of OBD's hardcore DM and the threshold values from my IDM! What this means is that the AI aircraft will now display even more varied damage effects than was previously thought possible, depending on which one of four damage models they are assigned by the campaign manager when each campaign mission is initialized. Although human players will no longer be able to know specifically how "tough" each of their AI opponent's aircraft are until they engage them in a dogfight, care has been taken to ensure that the respective damage models are similar enough so that no one has an unfair advantage over another player--human or otherwise! I hope you enjoy using the mod as much as I have enjoyed making it. A special thanks to OBD and to Fortiesboy for their help and encouragement in the making of this mod. It simply would not have been possible without both of their help and assistance. Salute! Click here to download this file Note added August 9, 2009: This mod appears to be compatible with the new patch. Be sure to follow the above installation instructions carefully in order to avoid problems, however.

  22. Damage Mod

Wrong location. If you are talking about Fortiesboy's mod, read the installation instructions on the page where you downloaded the mod. I believe he tells you to unzip the folder to your \OBDSoftware\CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields\aircraft folder.
