  1. check out the neat smoke spiral on this elll going down.. Flares over the airfield the BIG train
  2. Ok..think you missed the point.... I am not recommending settings...within reason what works for someone with systemA will not work with someone with systemB. What i am recommending is a proceedure for each individual pilot to determine what settings are best for them, and that proceedure is to make one change at a time, write down the change they made, play the game, and write down the result of the change. admittedly, I think if enought ati users try this, they will find with the exception of the dual pass render, the default settings in cfs3config overides and texture info will yeild the best gameplay/fps. I dont have nvidai, so cant comment on what settings might be best for them, but the proceedure would still apply. as far as the other settings, i used ccc for aa (16x edge detect), and have res set to medium in workshop this is the mission i used to check my game/fps after making each change on the ground, 60fps ( i used to be lucky if i got 20 here) skimming very low over alot of trees
  3. Im not trying to re-write the book on cfs3config settings, but another pilot followed my proceedure for doing their cfs3config with an ati card, and they got the same results I did. As i was not sure if this was something that was unique to my system, didnt want to suggest it to heavily, but it appears to work. For reference, i have a e8500 @ 3.19 and a ati 4870 I was tired of getting lower fps than other ppl with same or lower systems. For the most part, i had been trying 3 cfs3config settings. Off's, Rabus/homeboys, and the settings on com-central. I reset my cfs3config to default, and i reset my ccc settings to default. As i knew i was going to be starting the game over and over again, i made a shortcut to cfs3mp.exe (cfs3.exe will work just as well), so i would not have to start from the off manager every time. I ran all the games with tac off, labels off, and hud off, and used the teamspeak overlay to get my fps. Ive found the "Z" key can drop your fps a few. I made one change to cfs3config, and set my resolution, and played the game, writing down my fps on ground, and then skimmining over trees. I made one more change to overides, and unchecked dual pass render, and played the game, noticing a dramatic jump in fps. Then i started adjusting my sliders, one slider at a time, and one notch at a time, playing the game after each setting to see the impact on both fps, and more importantly, how the game played and looked. And writing down the fps with each cfs3config change. Doing Planes first, then effects, then clouds, on my system, (someone elses might be different) setting these to 5 did not frop fps any. Then did scenery and terrain, again, one slider at a time, one notch at a time. For my system, going from 3 to 4 on either dropped fps alot, with no noticable improvement in game play or appearance. So when finished with sliders, was at 5-3-3-5-5 Then i started making "recommended" tweaks to overides, and texture info, one setting at a time, and playing the game to see the effect. NONE of the recommended cfs3config tweaks (ie vertex buffers, render target, etc etc" improved my fps or game play. In most cases they dropped my fps. when i was finished with cfs3config, the only changes i had made to overides was dual pass render unchecked, and i unchecked the disable shoreline render, and disable water animation. texture info was left at default. I was running around 45-53 on the ground, and 60fps skimming over trees. And no matter how fast i turn my head, i almost never see white triangles on the edge with my track ir. Went into my ccc settings, and rather than do settings on click at a time, just adjusted each 3d setting to where i wanted to be able to play the game, and watched the effect of each setting. I was able to turn all ccc settings to performance, and fps in the game did not drop at all. The premise is pretty simple. If you make a slew of settings changes, all you get to see is the combined results of those settings. You have no idea if some helped your fps/gameplay, and some dropped your fps/gameplay. while this method is a pain, and takes time, it does show you the effect of each individual setting change on your game. And while most of the suggested tweaks for cfs3config have been around for a while, and pretty much accepted, from what i see, they are not the best settings to use, at least with ati cards.
  4. sorry,,not here, but then i have that mapped to a joystick button... maybe you didnt hit both at the same time,,,even thou you thout you where. I always get that split second pause when i take a screen shot...
  5. test
  6. Dej,,,love the "banner"
  7. Anyone up for anything tonight, i should be online around 7ish edt. Have a mission i flew that was fun, and still have a dogfight mission i want to run again./
  8. HIR is avalable on dvd isnt it? (minor shipping cost involved im sure)
  9. well..keep in mind i dont generally use the word "only" and "$1000.00" in the same sentence too often,,,, but,,the projectors i was looking at are around 999.00 now.. compare that to lets say 600 bucks for a medium size lcd tv,,,or what you have to spend to get 3 monitors for a 3head setup, and imho it gets pretty close to being cost efficicnt. I just dont know how good the game would look....
  10. anyone done the home theater pojection route? I noticed they are up to 1920 x 1080 resolution now gotta belive this game on a 109 inch screen (and possible curved a little for some periphial vision) would be great.
  11. wow,,now aint that strange!!!
  12. Never seen this kind of damage before, and its pretty cool. Was caused by a collision. I lost the Lower canvas on a section of my right wing, and one aileron.
  13. That also sounds good to me. I know this may be a different subject, but, if at all possible, when in advanced search, it would be nice if the catagory selections actually worked... I can never get the catagory option to work. If i search for Fokker dr1 in over flanders fields skins downloads, i get results from all forums,,and all posts...
  14. no right airlon, and 6 feet of my lower wing missing, and i still got a named ace. just couldnt land it.
  15. I have ati, so not sure if this is going to apply to you. Hopefully someone is sending me a Brand new nvidia (it wont fit in his case lol), so i can test this out on another card. the process involves alot of starting and stopping the game, alot so recommend you navigate to your cfsww1 directory and find your cfs3.exe, and make a shortcut to it on the desktop, then you wont have to start from the off manager every time. this is what i did on my computer. reset your cfs3config to default, then make only one change, set your resolution to whatever it is you want. if possible,,reset your nvidaia control panel to default (assuming you know what settings you prefer in the nvidia control panel) run the game, with lables off..tack off,,hud off, and look at your frame rates, write them down. got back to cfs3config, and make one change,,uncheck dual pass render,,the play the game again, and look at the framrate to check if it got better or worse. then keep up this process,,starting with your sliders first, I did mine one slider,,,on click at a time, but if your not patient, you could accelerate the process... do your plane slider, then your effects slider, then your clouds slider, just make sure you play the game after each setting change, and write down the results. when you do your scnery and terraind sliders, i would use the one click at a time. I found these are the ones that have the biggiest impact on fps. If you see a change in settings that makes your fps drop too much, go back and change it back. after sliders are done, make your overide settings on setting at a time, and again play the game, and write down the effect of fps then your texture info... when i did this on my computer, i found the ONLY recommended setting that improved my fps was the unchecking dual pass render box. All the other recommended tweaks dropped my fps, and gave me no noticable improvement in the game. after i was finished with cfs3config, i went back to my video card control panel, and set all my settings to high, and my fps still stayed at where it was. should you do this, would be interested in what results you got,, if the process only happens to apply to me, will stop bothering ppl with this ....lol
  16. ahh..ok...sorta missread your question... if you get to the hanger drop down, and select controls, you can map any of the existing cfs3 commands in the game, to any keyboard, or joystick button that you want. just dbl click the stock command, and it will ask you what key you want to use for that function. It keeps the stock command, and adds the key you tell it to use, so you will end up with 2 entries for that command. Note that after you hit the key, or joystick button you want, you have to use "tab" on the keyboard to get to the "ok" button if it tells you that key is alread mapped, and you have to juse "enter" on the keyboard to get it to accept the mapping, you cant click on "ok" with the mouse. and,,you have to save the profile as "mine". you cannot have multiple profiles in off,,,unless you want to rename the mine.xca (the default profile off uses), and make another profile (if that made sense)....
  17. 1. not sure why you feel the views in cfs3 are limited...you have all the views you would have in any other game, and they are all avialable in off. 2. answered above 3. if i understand your question correctly, you just hit "forward view" to get from any other view to look forward.
