I use virtual dub to compress my fraps. From the compression drop down there are several formats to choose from, some of which it tells you cant be used. Was wondering if anyone knew which of the formats is best for getting the file size down to a managable size, but still having an avi that will play in hd.

ok,,,well,,i dont take "long fraps"...usually just trying to get some shots of other mp pilots flying around me... and fps in mp are capped to 30 for me also i would say average size is about 250 mb,,,but cant tell you exactly what that converts too in playing time,,,,if i were to guess,,,id say about 10-20 seconds.. but your size, for the lengh of time seem about right,,,, and i did selcet the direct stream option, but doing that disabled the compression option,,,,should i have just gone ahead and saved the file that way?

could be wrong about this,,,,,but dont think i am off DOES utilize a dual core,,,,it wont utilize a quad core.... and your question is one i always seem to be asking,,,how does a x.x celeron match up with a x.x p4, and so on.. with all the other factors invoved, dont think you will ever get a difinitve answer, not being a saleman here, but i would definately get the game, especially if you are satisfied with how cfs3 plays on your laptop. granted, you may not have your sliders set to where you would like them, and may have scenery disabled all together, but you will still enjoy the game.

ras,,,just how are you getting your internet? dsl,,,cable,,,,fios,,,and,,,if you could find the mfg and model of modem and/or router

ras...are you on vista? only reason i ask is lot of pilots get a message to keep blocking or unblock directgame8 or something like that, but the message window is always behind the game window, so they dont get to see it...

one computer i used to run off on was a 2.9 celeron with 2 gig of pc3200 (thats 333 bus speed), and a 512mb pci card. I had to run it at 5-2-1-1-1, and it took forever to load up, but it was playable.

took me a few to decipher ctd... can only suggest trying this, if you already havnt.. http://www.com-central.net/index.php?name=...topic&t=118 find the configuring cfs3 section, and follow the suggestions for settings to your cfs3config file. You didnt indicate your machine specs, but when it comes to slider settings, i would go with low settings first, and see if it helps the problem, and if so, then gradually move them up. would also consider finding the section on capping your fram rate, and also doing that. hope some of this helps

first of all,,i have xp64, as do othere here, and have no problems with it, with the exception of maybe a few drivers being hard to find. but looking at your video card,,,personaly i would start at 5 2 2 2 1 make sure you go thru alll the tips and tweaks in the stickie sectionss till you find the cfs3config settings for your particular brand of video card, and make the recommended settings...

HUGE misconception!!!! I dont know why people assume the pilots that do mp are "Good".... I would be way more worried about going up agains a pilot that has been doing campaigns, in did standard, than a multiplayer pilot who just likes to have fun in the game. And besides, 95% of what we do at present, is missions, which means its all of us (the mp players), against ai. Not many of us have "hours and hours" flying this this. Aside from ins and outs,,,key commands etc etc, your probably pretty much at the same level as the rest of us..

If you dont like the display with the z key, get the teamspeak overlay. it runs independent of teamspeak (what multiplayer pilots use to talk to each other in a game). you can set it to only display the fps, and you can tell it where to display it on the screen, and change the font it makes it alot easier to see your fps outta the corner of your eye. and,,,if you ever decide to play multiplayer,,,you already will have the overlay... http://www.teamspeakoverlay.com/

red dog, for the last couple weeks, we have been trying really hard to have some afternoon weekend sessions up so we can hook up with you pilots... Cant say this is etched in stone, but belive axgrinder is planning an afternoon session saterday, for that exact purpose. Hope you can make it..

pd,,,well....on the FUN scale,,,its still a 10.... is it perfect? cant say yes to that,,,but its not that bad that you should not at least give it a shot....right?

gotta feeling lot of ppl share your sentiments axe (but,,i think you would be lying if you said you dont enjoy shooing down ME over shooting down an AI) But it was the dogfights that got the majority of us to the point where we are now, and lets face it,,,not everyone is able to meet the time slots we play, so this is nothing other then a good oppurtunity to make mp game play available to a broader band of pilots, at all times. And am sure that most ppl trying dogfights will migrate into missions.

will try and have something up around 8ish tongiht game is on its way up.... 65.189.28.88 doing a little testing here,,,so game might go up and down i have gotha and zepplin, so you will need those planes. am on ground,,will watch tac,,,,dont have headphones on,,so will not be able to hear teamspeak will probably switch to madmat later, so will just be doing dogfight till he gets in.....in the mood to shoot ppl down tonight... anyone wanting to attempt hosting, or host for that matter, would be great, as i cant stay on too late tonight......
